  1. FYI the outflow has been increased to 2500 cfs as of today. Remains to be seen what happens with the storms predicted for later this week.
  2. Them chunky rascals would make a drag sing for sure. Water dropping not hurting the bite I guess.
  3. High end electronics are just tools. Like any end tool if the operator know how to use thwm properly and we'll they can make a difference, if not well it won't make much difference. Sort of like a bad fisherman (like me) buying a super high end G Loomis bronze back rod and putting a $400 reel on it, ain't gonna make much difference. On the other hand give a good fisherman a $50 rod and $50 reel and he will beat me like a rented mule. Now with all that said, I wish I had some cool high end electronics, I have a $100 depth finder, console only.
  4. Likely I would have ended it's life, but that is way overshadowed by the fun of catching an unexpected big fish. I once caught a probably 50# grass carp in a 7 acre pond on a rapala and medium weight spinning rod. And last night I had the living crap scared out of me while crappie fishing. Walking the bank and out of the back of a covery there was a splash and a wave being pushed by something, figured it was a beaver and sort of forgot him. A little bit later a pair of buffalo nearly ran into my feet, and saw me just as I saw them.and EXPLODED out of there. Smaller one was maybe 15, boffer one looked twice that big as I was wiping water out of my eyes and wondering if I had wet myself. Surprise big fish are always interesting at least.
  5. All I can say is WOW!!
  6. Yeah I have seen a few floating filled with water and we're right at the waterline but still floating and came in under trolling motor power. But have have seen or written reports on several that simply sank. I now have zero faith in a boat staying afloat when filled with water.
  7. Mmmm i love i me some deep fried sucker fillets. Craving a sucker sammich. 2 pieces of buttered white bread, scored and deep fried fillet, a layer of fried taters and onions and a bit of picante sauce. Wash it down with a malted beverage of your choice.
  8. I did one with white bass a couple years ago, it was good too. Don't remember what recipe used though. Had the chowder and put a freshly fried piece if white bass gently on top for purtiness.

    What's Cooking?

Things have been hectic today, wife's furry princess, a 12 yr old Border Collie is in failing health. But did get a chance to reward a pig for giving up its loin by grilling it with a lot of garlic and herbs. Add a skillet of broccoli and cauliflower sautéed up and we shall call it supper. Dang actually had a photo and forgot it.
  10. I will just have to keep my 90 HP Yama ha 2 stroker I guess. Can't afford a trade anyway. And the way this year is going a 1970 Evinrude 18 HP would be just as good.
  11. We have a 50 HP Suzuki 4 stroker on a work boat at work, has never missed a beat.
  12. I was thinking the same thing. For a mower or ATV tire I wouldn't hesitate to put a smaller one in, as long as it wuld go in. Heck they only get like 15 PSI in them, though mine might get a bit more at times.
  13. Hmm Slime website.says it's bogus. https://www.slime.com/us/blog/5-tire-sealant-myths-busted.php
  14. Hmm, never even heard of slime causing that. I have it in my ATV, my mower tires, and at least one tractor tire. I guess if I have problems now I will blame BilletHead.
  15. Wow, that's a nice male wally. The boys always come to the party first, the girls will be along. Sounds like quite a few walls being caught, along with white bass. Sadly circumstances are limiting my time to give them a try, so keep posting pics, my phone is water resistant so won't hurt it if I drool or cry on it.
  16. Nice one!
  17. Nice gills there!
  18. We had some trees for many years, hopefully still alive this year. Don't get ripe until about deer season, have dug many of them out of the grass and snow to make pies. Last few years warm gall weather has caused them to rot after they fall. And they are some rock hard ones until ripe, but have a wonderful flavor.
  19. Love Arkansas Black apples, will buy some more trees if I ever find them
  20. Reverse Hillbilly. I like it.
  21. Looks kind of like a brook silverside but can't tell much.
  22. After a running litany of excuses I am finally on the board. Planted lettuce, radishes and spinach in my old cold frame. Didn't get rebuilt like I had planned, too many things and too little time and $. I also have a bunch of zucchini seeds soaking and ready to go into a starter tray. Pulled a back muscle at bottom of short ribs and a little planting is about all I can accomplish right now. Garden itself is only going to get maters, zucchini, cukes and canteloupes. Leftover space will get a heavy mix of pollinators flowers. I still have strawberries and asparagus to play with as well. And should be receiving a new plants for it and a few Thornley blackberries and whatever else my wife ordered maybe raspberries.
  23. I once postulated that in 50 years we will be mining landfills for the materials. Springfield at one point was talking about having a Material Recovery Facility that would sort out anything valuable or recyclable and the compostables. I say combine that with a prison and let the prisoners work it. Non violent offenders only, for every year worked a year is also taken of their sentence. Heck include a max facility and execute the truly bad ones and compost them too. Would never be economically feasible but so what, my painkillers are kicking in so it sounds like a good idea.
  24. I wish I could economically set up a small wind turbin with solar panels on the south side of it and produce my own electricity. Economically is the key. Right now I wish a windmill was pumping water for me.
  25. For nuke plants things like earthquakes and apparently Tsunamis are bad. I doubt a tornado could do much to them except for minor damage. Biggest threats to them otherwise seem to be multiple failures within as they have redundant systems. Of course there are several different types of designs. What I want is a reactor that i can load with everyone's trash and garbage, use it to produce electricity, compost, recyclables and clean water, at a low design and build cost, and cheap/easy to operate. Is that too much to ask. Some of the landfills that use the methane produced to run generators, heat buildings etc. Well that is awesome just not practical on a large scale sadly.
