What he said, Alberto knot for my Nanofil to mono leaders. Took me a long time to get it right for some reason but now I use it all the time.

I am planning on a crappie trip this weekend to LOZ, just found out it is also BBB weekend. I may need a hideout.. or may tuck my tail and slink back to Pomme.

Many of those same categories exist in fishermen too, oblivious, don't care and the ones we don't notice much, the decent polite ones, they exist on the water, at the launch ramps (my favorite), and on the roads. Although I would say the percentages are a bit different. But I have had ski boats idle up to where we were fishing and say, "we want to pull our kids on a tube just outside the mouth of this cove, will we be bothering you?

We will.paint your yard black and gold.

Heck if I could find more than 10 at a time I would. If all you need is someone to stand behind you, drink beer, and kibbutz your every move, then may I humbly submit my name for consideration. I have learned well from my wife and think I am ready to go professional.

There are some shallow fish, but they are really hit and miss on finding them. Some of he fish we are catching shallow have tails that are getting a little ragged. Last night I could see beds in about 3 feet of water. Last night I cleaned a few and the eggs are getting loose and ready. BTW outflow was reduced today to basically match inflow, so lake will be stable to very slowly rising which should really turn them on.

Heck I would attend a blast at LOZ, to far and too cold for jigfest for me. I will happily bring or donate a big ole pork loin for a smoker. And catching carp is fun, but then so is drinking beer and harassing each other.

Walleye are masters at utilizing a minute bit of lessened force to perform a head shake and hook spit. Can't tell how many times I have had it happen, sucks that it was such a big one.

That thing looks like it came from the cooling pond for a nuclear power plant..

Heard today they are still catching whites up river. Also crappie are getting better every day. Fished near dam for about 20 minutes before work this morning, 4 keepers and a drum, plus missed a couple hits. Up shallow.

I bought one after having several spots removed from face and ears. That thing is HOT and uncomfortable. Not even sure where it is right now. I am going back to spf50 sunblock. -
Like any profession some are better than others, some are great investigators and some have great people skills, some dont. Don't know if I have told this one or not. Many years ago at Smithville there was a big ole boy who was an agent, one day he walked down to the shoreline to ask a boater to see their fishing licenses, the fishermen make some smart alek comment along the lines of well why don't you come out and get them. The agent, a rather tall man simply walked straight out to the boat, grabbed it and pulled them up to the bank. The rest of the encounter was rather subdued. I also saw him teach an older Vietnamese lady with a bucket of short crappie to speak English. She was going on about no speakey, when he said lady I am going take you to jail in 30 seconds! Her next worda were "those arenot my fish, someone gave them to me "Turns out she spoke quite fluent english. Willie was laughing about it so much that he could barely write her a ticket.

Sure sound like her. She is a nice lady when you aren't in violation, but she doesn't take BS and doesn't appreciate I ate people lying to her. Lots if people dislike her, but I have never had an issue with her.
-
She had already spoken with them, and was checking for presence of a firearm in the vehicle as it had a big light bar on top, and was along way from the road. I guarantee she would wade through a cesspool to check someone she had any suggestion of wrongdoing.

I met up with one the other day at work, female no less. Someone had gone off roading and gotten majorly stuck. She was in full uniform and walked like a quarter mile to the truck. I stopped at the big sloppy mudhole, she never broke stride and went right into it, nice shiny boots and clean uniform and all.

I didn't know yiu could get pollen alerts even, I just look outside at the hood my truck. For the first 40 years of my life I was allergic to nothing, then at one point I was sick enough that I hoped someone would shoot me. Went to the Dr and he said, you are miserable but not sick. Whaaat, apparently immunity to pollen isn't always a lifelong benefit, now I just take zyrtec and am good, well except for the side effect of loss of taste/flavor.

Most of the time you can see a storm coming if you are watching. Problem with me is I aint watching the sky I am fishing. Still I usually have enough time to make it back to the ramp, because i am not far from it, almost never enough time to load up on trailer before getting drenched. Rain no big deal, I keep extra clothes in truck, lightning very big deal I haven't got an extra life in there. Have had to duck into a dock almost back to the ramp when you can see it coming across the lake, k owing you ain't gonna beat it. Have set out a couple heavy hailstorms under a dock roof, they are loud!

It's time in BilletHeadVille

I fall very much into that category FW. My wife loves morels, I like them well enough but since I don't turkey hunt it gives me a reason to out wandering through the woods for a couple hours at a time. BTW I suck at finding them.Ticks, no problem apparently they don't appreciate blood with chemo poisons it it. Blackberries, if they are good ones I would go a fair ways for, trying to circumvent that by growing my own. -
Next week it will happen. Pomme always lags behind on the spawn. They have been up shallow a couple times, lake dropping hard right now. Middle to lake next week it is gonna explode.
-
Here are a few notes. Sapp landing, currently at 715 truman lake will be over the parking lot. Might be down by the 27th. I think it has to be 712 or less to be able to use that ramp. However if it is fishing should be good after running some water out of Pomme. Alternative launch points for Truman would be Fairfield, nice big ramp. LOZ has been red hot lately with crappie up shallow. Pomme is dropping hard right now and it's tough unless you fish the piles in 15 to 20 FOW. However the outflow should drop back to minimal about the middle of next week and then it will be on. If you want to go to the PP access from wheatland park, know that the bridge is out, being replaced so it's a bit of a detour to get there. By water from Bolivar landing is doable, go slow and be OUT by dark, the river gets very very dark quickly. And as mentioned there are a lot of stumps to hit as well. But it does hold a lot of fish. Also by road to Bolivar landing will require a detour due to the bridge work as well. So far this year I am way behind on my fishing, just haven't had the time.

He was very lucky, quite often the circle of death doesn't end well. Good reminder for all of us.
-
Nah, it will be more like carp fishing, full camo and never tell anybody where you were.
-
Or maybe Farmers Insurance, "first run and done", or "boat that don't float", we covered that.
-
Maybe he heard there was a shallow bite. And instead he bit the shallows. Maybe it rain big and float him off.
-
Honestly not trying to be a jerk but it dpends. Usually will hit pretty quickly. Lindley rises quicker but galls off quicker also. Pomme de Terre river takes a little longer to come up but stays up longer and usually carries more water. It just depends on where in the watershed it falls and how much. Pomme de Terre lake has a relatively small watershed compared to larger lakes, but a direct hit of heavy rain in the watershed will pop the lake quickly, and for an extended time. Lots of variables.
