You ruined it for me with the crunchy peanut butter. My dad's favorite snack was saltine crackers with a smear of butter and a sprinkling of chili powder.
  4. When the carp get largwr, over the 20 lbs you mentioned, don't heir feeding habits change which would make them tougher to catch. I admit in my youth I used to love carp fishing and as a result have made the "dive of shame" into the lake to catch up to a rod that had been yanked into the lake. Never shelled out a reel but did on a few occasions clamp down on the spool to let a hook pull out before getting spooled on line.
  5. Bluegill on a fly rod, nice day, no rushing about, excellent sir.

    What's Cooking?

I finally have something worthy of a photo. Grampa duty after a successful week of walleye fishing. So baked fresh walleye, some sautéed asparagus, fried taters, and bought a key lime pie I decorated with raspberries.
  7. That was a fat Kentucky for sure.
  8. It will be crowded down around Cole Camp/Turkey Creek next weekend. The snaggers will be thick. But that don't hurt the fishing, might make it tougher to find a parking spot though.
  9. If you are unfamiliar with the Fairfield to Sapp area takr yur time and don't get caught past chimney rock when the sun goes down, it gets DARK up there but the fishing can be awesome. Good thing about the Warsaw area you can go to LOZ pretty easily as well, check with the local shops to see where and what is working. Cold fronts can really make it difficult in April as well if they hit while there. PS don't be afraid to throw some crank baits at windy points, no telling what might eat it.
  10. Walleye are beginning to move in, probably up creeks/rivers as well.
  11. That because every who saw you probably Houghton you were a homeless psycho.

    What's Cooking?

Wow, and I was drooling over the Maries Calendars pot pie.
  13. If water level is good, the Pomme Arm from around Fairfield on up should be good. Honestly in mid April it should all be good from mid lake up. There are several decent places in Warsaw, and instead of Fairfield you could launch at Osage Bluff and be in the same area. Heck if they are running water.below the dam trolling shad raps can produce some nice walleye, hybrids and whites near the City Harbor.
  14. It's not really chocolate milk, but definitely stained. Am sure some parts are more stained than others.. can see a few boats out fishing brushless today. Outflow is slowly stepping down.
  15. I completely understand, I am going through some of it with my mom right now. She is still able to be home with my wife and I but is not able to take care of herself for a very long period at a time. It is tough but know that you are doing what you can for them.
  16. Neither elk nor otters are non native, although I agree that bringingg them back may not have been the best plan. Otters can do a lot of damage, the elk are mostly a money pit, kind of cool but still a money pit. I am sure that all critters would list humans as such.
  17. Examples? Somebody had to ask. Stripers, OK, wipers OK a hybrid but OK. What else, just curious not trying to start a fight here.

    What's Cooking?

I didn't take no pictures either tonight, I was in too much of a hurry to get amongst it. Came home and my wife, knowing how much I love corned beef had 2 of them in the crock pot, mmm the smell was wonderful. I dipped out some of the juice into a stew pot, dumped in half a bag of baby carrots, chunked up a whole head of cabbage, and finally chunked up about 5 smallish red taters after the cabbage had cooked down a bit to make room. Right now I am quite stuffed, wife had to go to spfld so mom and I had to do our best to eat it all, failed horribly but that just means lunches for this week.

If a man is in the forest why would he need to speak, simply breathe deep and enjoy it. Plenty of time to be.wrong when you get home.
  24. I never said it is required, however wearing an approved inflatable PFD is an option if a work vest (pfd) is not required. There are times of the year when I have worn an old float coat and been darn glad.
