  1. Sweet boat. I especially like the last picture. It's good to see a few die hards keeping the traditional Jons in use.
  2. Interesting, do you have any pictures of the finished boat?
  3. Last time I looked into it outside storage in our area was about $400.00 a year. For a modest boat it's just not worth it.
  4. Nice fish, If I had a buck for every abandoned limb or trot line I see on the gasconade I could retire. It's a wonder we don't hear about tragic drownings from being empaled by trot lines.
  5. Happy birthday!
  6. Can we slander him by posting that picture on one of the empty billboards on HWY 44 near the Cuba exit? Maybe with douch bag written boldly below it? I'll pitch in the first $100.00
  7. It's enough to make my blood boil. I'm afraid I would be disappointed at whatever fine this moron gets.
  8. Yep. Every mans hero.
  9. Welcome Goob, The only sure way to be scorned on this site is to kill and keep precious Smallmouth Bass, most every thing else is good. If you have any questions fire away.
  10. What a great tradition, the kind of thing that can change a life. Thanks for sharing.
  11. Boy, that's a special car. I need whatever your putting in that tank.
  12. It does indeed make sense but in this day and age many spend so much time listening to the media who tell them that people with differing opinions are advasaries that we have turned into advasaries. Truth of the matter is if left to reason for ourselves we all would find we have much more in common that not.
  13. As a routine I always look at the river on google earth prior to a trip and look again when I get back, kind of a spatial briefing/debriefing. I don't think that helps my success directly but it does give me an understanding of the habitat and where to focus my efforts.
  14. Excellent pictures of a great trip. A good example of doing it right.
  15. In an ideal situation the wind or current is taking me where I want to go and I'm just using the trolling motor to make minor corrections. When I am using the motor to work an area I'll turn it on and off because low speed is never low enough. There have been occasions when my battery was dying and low speed was just right.

    Rip Rfc

Yes, I think I still have one. Think I'll pull it out of my regular box and add to my box of tying examples. RIP Ray,
  17. Yeah, me too. If you were to scrutinize me close enough you would almost always find something I'm doing wrong, my ex wife was an expert at that.
  18. Great, I'll give him a call. I forgot to mention, this trip is all about a chance to see some of the pig Smallmouth that I've been hearing about.
  19. New River in West Virginia has finally moved to the top of my short list of rivers to see and fish. I’m pretty green on the area and have just started planning an August trip. I have a couple of guide books and a Map coming in the mail, tips on accommodations, a deep respect for white water but really don’t know much about what sections of the river offer what fishing opportunities. The plan is pretty modest, a guide trip or two, researching the river for future do it myself trips and some time spent exploring local small streams. I appreciate any comments or recommendations. Thanks, Mike
  20. Who is Paula Dean? A nobody. Who is she in trouble with? No one important. Self appointed celebrity's, who create controversy in an attempt add to their own value don't matter in a world outside of television.
  21. I once saw a tow truck towing a car through north St Louis with no wheels at all, sparks flying, running all the stop signs. I'd say these fellows are up too something fishy as well.
  22. I watch a huge grass carp eating mulberries on crooked creek a few years back. My brother caught it on a bluegill popper. An epic battle, took almost an hour to land on a 6 wt.
  23. Great fish, being a weekend warrior isn’t so bad especially when you have friends. Big fish, tiny creek, don’t reports like this reinforce our constant assertion that backward regulations, angling pressure and catch and keep fishing have decimated the size structure in our larger rivers. Over the course of a typical season my largest Smallies generally come from the smallest waters I fish.
  24. Emotion trumps intellect most every time.
  25. Last time I had a hook in me it was late in the day and I was miles from my take out. Two of three trebles were buried almost too where they all tie together. That was such a mess I’m just now working up the nerve to fish with a fully barbed WTD again.
