  1. Went with a friend on Sunday. We put in HI, fished around there for a while and worked our way down to Panther where we finished the day. Only had 4 small ones. The water is more clear up around HI than it is around Roaring River and Panther.
  2. If I lived in texas, up north or in Florida I would want them. I can't justify getting them here on these deep lakes though because it's not often you would or could use them here.
  3. Yeah, no not me! That's just nuts!
  4. Don't forget lightning can travel 10 miles so that needs to be kept in mind. Be safe!
  5. I use Weather Bug lightning tracker. It works well.
  6. Wishing him a quick and complete recovery.
  7. Thanks for the information. Unfortunately the only time I can fish it is on weekends unless I take a vacation day.
  8. Any one fish the SWEPCO lake? Is there a forum for it? What works well on that lake. Thinking of fishing it.
  9. I had no love Sunday either. I put in at HI around 11:30, fished till 4 and never had a bite. I marked fish but they were not interested in my offerings. Fished down to Roaring River.
  10. Thats a great morning on the rock!
  11. Holy cow, that's huge!
  12. Great buck! Awesome in anyones book!
  13. Nice! Congratulations!
  14. Yep! Put up a pretty good fight. She jumped a couple times and took a dive underneath the boat a couple of times.
  15. It was a beautiful day! Not many boats at all, a breeze that kept it from feeling hot and on and off cloud cover.
  16. Thanks!
  17. Put in about 2:00 at Eagle Rock and ran down to the mouth of Roaring River. There was a nice breeze and thought about throwing a sb or a crank bait but opted for a white chatter bait instead. I started working my way down a steep bank letting the bait sink a bit. I threw toward a transition area, let it sink then started cranking. Got about 4 or 5 turns of the handle and my line just stopped. I wound up with a 6 pounder on that one. After that it was all smalls. I did get a few on a top water and a few on drop shot. Water temp was 78. Got off the water about 6:30.
  18. I was on the lake fishing over memorial weekend. Put in at HI and worked my way down to Roaring River. There were a lot of wake boats out. There were quite a few times I was running on plane and had to shut down to an idle because of wakes from several directions. I wound up going up RR to get out of the traffic. Caught a few fish up there but nothing to brag about. After traffic died down some I headed back to HI and fished the bluffs betwee the marina and Haddock creak.one wake boat hung around for a bit then left. I hear a plane and look up to see an older amphibious plane (looked kinda like a buccaneer) coming in for a landing. He actually did a touch and go but he had to pull up pretty quick and steep as a boat came around the bend just as he did that. Wish I had had my phone videoing it.
  19. Was that the one that took place in Africa or India? If I remember right it was in a country where it has become an invasive species. From the first grade on up through high school we all (native and missionary kids) swam in those waters with pacu and piranha and never had an incident with pacu. Piranha is a diferent story. I lived in the jungles of both Peru and Bolivia.
  20. Pacu are related to piranha but don't go after people...BUT, if there is not much vegetation or berries for them to eat I would advise men not to skinny dip. They have been known to go for men's "berries." If you catch one while fishing they are excellent eating as is piranha. The bigger the pacu the better. They get up to about 90 lbs. I have caught one that was about 30 lbs. As they get bigger the red goes away. We ate them a lot in Bolivia.
  21. Glad you are alive and you still have a hand. I hope you heal well. Physical therapy is going to be a booger but hang in there! Thanks for reminding us all not to get lax with our safety. Prayers for you. Becky
  22. Drum actually are great fish for ceviche if you know what that is. In the jungles of Peru we ate that a lot.
  23. Condolences and prayers for you and family.
  24. Thats way to long to go without fishing!
