  1. I use 50-65lb braid 3/4 of the year fishing 8ft or less. Don't let the clear water bother you and think you need to use lighter tackle to catch big fish. Fish your strengths and apply it here and you will be fine. With the temps changing it should make them aggressive so power fish away! Good luck!
  2. Fish your strengths, as Bo said certain sections of the lake can fish better for some reason. I know what success their has been lately has been up the white river somewhere. It may not appear on the temp gauge but certain areas cool just enough to get things moving further along to fall patterns or other patterns throughout the year. There are always fish shallow year round or deep and in between depths. Most of the shallow fishing you are definitely fishing for quality than quantity. When the day is over your trolling motor batteries and gas tank will be running low. Its called THE ROCK for a reason! The worse the weather the better the fish bite!
  3. It's not half as bad as Guntersville! Just saying. Cooler weather is around the corner and fishing will improve.
  4. Location and timing is the best fish catcher. Throw your confidence bait when this happens and you my friend will have fun.
  5. We have a guy in our bass club that has transplanted Brownies in the upper Kings and it has been productive. Last November when FLW had their Championship Cody Bird almost won it running way up the river catching Brownies.
  6. Elite "Shaker", bladed jigs shake alot to me😁
  7. Diddo for the daytime bite better fish are right on the bank on specific cover. A man can make a good milk run and have a chance at good bag but they have to cover tons of water.
  8. I happened upon a 3 lb smallie that had been brought up to quick I quickly pulled out my needle to fizz him. Insert under the crusher, hold fish under water, watch bubbles until they stop fish was as good as new.
  9. It floats and when the ice melts the jug is soft. It doesn't take very long for the ice to melt when temps are in the upper 80's to 90. It's more efficient too. You don't have to tear out a bag of ice. Once it's cooled the water you pull the jug dump the water and put another one in. Bringing it from the house also means one less thing to spend money on while fishing.
  10. G juice is great. I know alot guys use rejuvenate too. I run my live wells on manual, the g juice bubbles like crazy the whole time creating more oxygen. The milk jug trick also acts as shock absorber s while running on a rough lake so the fish don't get bounced as bad.
  11. I would leave the sissy rods in the rod box until you come back to the area. Best of luck to you in the future.
  12. I heard years ago now that students MSU and the conservation put tracking devices in 500 fish and they were all 5lbs. It was done in the Kings river.
  13. Go Hogs! Football is around the corner fellas. I sit back and enjoy my little bass catcher it's been a process to see him grow and learn.
  14. Hit the lake this morning before the monsoon hit. Me and my boy pulled a Caddey Shack day needless to say. We found a dock to park under and the whack fest commenced. Caught 10 in 12 casts. 6 keepers. When the thunder boomed they shut off for a bit. However, we point hopped and continued to find solid bites through out the day. Ended with 30 fish and 12 keepers. All Brownies and Blacks. Dragging jigs in 15-25ft did the work. Tricked a couple on a plopper when the sun popped out. My boy took home big fish bragging rights with a solid 4 lber. We scared a solid 17-18lbs today. Will try and upload some pictures.
  15. Well said fellows. Enjoy the weekend.
  16. Bassmod, I put in Mill Creek, made myself a parking hole without blocking the road access. It was a mad house taking out.
  17. Fished the 3rd qualifier today. Started out in fog, had 1-2 bites an hour fishing for quality with winding baits. Running the backyard pattern from KC to Baxter. Several boats in the same areas some were beating the banks as I was and some were fishing just outside with bottom stuff. Caught 8 keepers. Weighed 3 blacks 2 spots weighed 11.5 lbs. Just a few places out of the check line. Mr. Fann blasted 18lbs today for the win. 2 15lb bags, 1 13lb bag, then logjam of 12-11lbs. Fish were very scattered fishing shallow. Good luck guys.
  18. Moto, can a person idle under the north side of bridge.
  19. Fish the steep cuts along the channel with spinnerbait or jig. You won't even have to get on plane in order to save a lower unit! Be safe!
