  1. Popper is a misnomer for a Sneaky Pete or similar. They will produce a good BLOOP, but I think they work BEST when sitting still. Let all that rubber and hackle do the work for you. A more slender topwater bug (like Ronnie just posted) probably needs to be worked, and probably fast.
  2. I use a loop for most flies over a size 10. Add diameter on the business end if the spins are a problem.
  3. Those are Greg originals. Good Eye.
  4. Finally got these done, and cleaned up a few. Hope the fish are still looking up. I haven’t heard a cicada in a week.
  5. A sloppy Mom’s Special is a great Sammy too. We used to live just up the road. 2 blocks across the road from Biggies.
  6. There a Gioas in Maryland Heights just up the street from my office. Vivola Deli is just across Page, and they kill it too. Lunch only weekdays for them.
  7. Viviano’s, Gioa’s, and Adrianna’s are pretty darn good. Dunno if Volpi can take the title for best Sammich on the Hill, but I’ll volunteer to Judge. I might gain 20lbs before the semi finals.
  8. I'd love to have that boat, but I've got to many already. I'm considering going to the dark side, and buying a jet.
  9. Jack Gartside was a hoot. Had the pleasure of shuttling him around town once.
  10. Btw, dead cicadas float on their side, not their bellies.
  11. It’s a Gaines Sneaky Pete in Chartruese, size 2. Gaines is out of business, so I’m working on a few.
  12. Think they have peaked, less than 50 in the pool skimmer this AM. Fish may be looking up after they are gone so we can hope for that.
  13. It is all random, but you can extend the eventual outcome, sometimes..
  14. There are always some minor logjams but the rentals cut them out quickly.
  15. Didnt get any cicada action, but hit wild trout creek. It got boring after a half hour. Rainbow trout cannot resist the peach glo ball in cloudy water.
  16. What? You are not dead yet? I was hoping for your demise, prove me wrong.
  17. That’s an odd observation coming from you. Did you troll that on Truth Social and get the boot or what?
  18. That's a wonderful video. You really captured the whole experience. Thanks!
  19. I was tying some "actual size" with foam bodies this weekend and the gap on a size 6 standard dry fly hook looked to small and flimsy for my preference. I settled on a Dai Riki 810 in size 4 (1x strong, standard shank, straight eye). An available equivalent would be a Gamakatsu B10S.
  20. Look for a tree on water's edge that is loaded with cicada's and cast one under it. Cicada's are clumsy fliers and make for easy pickings for the fish.
  21. We have a few, but we cant hear them yet..I-270 & I-44 area.
  22. Worksharp first, then the Japanese Water Stones.
  23. I’d put some new hooks and rings on the larger cranks & poppers and fish them like I’m trying to loose them.
  24. Capt Bill Faulkner or Capt John Stark can hook you up with tarpon or snook near Marco or Everglades City,
  25. You would have to do 200 trips a year @ $500 a trip to gross $100K. Maybe net $80K in cash pretax. Depreciation on the boat & truck will shelter some from tax, but there are easier ways to make $65K a year.
