  1. Falcon Cara Reaction CCB-4-17MR "medium runner". Great tip, good parabolic bend, and a little more backbone than lots of medium action crankbait rods to help get those hooks set and control the occasional big bass. As for old vs new.. I have more confidence in the old ones, but there are several variants of the old ones. I think a great wart fisherman could do just fine on the new ones compared to an average fisherman with the old ones, but a great wart fisherman, with a great old wart (not all old warts are great ones) would truly put some hurt on the bass.
  2. I know someone who fished in the rain on Bull and had a pretty good day on "the rig that shall not be named"
  3. I had a baby zebra come back on my line. Hung up at the knot on a custom painted pre-rap wart. Needless to say that one got retied after that cast. I probably would have thrown the Ned a little when it slowed down if I had tied one on. As it was, if I didn't get bit on the wart or jerk, I just cranked the optimax up and moved on to the next spot.
  4. Good job on going to the Ned! I didn't catch anywhere near 65 fish. I had enough wind that the Ned wasn't an option. The fish seemed to be on the windiest parts of the banks, if I got even a few yards off the sweet spot I wasn't getting bites. The Smallies I was catching were in the 17-18" range as well as the LMB. I guess I had the next year class up on the smallmouth. Either way though, the bite is on right now! Only question is where do they go when the front passes and the bluebird skies come out???
  5. I know there is a review board, but I thought I'd post here because there is more traffic. I can't say enough how FUN this rod is!!! It loads perfectly on the cast, flings a vision 110 a mile, and has the perfect action for working the bait. No kidding, I have gotten WAY more proficient at jerkbaiting since buying this stick this spring. Fish just load up on it, and it's soft action lets them eat the bait deep. A good sweep and they are hooked! I really thought I wasn't going to like the rod, because I thought it was too soft, but holy crap was I wrong!!! Seriously- out of all of my Loomis and Falcon rods, I don't think I have a combo that works any better than this rod paired with the Lews BB-1 for a given technique. It's just bloody perfect. CCB-4-165JBS jerkbait special. Way to go Falcon!
  6. Granted, I was on Bull, but they worked pretty well today-
  7. Bull Shoals. Surface temp 55°, air temp 45, ESE Wind @ 9-12 mph. 20+ fish to the boat. 12 or 13 solid keepers. Several nice smallmouth. Wiggle wart and jerk bait under a cloudy sky. Big chunk rock was the key for the wart on steeper banks. The jerk bait bite was the best on Bluff ends and Bluffs. Standing timber helped. Fished from Spring Creek ramp to Music Creek and back, looking for wind.
  8. That head design does look like it makes a lot of sense. I have a bunch of pigstickers left from my order last year, but I may try some of those. Bo, do you have any bulk unpackaged pricing like pigsticker offers on their jigs?
  9. We will see if any of them get bit tomorrow!
  10. I'd have to see it in the water. The pics here look bad, but I can see the idea better on the tackle warehouse pics- idk, I'm with wrench, could be a killer on a Crig if it looks right in the water
  11. And for the record, that rain gear is about 2 sizes too big for him, he IS wearing his PFD, he's just got it on under his coat.
  12. This one made my day though, he caught it all by himself, he likes keitech swimbaits now... LOL
  13. I went out on Bull today. Caught one bass on a wart, several more on traps, a few on spinnerbaits, and a few on jigs. All in all, it was a lot tougher day than I thought it would/should be. I did have my 7 year old and his grandpa with me though, so maybe had I not been "guiding" I could have caught a few more myself... My hat is off to Bill and the others here who are for real guides! I'm crazy tired from two days of ducking baits and untangling and tying and answering questions and...
  14. I'll be throwing them a little on Bull tomorrow- I'm gonna do my best to grind the paint off the lips!!!
  15. Easy. If you want to fish a small lake with a big boat, why not pull your prop off the big motor before you launch, then leave it tilted up. No way to get frisky and bend the rules then..

    Idiots

The rules of the road exist for a reason. No one is disputing anyone's right to be on the water, just their right to be ignorant of how to drive their toys. I do miss the year round water patrol officers.
  17. Ohhhh. I want! I'd love one rod with a wart and one laying next to it with one of those on a cloudy day with some wind in about another month...
  18. I'm gonna be on Bull tomorrow. I'd sure like to run into a whole bunch of strippers... The wife might get pretty mad if I come home with glitter on me..
  19. Are you 100 percent sure those were white bass? Sounds a lot like the behavior of large shad...
  20. It will only get better.. What are surface temps like down there?
  21. Turnover?
  22. BBC in a nutshell
  23. Shhhh. Stop. Giving. Away. The. Good. Stuff. ps. don't try this in the backs of the creeks on bull shoals either, especially around the rock wall in the back of spring creek. It won't work at all. Totally a waste of time.
  24. That would cure the whole fishing to close to other people's spots problem, and maybe put a serious dent in jetski and wakeboard boats next summer...
  25. Good to see you posting again Old Plug, seems like it's been a minute..
