Catch a State Record Fish? Then What?
MOPanfisher replied to Phil Lilley's topic in General Angling Discussion
Like with anything else on social media you just have to ignore the keyboard commandos. If you guys couldn't keep it alive I dang sure ain't gonna say anyone else could have. That was a fish of a lifetime pure and simple, at the best I would have done the same Bill did, only likely not as well. -
Wife picked up 3 whole chickens yesterday, I split them and brined them overnight. This afternoon they went into the electric smoker with a shaking of soul food seasoning on one side and cavenders on the other. They are wrapped in foil awaiting their place of honor for supper. Accompanying them will be a big bowl of cukes/onions/tomatoes soaking in a pickling liquid an a tray of red Tams Jalapeños split and filled with cream cheese, topped with brown sugar and wrapped in bacon, a little while in the oven and they should be ready.

I see them during the day but they are a lot more skittish it seems. At night bass are the slow stupid ones. I have been on more than one gigging trip where we had hot dogs or something else to go with taters and onions because we didn't get any suckers and weren't willing to gig bass or gogglers. I haven't been in years though and wish I had a chance to go again.

I NEVER pee in my own pool and I don't use other people's pool. For some reason they have always taken exception to me showing up after dark all sweaty and skinny dipping. Not very friendly if you ask me.

SOLD. Ruger LCR 22 WMR Double-Action Magnum Revolver (pic added)
MOPanfisher replied to Will S.'s topic in Buy - Sell - Trade
Bet it is a loud rascal. Says the guy who has a .357 Mag with the same barrel length. 😲 Sadly I have no need for it, looks like a fair deal for someone. -
Holy crap man. Wow, and congratulations.

Yep, mine is still running to, I also admit to having tested some lures in it. I keep it around for the grandson, grown kids etc. But mostly it gets used as an outdoor bathtub when I am all sweaty from whatever task an old fat man has to do. Sure does feel nice to plop into it about dark and cool down. And yeah I use a lot of chlorine in it to compensate.

DON'T DO IT. It is just depressing.

Last time I tried to get them to carry all the way to my truck, but they wouldn't do it.

Every time I bought .22 LR ammo at Wal mart, they would ask if it was for a pistol, I always answered nope, for my machine gun. As for wal mart to stop selling ammo, whatever. I have bought some cheapo ammo there in the past but my world will keep right on turning without their ammo.

My yard dog would happily let a crack head cross the yard, as long as he wasn't carrying a possum or cat.

Bugs no longer gang rape me like they used to. Try daily chemo pills, seems to be helping for me.!

Between having my grandson for the long weekend, and spending 2 of the 3 days working on a friend's house, (never ending project), tonight my daughter came up to get the young'un back and brought my son with her. Whike the house turned into a wrestle mania or border collies and a 5 year old vs, his uncle, my wife had thawed out a nice venison backstrap. Picked out one of the big zucchini from the table on the porch, gutted and chunked it up and into a foil package like you would taters and onions in the grill. Took the strap and rubbed it down with garlic olive oil and then a heavy coating of house seasoning. Grill good and hot by then so I got some fantastic grill marks on the meat. Came out a perfect rare/medium rare. Skillet of some sort of rice and a few boletes mushrooms from the yard sautéed up. Not a bad ending to the Holiday weekend at all.

Sounds like a good time planned. I will be among the unwashed masses at a conservation Area in MO, possible one that requores steel shot but not decided for sure on which one. Already have the required ammo. Seems to be a fair number of doves around but no weather up north to drive any non resident birds down. Oh well gotta try, it's the only time of year my old 1187 gets to come out and play.

Whopper of a flathead. FW is right they are delicious especially the belly meat but not everyone likes catfish and I probably would have released one that big too. Love to feel the pure dogging power when they fight.

Welcome. I am possibly the world's worst bass fisherman but occasionally sink that low. 😲 by the end of September things will be picking up on Pomme, crappie, white bass, and I suspect even them LM bass things will bite better. No better way than to literally get out and get amongst it. I can send you my phone number so if you ever have a problem such as vehicle or boat trouble you would be in my area I would certainly help you out. Not a mechanic but would do what I can, even if it's just to bring a cold beverage and ham sammich.

Tomatoes are absolutely loving this hot weather, but all the moisture is causing lots of splits, oh well still delicious. Wife wanted one cherry or grape tomato so I planted 2, she said tonight I am not picking 200 little maters every other day, so I had her pick one and the other had a terrible accident. And not sure what happened but my cucumbers went belly up, nothever kills them, but after a early rush they quit too. While out there I asked how the zuchinni were doing, if they were still producing or if they were dine. Wife said, "I don't know if they are done or not but I am done with them", not gonna mess up a woman who will pick garden stuff so over the fence they went too. A few minutes mowing things down and I now have a small space to plant turnips, assuming of course I don't sow them too thick which of course I will do. A tiny patch is capable of producing all I need and plenty left over. Even my canteloupesare looking a but rough but they get to stay and hopefully ripen the ones that are set, I do LOVE good canteloupes.

They were working on it today, don't know if they got it done or not. Some of the tiles will likely be reuseable.

It is on the list of things to get done, many of the concrete tiles are off of it as well and will need replaced. Think the crew may be there this week if all goes well.

White Bass with explosive diarrhea
MOPanfisher replied to fishinwrench's topic in General Angling Discussion
I would think that if I were eating all the shad I could stuff in my belly every day I would leave marks like that behind too. -

Drum are fun to catch, rattle traps are my favorite poison for white bass, if it doubt run them faster. Many a so so trip has been turned around by white bass.

I have been going to Spfld to dr. Then to KC for Dr's so have had much chance to actually xook, good thing I actually like hamburger helper! Did pickup a new grill and after seasoning I put some thich slices of zucchini slathered with garlic and butter on it, forgot how much I liked them. Wife is planning a shepard pie for tomorrow night. Most of them I have eaten have been pretry bland but whatever recipe she uses or however she modifies it is pretty good. I did get to have one of my favorites too big ole pot of elbow macaroni with tomatoes, fresh ones. Not sure why I like it so much except that we had it a lot when I was a kid. I add chopped up ham toine to make it better.

All my garden went out way late, but came on strong. Am begging neighbors to take a few zucchini, tomatoes are coming on strong, lots of little ones, and the brandywines are producing well also. Wife finally broke down and canned a few quarts with a sprig of basil for use this winter in spaghetti most likely. Cukes aren't going wild but are steadily producing, and the Tams Jalapeños are setting tons of peppers. Canteloupes have several nice ones set on, they are an older variety called ambrosia I believe and are always wonderful flavored. I need to water it all well and spend most of a day pulling weeds and grass, but also need to mow the yard and continue brush hogging the pasture. Oddly the one thing that has done the worst is my wildflower patch at the end of the garden, if it doesn't get better soon it's going to become my turnip patch.
