Penzey's is were I usually source it. They have it on the shelf. Some grocery stores have it but you have to ask at the courtesy counter. Usually located next to the Dom Perignon & Cristal.
Arcadia area is nice...Not sure if the Arcadia Academy is still open. Was a good spot for lunch or some ice cream, walk the grounds, etc. Lester's in Lesterville is worth a stop to eat, pick up supplies etc. Did not make it down this year. Lots to see in the old lead belt. St Francis & Black R. drainage is mostly frog water other than the shut in stretches. Shut in stretches are allot more fun to float though. If you have the right water level. Fishing is hit or miss, but have caught over 12 species in a day on the St. Francis. Good panfishing, good catfishing, bass only fair.
Have to go get more saffron. Have enough for one more dish of Paella. Maybe 1/2 a gram. We stored it in the safe at the restaurant I used to cook at. Usually had 24-36 grams on hand.
Looks great, but rissotto kinda leaves me flat as a main dish. Will gladly devour it on a weekday, but want some naked protein and a fresh veggie next to it.
Just sold a condo on Ft. Myers Beach. Fishing there has sucked so I haven't been inclined to visit. It was a minor cash suck for the last 5-6 years, but we did get a good price for it. Prices are silly high because rates are so low... 1.9% on a 15yr, 2.75% on a 30yr. Virtually free money if you have an income and good credit..
Yes it is. Mostly Snook & tarpon, sometimes some cobia, pompano & seatrout. It sucks on the back side of Sanibel/Ft Myers area because of all the pollution coming down the Caloosahatchee out of Okeechobee. Points north and south of the poison plume are still very good.
I cant afford the big beach house either. I could get a small place on a canal with a boat lift, ocean access, and a pool, no problem. If you want the big beach house, just rent one for a week. Most of them sit vacant most of the time, and it's much cheaper than owning one.
I'd shovel mine, but do not have the time. Working 65-70hrs a week and my 4x4 plows right in. If someone would knock on the door and ask they would get a nice pay day. None have.
I love living in the St. Louis Burbs, and love to visit the Ozarks. Truth be told...if I had $5-8M to spare I'd be living on the beach in Bonita Springs, FL.
Sourced the andouille through a butcher shop that makes their own. It is usually ALLOT better. Looking for a more consistent product. Will have to look for Richard's in the STL area. Thanks.
I would sell it in a second for a hard side canoe or kayak, but fish what you have and learn your boat. Patch kit! Center seat looks best to fish from.
You can pick the head out of the water if you are a good rollcaster. Once the head is on the surface, let it rip. Have a couple sinkers, Teeny 150-300, and their OK, New SA Lines are better I'm sure. I also have a 30' shooting head set up with a running line, pretty easy to cast 120' with that setup, but line management is a pain.
Most 8' 5wts are not really well suited for deep nymphing, or streamer fishing. Small lightly weighted streamers, or shallow nymphing w/o an indicator should be doable with your rod though. I prefer a 10' rod for deep nymph fishing. Usually use a 9' 7wt for smallmouth, or 9' 9wt for saltwater, or really big flies. I would not put a sinking line on anything under a 7wt.
Many places, Big Piney, Gasconade, Jacks Fork, Buffallo. Use an outfitter to drop you in, store your vehicles, and drop one the take out on get away day. You do not want to leave vehicles for an extended period. Rarely have problems, but OOS'er tags invite them.
There is some serious gamesmanship going on by the people who want to be vaccinated. Maybe payola. I’m relatively healthy, and there are 4 80 year old women in my family that cannot get a vax in STL.
Welcome and congrats on your new boat. You will like a 12’ allot better than a 10’. Do not go wild with gizmos! Spend on a nice paddle and life jacket. Find a cooler that fits, maybe upgrade the seat.
Matching a thread color is trial & error at $5-8 a spool. You really can do it yourself. Find a box. Make a rod cradle by notching some equal sized V’s on the left and right sides and open the front. Any thread will do. Epoxy will cover it. Run the thread through the pages of a heavy hardcover book as a tensioning device. Works as good as any. YouTube it.
Nice bunch off ducks! @curtisceIt looks like the Voyager and the Landau are the same boat. Think .065 gauge, maybe .050. Thin, but it goes nowhere fast.
