  1. That could be a violation...I've had more than one good spot destroyed by gravel miners.
  2. Lots of good rods out there...just depends on your budget...In reels...I've had some reliability issues with Daiwa & Shimano spinning reels, but I've been very happy with Abu and Plueger.
  3. Sounds like fun...but be careful..The Lorax might have a hit out on you! That or he missed the jackwagons doing the recreational bulldozing...Report that to DNR & MDC.
  4. Great report! LMAO when I read about the Wally.
  5. You have lots of options on the Middle Meramec...Onandaga to Blue Spring is probably the most scenic stretch, but I cant say that one section is any better than another. Have fun.
  6. Nice fish....thinking 17-18" ish...Measure the distance across your knuckles and do some minor algebra if you want to know for sure.
  7. I agree. The scenery is great, but that access is overun by meth heads and the fishing is poor. I have no desire to float out of East Gate again.
  8. Kinda peaved that we didnt land a drum....there were some big ones cruising...and I made 4-5 good presentations to them...didnt act spooked..if they were redfish, they woulda ate easy but I blanked..... Dont have that species dialed in.
  9. The smile on your face is priceless....Glad you had a great time.
  10. Toothpicks work...Why mess with perfection?
  11. Thank SWMO!..rare occurance for me too! Lets go fishing on the James sometime soon...I've never floated there. Rains didnt add much to nothing on the St. JD.......Rained Thursday, Friday, & Sunday before noon...no rise that we could detect...Not bad from the park down to the rock pile..some draggin in the last half..funny watching the renters from SAB negotiate some of that. Think they dropped 6-12 boats a day.....not busy.
  12. Spent Thursday-Sunday camping down at Sam Baker kiddo camping with 3 other couples. Big Creek was dry in spots and the St. was really low. Set up Thursday and went swimming...Scouted access below 34 on Friday...and nothing looked like a good spot for the gals & kids to swim while the dad's floated on Saturday AM...Mike, Marc, and me opted for the park to 34 float on Saturday morning...Fishing...was poor by any standard...but I did catch a new personal best gar on a 1/16oz jig while fishing for shadow bass...Havent seen the pics yet...but I was at least 3' long..It peeled alot of drag, and a made a nice jump before I got it boatside. Surprized my 10lb flouro leader held.
  13. Good for you! Thats a beauty..Congrats on a new personal best!
  14. The state regulation book is always a good place to start...Restrictive limits usually equal bigger smallmouth....places with difficult access are prime too...but you will need to do your homework.
  15. Sound like a good time for a mini-vacation! Good luck with the A/C repairs.
  16. The old Nebraska Territory...covered present day Nebraska and big chunk of the mountain west including the Yellowstone area before it was divided into the Dakota, Colorado, and Nebraska Territories...then divied up into states...There is no doubt that there would have been cutthroat trout within the original boundaries of the Nebraska Territory...Present day Nebraska, not likely, but we will never know for sure. Fun to speculate...better to to fishing.
  17. Nice report fellas!
  18. Piss poor results at the quickie mart, LOL...What's your gripe?
  19. Rainwater Mandrake! It does not steal your essence! -Magor Bat Guano-
  20. Flouride Mandrake! We are blessed with an abundance of free flowing water in this State..but never trust it..Some trash filled sink hole 40 miles away can be feeding your spring. Its the nature or Karst geology.....If its not purified...steri pen, pump....tabs....probably isnt gonna kill you but dont drink it straight. Make some river tea at least...heat water...add a tea ball with some earl gray...let it roll...serve with a good splash of Bushmills. Recipe courtesy of Hank Reifess.
  21. Great report! I've been fishing the NFoW for....darn near 30 years...and I can count the number of 20"+ bows on one hand....always some nice browns down there...not the numbers you find on the Current...but the numbers of 24" plus brownies...is better I think....I've seen pics of a 28" and a 30" fly caught browns in the last couple of years...7-8 that size over the years.
  22. Nice Build! Love the paint job...room for some storage tubs too.
  23. Would be glad to share some shuttle duties with anyone who wants to fish the G Nade. My usual crew hates slow water...but I'm willing. Send me a PM anytime.
  24. Good for you!...Pink bodied hopper patterns rock for some reason...Dont know why but they seam to rock everywhere. Pink on top works for bass too.

    Drought?

Thanks for all the charts and graphs. They make it pretty clear. 1) The amount of CO2 in the atmosphere IS increasing on an annual basis. 2) The rate of increase varies, but the rate of increase appears to be trending upward. Who knows what caused the dips in the 3 low years, but somebody smarter needs to provide and explanation. A drop in the rate of increase is a good start...but I think the real goal is stable or decreasing amounts of C02 in the atmosphere. I dont know how to do that, and I'm not giving up my car.....If you buy in somebody is gonna have to figure out a way to eliminate 3-4ppm of CO2 emissions on an annual basis.
