  1. That Johnny Cash was what I needed to end end this day, I’m saving Willie, it I’ll be a good way to start tomorrow. Thanks Bob,
  2. The upper Mississippi valley is beautiful, thanks for the report.
  3. Yes, at the boat ramp on Niangua, we ate baloney sandwiches, had a great time, nice guy, he loves that river.
  4. I’d rather spend the day with those ole boys and their noddle rods than some young bucks and their exaggerated double hauls. Fun video, thanks for posting.
  5. I haven’t seen the river but it should be perfect, good luck.
  6. Go through the Joplin image history on google earth, it’ll put a knot in your gut.
  7. Yeah, it should run in 4” empty 6”-8” loaded, of course you can’t be afraid of kissing a rock or two. Sounds like a perfect boat for me, the timing is just not right.
  8. Now that would be a good use of Metrology.
  9. Thanks Bob, I might take you up on that.
  10. Haha, A while back I had a Penobscot 16 with the wood trim, it was a sweet boat. You may still have a chance to pick this one up, my truck rack is toast and I don't think I'm up throwing canoes over my head any more. Does anyone have a recommendation for a canoe trailer?
  11. I think I'm familiar with that boat. I sent you a PM.
  12. Yes it is, excellent design, fabrication and finish. Thanks for the link.
  13. Cool boat, I’d like to know more.
  14. Thats funny, I had Tri State cut down the shaft on mine a few years ago, it’s been backwards ever since.
  15. It’s nice to see Rainbows living in the river long enough to grow. Thanks for sharing.

    No Butcher

First couple of years the brother and I hunted we took our deer to processors, next few years we field dressed them and processed them in the garage, then we took a our stuff to the farm and started butchering them in camp. Now we have it down to about an hour an animal. If I need to mix sausage or fat in to make burgers I thaw and do it one dinner at a time.
  17. I haven’t picked up a fishing magazine in decades, they’re like Ken Burns documentaries, I can’t get my brain to think that slow. I do recall a story LD wrote called Ain’t No Such Animal, (Sports Afield?) I must have been 12-14 years old at the time. It was the first time I read anything about an Ozark river or heard of the Big Piney River. I guess Larry did some good there.
  18. I’m sorry, may he Rest In Peace.
  19. The Sand Hills are beautiful, thanks for the report.
  20. I’m sorry, one of the most dangerous rivers in America takes another life. My thoughts go to his family and friends.
  21. A coworker (mid 50s) got it several months ago, spent two weeks in the hospital, part of that time on a ventilator. At this point he has difficulty walking from one end of his house to the other, its likely he be permanently disabled. A friend (mid 30s) also got it back in the spring time. He felt horrible, tested positive. The nurse told him they could not admit him to the hospital unless “he is ready to die” (a paraphrased quote). A couple of days later he felt like we was ready to die, he was admitted, spent one day in a ventilator and went home. He is fully recovered. What you and I think doesn’t matter, in time history will judge us. I doubt we will fare well.
  22. Mr and Mrs Skink alway put on a good show in our burb garage, especially during matting season. I’ve live in a few neighborhoods where I never seen anything more interesting than a cockroach, I always figured the lack of wildlife was a relic of the toxic past because there was plenty of habitats. We recently moved to the country, we’ve started a life list for the new home. So far everything we’re seen has been pretty interesting but I’m sure we’ll have our share PIA critters.
  23. Those are some very nice fish.
