  1. Fantastic smallmouth! Congrats to the angler!
  2. Forget the Ozarks...Dale Hollow is calling you.
  3. I'll be down there early next week...Its flowing at a good level...990cfs....It wont be easy to wade but the fishing is usually a heck of alot better when its up.Will probably start with a #6 (black & brown, or crayfish colored) Pat's Rubberlegs and a #12 Rubberleg Fox Squirrel nymph or a Prince...at least 2-3 BB shot. Add lead until you get bit, adjust it for every run. Good luck.
  4. You can get a file that marks there locations on Google Earth....and there are some other neat tools on the USGS site. Stream Guages http://rmgsc.cr.usgs.gov/ArcGIS/rest/services/nhss_usdata/MapServer Water Resources, flow history, etc. http://wdr.water.usgs.gov/adrgmap/index.html
  5. Think the Farm Bureau is upset because the Blue Way designation might result in restrictions on agricultural runoff.
  6. The J13 has a goofy lip....but the J11 and smaller models can be turned into a wake bait by heating the lip up with a heat gun and bend it down to 90..
  7. Jack's is open up at Prongs...fishing might not be that great...but Prongs to Rhymers, Bay, or Alley...should be on your life list.
  8. I hate for folks to lose access but Brian's right...There isnt much in the way of fishing or scenery in between Sunburst's lower take out and Dawt..Just a long ugly erroded mud bank on the North Fork Ranch side...then a big frog water hole above the Mill Dam. The ugliest stretch on the NFoW.
  9. Got mine...plan to try it on the NFoW, and Norfork next week. Thanks!
  10. Congrats on your new ride! Nice Bucketmouth too!
  11. Dont think the Gasconade around Jerome will be fishable by Wednesday. The Park Service has the a closure order on the Jack's Fork and Current below Pulltite in effect right now...but it will probably open up by Wednesday. The Huzzah, Courtois, & Big Piney would be some other options. Here's a link to the online version of the paddlers guide...Its been out of print for several years. http://www.lmvp.org/kayakswarm/PaddlersGuide/
  12. Dont know when your headed up...but the hex hatch will be happening soon...usually between Father's Day and Fourth of July...Big dry flies in the dark...lots of fun.
  13. Its back down to 4.0' at Akers...Its usually a milky green color at that level....The NPS will probably open it back up to floaters on Monday or Tuesday...I'd float it instead of wade fishing this week....just a heck of alot easier to get around...and the streamer fishing can be an all day thing when the water is up.
  14. That Journey is a fairy heavy boat..but not that heavy...dont worry about scratching the deck plate or the boat.....prop it on its nose, and get under it and use the carry thwart to balance it on your shoulders....takes a little practice because its more about balance than strength.
  15. The 1/8oz Standup Arkie head..used to be a staple...Bite Me Jigs...makes a better one...Great hook...better guard.
  16. Oz...that Mad River Journey of yours will probably work OK as a solo canoe...flip it around, trim it out...you will be fine until you can get a dedictated solo canoe. Its not gonna have sports car handling like a solo canoe, but you will have room for more rods & stuff. I routinely solo a 17' tandem canoe with tons of gear in it on winter trips...works great. My solo canoe will run rings around my big green barge...but the big green barge always gets it done at a slower pace.
  17. Abolish the IRS...LOL!...There are too many tax strategies implemented under the present system for that to happen. I feel sorry for the poor IRS field agents who are gonna get more grief because their bosses got caught on a fishing expedition for the Obama administration. The IRS is nothing to fear if your an honest person with documentation.
  18. Nothing new...its been in the tax code for 60 years or so...
  19. People matter more than fish.
  20. Good for you Al....This week stinks... I need to go fishing.
  21. It hasnt rained down there in awhile...I wouldnt worry about it.
  22. Sure is Mic...Westover Farms.
  23. MDC's Milldam access is the upstream access with the loop...The first one with the fire ring is on Forest Service land.. My buddy Norm calls it the "Goat Farm" access after the goat farm on the way down there. Its a popular party spot.
  24. There is a guage in Newburg...175 is a good level to float it...clear....250-300..probably fishable...or go hit Mill & Spring Creek if not...That creek usually flash floods then drops out quick. Have fun.
  25. I've caught trout near Hazelton and Slabtown. Might be hard for a fish to migrate up from Spring Creek because of the dam on near the East Gate of Fort Leonard wood, Stone Mill would be a possible. There might be a small wild population...most of the streams in that area were stocked with trout at one time or another.
