  1. Champ.....I guess you get more kick out of catching a 2 lb. bass with 25 lb. test line so you can wolf it in so fast it surfs on top of the water....lol Source:
  2. Seems like you are a bigger man than your past would have assumed.God Bless you and yours.
  3. Praying.
  4. Coach, I wish i could be there to help the youngsters learn to fly cast, but distance and physical limitations won't allow. God bless you in your work with HOFNOD....your rewards will be many and significant. Chambug
  5. We can hope that nature will solve the problem....like a spell of the coldest winter we have seen in decades.
  6. Taneycomo in Branson, Mo is a very good trout river/lake. Give it a try....I'm sure you will like it. Get more info from Phil Lilley.
  7. My wife and I were at Greer, AZ fishing for trout and i was catching them steadily with a trout lure I designed and made. This nice young guy came over and asked me what I was using on my fly rod. I gave him a few, and he began catching them. He thanked me profusely and I found out he was the assistant football coach at AZ State U. That night he came by the cabin with his wife and two beautiful daughters. I showed him how to make the lure and gave him some of the materials for doing so. During the next couple of days we all dined together a couple of times. My wife and I never enjoyed Greer so much. He is now the head coach at ASU, and I'm one of their steady fans.
  8. Source: So now we have a H'man candidate that has sex with a college girl he met at a bar, and does it in front of some of his buddies. I hope he doesn't get it.
  9. Extremely embarrassed bear!!!! Source:
  10. Whoever wins the national championship will have to beat Baylor. and if stats are the determining factor....The bears are in.
  11. I just got home from an all-student school assembly that honored all vets in our small community. They made this a special day, and the comments on here added to it. To all my comrades-in-arms: God bless you and yours; and it was an honor to serve with you. chambug Collinsville, TX US Air Force 1960-1964
  12. Right idea, Wayne!
  13. Welcome Pat, Do you fly fish?
  14. To Big Brown Trout: I have been reminded that i dwell with an old mind in my head that does not remember as well as it used to. I apologize for giving you the wrong information about the trout you can keep when fishing the dam area on Taneycomo. Gatorjet is right....the limit is four per person. Get him to tell you this also: What comprises "possession"? Also ask him to explain: "That is person to person" and "If keeping your catch is important, don't even bother going up to the dam." For reasons that gatorjet would not understand, the dam area is the only place i have fished except for a float trip on one of Lilley's pontoon boats. Every case where i caught my four and a legal brown, they were consumed shortly after being caught, and I could care less about the "looks" from the other fishermen. Ease up gatorjet....you temperament is old before its time. chambug
  15. I guess this is as good a place as any to share some appreciation to many that i have met at Taneycomo. I have enjoyed fishing with dozens of men and women in the area below the dam at the No. 1 outlet below the hatchery. My most notable mis-hap was on a cold day when my hands lost most of their feeling. I was wading about twenty feet off the bank when I hooked a good brown that literally jerked the rod out of my cold fingers. I staggeringly chased the fleeing rod for about 20 feet, lunging to my knees to barely reach the butt of my rod. Luckily, my waders did not dip, and I scrambled back to my feet, but in the process, a slack line let the brown spit my Chambug lure out. About a dozen fly fishermen got a good laugh, but most inquired about my possible need for help. My health challenges have prevented me from visiting Taney the last couple of years, but this ol' Texas fly nut will not forget the pleasures my family and i have enjoyed there. I especially want to thank the Lilley family and their employees. Lilley's Landing has always been our "home on Taney" and every occasion has been a pleasant experience. To all my trout buddies: God bless you and yours! chambug
  16. Go for it!!! Taney is among the best trout locations in the US. Fly fishing? I'd bet you get your six to eat, and 12 if the wife fishes. I've never caught less than 25 Rainbows per day, and usually a few Browns, but only seldom a 20 incher. The guide idea is good if you can afford them, but i just go below the dam, south of the hatchery very early in the am and late pm. Do it like you want to....and keep it legal. The shop at Lilleys is a good place to visit when you first arrive.
  17. Uhhhhhhhhhh....hmmmmmmmmm....errrrrrrrrrrrrr Down here in Texas we don't like to brag, but.... My rangers are 22 games over .500!!!!! No brag....just fact!
  18. I think I get your "drift"....
  19. Thanks Phil! Question: How has the habitat creation worked for the trout anglers? I haven't been able to be there since the boulders were introduced.
  20. A buddy and I were plugging toward the bank from my bass boat. We rounded a point and saw a squirrel sitting on a stump about 3 feet out from the bank. As we watched, a very large black bass leaped over the stump and gobbled the squirrel. While we discussed the chances of us being a witness to this very unlikely event, the bass swam up and placed another pecan on the stump. (I forgot to state that we were fishing on Lake TEXoma, but that same bass told me the MO nuts would correct me if i didn't say acorn.)
  21. Best illustration i've ever seen of a liberal arguing for Obamacare! (Were there any witnesses when the photographer clamped the head onto that snakes tail?) Just askin'.
  22. It's the rule of supply and demand....I demand my wife lets me go fishing, and she supplies...."Fine, but don't dare bring any home!"
