  1. 15 rounds rapid fire (in a safe direction) and some bible songs will clear folks out quick. Folks don’t like crazy.

    What's Cooking?

Peaches have been prime for the last couple weeks. Can rarely grab one before the kids eat them. A dozen won’t last 2 days.

    What's Cooking?

All gonna eat good! Did 4 spatchcocked chickens for random guests last weekend. Fat woman from MN (neighbors guest) said she never had better chicken.

    What's Cooking?

Had 6 trout fillets left from Rockbridge. Grilling 2 for dinner, smoking 4. No recipe for smoked fish, but add salt until the brine will float a fresh egg, add spice. Don’t let it brine more than 4-8 hrs.
  5. My squirrels are gonna get some too come fall. The little rats eat all of our tomatoes. Cost wise this was not to bad. $10 sheet of plastic cardboard & 3 rattle cans. The rest was laying around. Scrap pvc, dry cleaner hangers, rattle cans from other stuff. All fit in a plastic grocery bag.
  6. Got done with the Pidg/Doves today. Need to go shoot some trap. Have 100 rounds on hand.

    What's Cooking?

A share in some Iowa farm land is a nice thing to have. Kept it simple food wise today. Kids had two activities each. STL Pork Steaks and Grilled Corn.
  8. Outstanding trip! Glad you are back at it!
  9. Wow! What did that measure?
  10. Good for you both! Looks like a good time.
  11. Nice Fish & Nice Boat. There are several good fly shops, and 2-3 fly fishing clubs, a smallmouth club, and several lake fishing clubs in the St. Louis area. Stop by Hargrove's Fly Shop on a Wednesday evening and introduce yourself when you get to town (BYOB).
  12. Nice spot you have there. Looks like fun.

    Great Books

If you like the woods cop genre...Check out Joe Heywood's stuff. Fished with him a couple times years ago.
  14. I like the boat. You should have allot of fun with it.
  15. On to paint.
  16. Should end up with 22 decoys. Weight around 1llb.
  17. My little flock of prototypes is growing. Will have 20 or so when done. $15 in so far, but need to find some clips for the bird on wire pose.
  18. Brown & down seems to rule on the Huzzah. Walking baits in the shade lines at times. That creeks get allot of pressure, and the fish can see everything. Long casts are required.
  19. Awesome!
  20. Did the Park to 34 float last Friday. Recon, with a friend because our wives and 12yr old daughter's were planning a girls only kayak float on Saturday. It changed a bit, but pretty boring and fishing flat out sucked (5 bass combined). Go right at the rootwads a bit below the old rockpile in the middle...bought half way down. The girls had fun.
  21. Have several 5-9wt rods...This big heavy streamer on fly rod stuff is laughable...A spinning rod casts 1/16oz and up allot better. A casting rod excels at 1/2oz, but can go lighter to a 1/4 oz if need be. Big light streamers....on floating or short sink tips is a bearable program on a fly rod. Figure 0-6' deep range is effective with a fly rod. Deeper than that it gets inefficient.
  22. Fish get so much pressure on public water. There might be a 14lb public water LMB in MO, but thinking not. Every fish on public gets fished for, and it can be caught, gigged, bow fished, snagged, or netted by anyone with a desire too. Pressure limits the size potential, they are not smart. If they dont eat...They are not active...Find them when they are and you will catch them.
  23. Nice one for a county lake!
  24. First one. Needs work but should do.
  25. Better have some good style if you want to cast long for more than a 20 minutes.. I can hit longer, but do not like to blind fish with 60-80' casts. That gets old quickly.
