  1. Don't see why anyone would be upset at arrows shot intontheir flotation or boat. Seems kind of petty.

    What's Cooking?

Looks like it would make a good parts cleaner for really dirty items. Toss them in there overnight and in morning, all clean. Could double as a trout or carp cooker. The leftover solvent wouldn't hurt the flavor of them.
  3. You Sir are banned for life. But only if we get that 5 inches of rain.😄
  4. Plan is to continue releasin current amount of 3000 cfs for quite a while. Should begin to drop close to 6 inches a day. Long term forecast with NO rain is first week of August to return to normal.

Wow, if I had feeling they would be hurt. That Greek salad looks delicious.
  6. Excellent!

    What's Cooking?

I was barefoot this time, or possible wearing cowboy type boots with shorts.
  8. Up until the 1980s carp were so hard to catch only the most detracted anglers tried, amazing that the $8 plus billon a year carp industry developed so recently Strange, when I was growing up in the 70s carp were certainly not scarce or difficult to catch, we trot lined for them, pressure cooked and canned bunch of them. They were literally everywhere. Oddly trout and carp cook about them same, and while I don't categorically dislike trout, I do like a baked carp better than a trout.

    What's Cooking?

Well tonight's supper started with promise, beef, onions and garlic. Sadly it was ground beef and ended up in some hamburger helper, which isn't bad as I kind of like the stuff. Add a skillet of thin sliced parsnips browned in some butter and open a can of Bush Grillin Beans and poof, hillbilly supper. No pics, only thing worthy of that would be the parsnips, though the beans do look pretty good too.
  10. Pomme is dropping now. Have fallen below the record level and hopefully will continue the fall as releases ramp up. If the precipitation will stay away the drop should be steady.
  11. I think 888 or so for Stockton, but don't remember for sure.
  12. If it is a typical missouri summer and major rain events don't happen, mid August should see normal levels again. But Missouri has a way of changing things.
  13. Seems like years back you had to own 75 acres to get free landowner tags, but can't say for sure. I buy a couple tags for myself and a couple for my wife, even though they will happily send me tags until I am sick of cleaning deer, for free. I live within one of the CWD special zones. 5 was enough last year and it's never difficult to find takers for the meat.
  14. Working on it.
  15. Ok see if I can explain this s l o w l y If a rent a chick goes to a store and buys a bikini and wears it to LOZ, then ten years later your wife finds just the bottoms in some corner of your love boat and now it’s a speedo your forced to wear at the lake....get it? In a world of dumb things I have seen this may be a prize winner. There is no logical way to argue or discuss statement like this, time would be better spent telling the tree in my yard that I love it.
  16. Wish I had me a bucket of them gills, delicious!
  17. With braid I always set the drag loose enough that a good hook set will slip it, even on crappie and walleye. If in doubt I will loosen it a bit and go old school and lay a finger against the spool if some big grabs it and run.
  18. You don't close them for the summer, you just close the ones you know are going to be closed for a while. Especially through he July 4th weekend, people need time to make or change their plans. The rains predicted over the Osage basin for the next few days will tell the tale about pool records, releasing water etc. Pomme is still sitting at .24 below record pool with only the minimum outflow. Something over 50% of campsites there are closed at least through the holiday weekend. Most will be closed much longer. The rules for when and how much water to release are fairly cut and dried and don't get deviated from without a seriously good reason.
  19. Eggzaktly.
  20. Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.
  21. That is a planned release. ALL will depend on the next few days and rain.
  22. I feel ya. I drove almost 8 hrs round trup to bring back a 12 wk old Border collie puppy for my wife. It is most definitely HER dog. But that's OK, it was supposed to be.
  23. Catch carp, don't catch carp whatever makes you happy. Break the rules and win prizes for stupidity.
  24. All that water in the Pomme River is back water from Truman. We just keep holding and waiting to either be able to release or to set a new record. Creeping ever closer to a new record. Only a few more inches to go.
  25. Had to be careful out in the woods because Mama Sow would build a nest have babies in there all you would see is her snout sticking out. If you got too close she would put you up a tree. Used to raise free range hogs when I was a kid, even a good tempered sow was a ferocious creature when she thought she was protecting a littler of piglets.
