Patterns come and go, and can be recycled every couple years. Fish that see 500 drifts a day can get picky. Always did better with my home made stuff. Michigan flies rock out there. Fish have never seen one.
The old school patterns tend to float a little lower, and it makes a difference at times. I would not go out west without a big box full of Madame X’s, PMX’s, and Pookie’s.
The trout program is pretty darn good considering the limited habitat that will support trout in this state. Better than allot of more famous trout states. Better than it was 20 years ago on the Current. Used to be a 3 fish > 15” limit and you could fish live bait. The “Minnow Days” are long gone, and the fishing is better for it. The Niangua & Meramec have always been 2nd class trout rivers. Marginal habitat and to much pressure on both.
Our state is an incredibly cheap state to poach in, and the Republicans in our state legislature refuse to do anything about it. Think she mis-identified her target, and panicked. A dead elk shouldn't warrant a felony charge, or jail time though. It's just a dead elk.
The Trump tax plan screwed me big time. My tax rate jumped a ton because I can’t deduct all of my state & local taxes. Big number. Need to evaluate the Biden tax plan more rigorously, but do not like it at first glance. Change in the tax code always makes me more revenue, and it is silly as hell. I am a Master of Tax Code Stupidity!
Insert black, jew, catholic, mental disability, etc in the place of poor, and your goose stepping with Adolf, Stalin, Pol Pot, Ho Chi Amin, and other mass murdering dictators.
I hardly ever see a jet boat on the Big Piney. I'd avoid the 6x to Ross Bridge stretch, that is the party float for the folks using Rich's Last Resort & Wilderness Ridge. Only two other outfitters on the Big Piney. One is at Boiling Springs near Houston, MO. Then there is Route 66 Canoe, about a mile from the Gasconade Confluence.
Just little rainbows...they hit the tail hook 95% of the time and flop off. Not the fish you want to catch unless you want a few to fry. A brown will crush a bait and hit the front hook 95% of the time.
Tin foil hat stuff right here. When an aircraft hits the ground you find very little.after it burns. Small parts of metal and people. Fingertips, teeth maybe.
I was sitting on the 20th floor of a high rise, waiting for an eye exam. Saw the second plane hit just after I signed at sat down to wait, knew it was on at that point, but by whom?
Where is that structure the put in to block the lead mine tailings? How is that working? Have not floated the Big in 3-4 yrs...would gladly drive another hour or so to fish someplace else.. Not really on my radar.
Old Scott Pics Al. Have seen em before. Hardly fished this year, last years best bass mighta gone 18”. Way to busy this year with the COVID stimulus money, and delayed tax season. Got 20 biz returns in on Tuesday. No time, so will file something then amend them all next month. Or later.
A man has gotta do what he want's to do. Before the Dawt Mill removal, you could catch them below the mill dam at times. Think they are resident in the summer now. Water is allot cooler than the lake, but within a Striper's preferred temperature range.Probably resident year round if shad run up if the fall/winter. 58-60 degree water almost year round. Thermal refuge.
