  1. Have put stuff on a site for an hour or so while we set our camp, but we pay and tag it right after we set up. Met a weird host down there a couple years ago. Drove by while we were setting up in his personal vehicle and asked for payment from my wife, then me. Told him I did not know if was or was not the host, was busy, and I'd drop my cash in the post afterwards (Figured possible scam). Turned out he was the host...but odd approach.
  2. MDC does purchase trout for the urban program. Not sure how many, but I know they buy some from a private hatchery near Steelville.
  3. All of your old favorites will still work. Small scuds, bead head midge nymphs, and tiny midge dry emergers if the are picky.
  4. Think it will stay full with casual floaters, blue hairs, and OOS folks. Prefer a more rustic setting. "Timbuktu" campground? C'mon....no relation to this continent! Why not Camp Zoe or the Schwagstock;)!
  5. Think it will stay full. Beats every other for bells and whistles within 20 miles on Hwy 19. Won't make the money back soon...but it was public funding. No note, brand new, and packed full. Hope the grass will grow on that red clay that is everywhere soon. It is what it is.
  6. Stayed their this weekend. Massive lodge and first class cabins. The store didn't sell much more than souvenirs, ice and beer. The RV sites are mostly full hookups in full sun. They have a dozen or so primitive walk in sites in the woods those looked better. Didn't try the restaurant. Limited indoor seating but a large amount of patio seating. Nice, but no character. Looks like a bass pro in the middle of nowhere. Guess it fills a need for luxury cabins and full hookup sites in that area because every site & room appeared to be full on Saturday night. Dont think that I'll stay there again.
  7. Would head to Top Gun down in Arnold and shoot a few. The rental rates are very reasonable.

    What's Cooking?

All looks wonderful. Will keep an eye out for some KC Bier. Not a fan of the effete name, but I guess it sells well. Thanks for the tip.
  9. Happy travels! Have enjoyed your posts, and wish you the best of luck. There are some pig beast smallmouth in Indiana if you look for them. If you can fish here you can fish there.
  10. I agree with Ness. Morris made a big bet with Goldman's money. If it does not go well, Goldman Sachs will own him and want to cash out quickly. Will definetely add more to the top line, but not sure about the bottom line. Hope it goes well for the folks who work at both places.
  11. Outstanding! Good for you guys!
  12. You should open one If you want to lose money. Destination location, folks come with stuff they bought elsewhere. The merger will continue to suck up choices for us. Once they pick a lure you like it will only be available in 5 colors and nothing else. Fewer choices.
  13. Next best thing puts on a great show. Saw them once, and Rhonda Vincent is stellar too. Will call dibs on the CD's if you can't find anything to do with them.
  14. Getting all Bing Crosby on us! Have not seen any in years...and 4-5 trees need to go. Thanks for the idea.
  15. Did you find one yet? Or were you just navel gazing?
  16. Does it allow fly fishing with a rod under 10'. Would excel for accuracy and repeated casts to shallow bass.

    What's Cooking?

Pasta Carbonara is pretty easy. Fry bacon. Cook Rigatoni. Half n Half and Butter, garlic, S&P, maybe some red pepper or what you like. Bring half n half butter & spices to a hard boil. Add noodles and bacon and some parm to thicken. Add an egg or two, stir qickly, serve.

    What's Cooking?

Got one last swim in yesterday. Nice pool side dinner of some 99cent a pound chicken quarters grilled with S&P, Garam Masala, and some Greek Yogurt, Garlic, Cilantro, lime sauce to cut the spice. Apple Walnut salad with a Dijon Mustard Vinagrette to go with.
  20. Usually find big goggs on good smallie water. Places few fish or those with enough contaminants in the water to make the meat heads reluctant.

    Family Float

Looks like a fun family time! Good for you and the girls.
  22. The dark bands on the sides of a copperhead look kind of like a row of Hershey's kisses, Water snake markings are blocky in comparison.
  23. Fat one for the length. Good for you!
  24. Boiling Springs has a decent camp ground. Have stayed there a couple times...Usually use Andy for shuttles though, he is very flexible.
  25. The Gasconade has major issues with bad land management practices...Lots of cows, and eroding banks with no trees on them.
