  1. I haven't updated much lately its mostly been just sending the water downstream. We are closing in on our target elevation of 839.0 and will likely begin to drop back next week, partly to slow the drop, and partly to allow the MDC to complete a survey of fish populations on the river down stream, the paramaters are they need 2000 CFS for 3 days, so we have the water, doesn't appear to be any hurricanes on the horizon, so probably monday or so the outflow will drop to 2000 CFS. Stepping it down some with a project "normal" around the 15th of the month with cut back to minimum outflow of 50 CFS at that point. Lots of shad in the lake, fish should be fat, happy and bored, go liven them up a little.
  2. I call BS, there is no way you could have held up a smallmouth that big. I think you made up the high tide part too, by my chart high tide was at 8:00 p.m. BEFORE you got to Eagle Rock. BUSTED! Life is too shot not to have a little fun sometimes.
  3. I don't remember the exact numbers but from 922 to 898 ( I am sure the correct numbers are slightly different) or something the water "belongs" to SWPA unless some other pressing need arises. SWPA decided to generate or not. Lower a lake too low and everyone screams, it gets too high and everyone screams just the nature of the beast.
  4. Okay, a little more of a finesse presentation and better control. Does one work it like a jig or slower to not at all. Or more likely I assume it depends on what the fish want, if they don't like it still give it a little action?
  5. Since you apologized and deleted the pic, I will say I aint gonna bite Mike Tyson, I am sure I don't have enough immunizations to protect me from whatever he might have.
  6. Yeah, Mike would likely get confused and just bite my ear off.
  7. Let tie on an original rapala minnow and twitch it so it dives 6 inches or so then floats back up and I am IN. I thi k is is a lack of rhythm, i cant even play an air guitar. Seriously i can't make a Zara spook walk. It's been years since I have tried,I might still have one I could throw just to see if I could walk it. I could sort of walk a smaller spook with spinning gear.
  8. So essentially you only drop shot if the fish are near the bottom, say within 3 feet? I thought I saw folks talking about drops shotting suspended fish 20 to 25 feet deep in 50 feet of water, but I may well have gotten it mixed up.
  9. 5bites, if iron Mike is looking me in the eye and says turn left, I will look right back into his eyes and say "your left or mine friend".
  10. Now see I will defend someones right to eat bass, but tastlessness, lack of class, and just generally being a jerk I don't defend.
  11. I am one of those guys who can't fish a WTD lure to save my life. I just don't have the rhythm for it I guess. My top water pretty much is a jitterbug with a very occasional buzz bait. There is something comforting about the blop blop blop of a jitterbug, sort of like a percolating coffee pot, reminds of years gone by.
  12. Not being much of a bass fisherman I have been trying to learn a new thing or three. Anyway the actual question is I see references to drop shotting for suspended fish, is there a benefit to drop shot suspended fish instead of dropping a basic jig crawler combo or jig minnow combo. If fish are on the bottom no question but not sure on suspended fish? Does it allow live bait to have more movement?
  13. It's not hard to figure out why they call them Largemouth. Mouth opens as big as their body at least.
  14. Wow a 14 in gizzard shad is whopper.
  15. It's a sad deal all around. Most folks who buy/rent a condo never consider something like escape in event of fire or other emergency. Most counties (not all) do have building codes now, but for older structures like many around LOZ they pre-date the codes.
  16. None of the dogs I've ever had would have made good fishing dogs. They would either have been swimming and splashing through every hold of water, stepping on rods, spilling tackle boxes, dumping the canoe, rolling in whatever stinky thing found, or taken off chasing a squirrell, raccoon, deer etc. I have enough problems just preventing myself or my fishing buddies from doing that.
  17. DEEEElicious looking
  18. The hills and coves around the lakes can funnel those downdrafts into some impressive blasts of wind. I hadn't heard about Sterrett Creek's damage.
  19. Prayers sent!
  20. JalapeƱo jelly with some cream cheese on a cracker, mmmmmmm. Good.
  21. Hmm the whiskey and coke might be a clue as to why you fell down the stairs. I love dogs and have had them all my life. favorites are German Shepard and Border Collies. However I have no desire to have one in my boat while fishing, but have seen a lot of happy dogs and owners in boats together.
  22. Wilson, you will never know if you don't try it.
  23. The guides and great wally fishermen's could post exact locations, tactics and put me in the boat and I would still fail. Occasionally I can catch walleye but the few times I have tried the bottom bouncing of night crawlers I brutalized the drum and small channel cat populations, but never even saw a wally.
  24. I gotta admit the ones that really have the bold making on them really get me fired up. Post up a couple good goggle eye pics too!
