  1. Some Very nice smallies sir.
  2. Just like in real life with a group of people, you quickly learn who you can tease, who will take it and give it right back then loan you their last Ned rig. Others you quickly learn that no matter what the subject they know everything, those you do your best to avoid and they will eventually implode. Some of us have hot buttons that we are passionate about and will sometimes get a little aggressive about. Most of us would happily argue about a topic then if you called and said you were broke down somewhere would come get you. Such is life, disagreement doesn't equal dislike, sometimes I don't agree with something I said myself.
  3. Wasn't They Live the one where he had the special sunglasses and could see the aliens? LOL, a career in professional wrestling and we are discussing his movies.
  4. Awesome.
  5. If I remember correctly that was the movie the quote about chewing bubblegum and kicking a$$ was from.
  6. Utopian concepts never work. There will always be someone who trolls, always be someone who over reacts, someone who resorts to name calling and or threats. The best thing is to not feed the trolls, some simply can't resist feeding them thinking they will win, you win these things by letting them die of their own insignificance.
  7. Awesome, good report. Drum are fun if aggravating sometimes to catch.
  8. Generally people don't go far to break laws. Locals are the bulk of wildlife violators yes, i was born and raised wits some of them. They are the same ones that will take home 100 plus crappie, or a few extra or illegal deer, or noodle up some flathead. It is certainly not all of us good Ole boys who have spent out entire life living in the sticks breaking laws, but a certain group that we would be happy with out as well.
  9. The water in the Niangua around Lead Mine is deadly poison. Humans should not go near it, play it safe and fish the Mississippi instead.

    What's Cooking?

Real, smoked, good balogna I will eat all day long, just not fried.
  11. 10 more feet, about 3 weeks and we will be normal again.
  12. Actually I think the trees truly prefer $10 and up lures.

    What's Cooking?

As long as it ain't a fried bologna sammich post em up. Even a FISH MONGER can't stand the smell of fried bologna.
  14. Hang it I over the water like a gator line, might catch otters.
  15. Yep they were open again for a while but some said he had lost his desire to run the business any more. If you buy it I will come by and visit.
  16. You are killing me. Nice report.
  17. Once you get the hide off just use a fillet knife to remove the tenderloin/back strap piece. Two boneless pieces of beautiful meat. I would cut the straps into bite sized pieces and roll them in a good spicy Cajun style mix and into the deep fryer, or try it in a zatarains type crab boil and see which was better. Lots of videos on cleaning and cooking gar. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=http://m.youtube.com/watch%3Fv%3DjPvh6K22a_Y&ved=0CBwQtwIwAGoVChMIwdXurdKAxwIVytkeCh2wXQZm&usg=AFQjCNGuma-OJx0Kz3Y6N2VRejdvxJTPEA
  18. Use a pair of tin snips on their skin then peel off with pliers. The meat is a beautiful white, can be cooked many ways than. A buddy in college used to make a sort of fish chowder with the pieces of gar meat, fresh and hot it was delicious, cold they were like rubber.
  19. Cigars, some cold water, and white flukes on a medium action spinning rod. Low stress, almost guaranteed to catch a few, and feel the rest of the world fade away. If hot I like to sit in a riffle as deep as I can without being washed away and relax (have been know to consume an adult beverage while doing this). If your back starts to hurt from being in a canoe, a gravel bar with sun warmed gravel is nature's combo recliner and heating pad, or just a short nap in the shade to the sound of the river running by. Days like that it can be hard to understand the rest of the world caught up in politics, money, and discontent.
  20. Another series I enjoyed very much were Jean Auel clan of the cave bear series, 4 or 5 books I think. However they are long novels each and if reading when you can they will last a while, which isn't a bad thing. One more, I believe it's called The Hunters Heart, a friend gave it to me to read while recovering, he really really liked it, I only got one or two of the stories read, I really need to find it and finish it. It's kind of a bunch of short stories about why we hunt.
  21. Heck I enjoyed reading Lewis and Clarks journals, fairly short entries, read most of them while sitting in a deer stand.
  22. Very nice! I would have to take a bucket and add water to it until pulled the old dial scale to 19.4 lbs then weigh in on a real scale just to see how close it was. Regardless it was a whopper of a bass.
  23. If you publish an article about hunting and get 3 comments back then print one about rock cairns or butterflies and get 100 comments why wouldn't they lean toward the rocks and butterflies. A well thought out article from the MSA or a university researcher would likely be well received. One about how poorly the MDC manages and that people who keep smallmouth are bad probably not so much.
  24. Drum are the king of sportfish!
