  1. Chris that reminds me of my favorite laugh moment. Wife and I were driving down a road in Bama heading to visit the boy on base. We see a truck pulled over and two guys sitting in lawn chairs behind it. Thinking they were broke down I stopped to see if they needed a ride or use my cell. As I stopped I see two people in the truck fingers pointing at a high rate of speed and head bobbling. I walked up to the guys to see if they needed help and they both were drinking beer and said "NOPE We are ok just waiting for the wives to stop fighting so we could get on to church"! Apparently from the lawn chairs and beer this wasn't the first time their wives decided to fight lol.
  2. When I get crappie on my mind I don't listen well, the belly is speaking
  3. I seem to have ran out of crappie last night so had to go back today
  4. the bait they were spitting up was about 1 inch the lures I was using were 2.5 inch, if a guy got out early enough he could probably use crappie jigs to load up before the "pleasure" boaters showed up. Not hard finding the fish it was hard seeing bites with the boat traffic for me as they don't pop the line out of the riggers I had to watch for slight taps on the rod tips. Live Minnows would probably be very effective as well but be ready to weed through the shorts. These are open water fish relating to NO structure they are purely on the bait feeding.
  5. Some top-water but so much boat traffic they never stayed up. Midweek you might get them to stay up though with less traffic. What I did see was nice size fish busting, O cant wait for October and cooler water to get rod of some of the rudeness. I actually had one guy in a pooptoon watch me catch a crappie and he ran right over to ask what I caught it on so he could come back later to catch them, I was yelling at him he was running over my line and to move and he said I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT YOU WERE CATCHING THEM ON! Seriously he thinks I was going to tell him or be nice when he waked my boat and ran over my line and then acted shocked I was a little pissed off. Take your dam tube and loud music someplace else is what I was thinking.
  6. Ive been part of to many "HEY BUBBA ,WATCH THIS MOMENTS" But the weirdest was probably seeing a pole dance on a party boat, then again it was Copper Canyon.
  7. Quill, work the bait schools around 12 bridge zone. I put the camera on them and saw some nice bass 4+ lb size, and that was with sucky visibility only about 3ft or come to the dark side and catch the crappie in the zone.
  8. Fish are deeper than people are thinking, I ran the shores in a few spots and nothing didn't even mark fish till I was over 20fow and the bite was in 22 all the way to 35fow. I just keep being surprised by the volume of bait in the Lake. I was commenting to Doc within 5 years beaver will be kicking out many 10lb walleye. The crappie are doing awesome as well. The fish sure are not where you would expect, I honestly was shocked to see the amount of fish around the 12 bridge / beaver shores area this time of year that's not typically a summer area.
  9. There is nothing wrong with having to register a monkey but you don't dare require people to have a voter ID.
  10. Start out by going fishing remember tell your wives you have to go to make dinner, No Crappie No Dinner. Lay the crappie on aluminum foil and place sweet onions on them Then add Cheyenne pepper 1/2 teaspoon 1/4 teaspoon Paprika 1/2 teaspoon Mustard powder Add sliced apple and sprinkle brown sugar on them Finally top it off with some fresh green chilies and wrap the foil over it. Place in a preheated oven at 350 for 40 minutes at 40 minutes open the pouch for 5 minutes. Serve it up and watch your wife smile and you
  11. Lord it felt good to be back out on the lake. Started off at 12 bridge islands and picked apart some short walleye, crappie and some nice sunfish in 27 to 35 fow deep trolling the flicker shad. I called Doc to see how he was doing as I knew he had a couple youngsters with him today and decided to go meet up with him at Rocky Branch. Doc your a good man and seeing the one youngster hook up that gar was a highlight of my day Love seeing kids get on anything that pulls their line. I headed down to the Dam for some striper mission work, they are there but didn't bite. In all honesty I didn't try hard crappie was on my mind! So I headed up to Beaver shores and was not disappointed but was surprised. Guys I managed 18 whites all be they about 12 to 14'' size but I was shocked to find them still there this late in the year. Also managed to put 8 ( tears of angles ) AKA Crappie in the live well and 12 shorties. They came out of 25 to 35 fow over the flats on the #6 and 7 flicker shad. Boat traffic got unbearable by 2:30 so I packed up and headed for the barn. There is a TON of bait at beaver shores and the islands at 12 bridge. And lots of critters eating it! There will be a Mouth Watering Post later
  12. Marc, St Lucie County, Martin County and Indian River County make up the treasure coast. Plenty to do down there and you don't need a guide I think between Justin and Myself we could send you to some great spots and "freelancing" is so much more fun than a guide. Fort Pierce is home to record Gator Trout and Sebastian Inlet has some of the biggest redfish around the canals and intercostal is great for Tarpon and Snook but best places is the St Lucie spillway and Taylor creek spillway for tarpon IMO. Its a great place for a family vacation with West Palm so close and Orlando is about a 2.5 hour drive north.
  13. Marc, tI would rather catch 2 to 50lb tarpon over the triple digits every day of the week. They fight better and are more acrobatic. Cancun is nice but there is IMO no place on earth like Florida's Treasure Coast. There are tarpon year round in the mosquito impoundments that readily take a little yellow jig or a fly and its closer to home. There are also some canals that between July and August are more loaded with tarpon than Roaring River is with trout. You don't have to go to an exotic location to quench your addiction and quest. Looks like you had a blast and that little munchkin tarpon is about as much fun as a man is allowed on light gear
  14. Jerry, I honestly don't see many people keeping them at any size, they are "BASS" and people catch and release "BASS" and to be perfectly honest I wont keep one unless its gill hooked and no prayer. Beavers Bass just don't taste good to me. Now if people did catch and keep the K's I would be happy as can be there are a ton of little ones in the lake. I think I would have still preferred a slot but getting them out is needed.
  15. Dam Ronnie those are some great pictures
  16. More annoying than the old form.
  17. Megan the Christian Duck Hunters Festival is coming up in Siloam you might want to take some flyers over there.
  18. Unless a Bull wants what you just speared
  19. Speaking as a non-retired person the one thing I want when i retire is to be ale to fish and enjoy peace and quiet when I can. Tablerock would be my choice and OZ wouldnt even be in the lakes I would think about. I dislike putting up with drunks and loud behavior on when i all i want is to enjoy myself and no amount of frustration needs to be in retirement dealt with it all your working life why put up with it in retirement.
  20. Hmmmmmm, That looks like Tears of Angels to me
  21. I have kept one for each area I have fished, All types of weather Info, water info, bait line lure speed, presentation etc. If I compare the logs from 20 years ago today it shows the technology increase. With smart phones you can have realtime info on the weather and lake back then it was visual observations. It has dramatically improved predictability of fish and areas. Before it could take a few hours to locate the fish now by putting in the information I can be on fish almost instantly or within a very short time. I use excel with drop boxes designed to put in the factors for the day and boom I know where to look.
  22. Better you than me, I still have jerky, maybe went a little overboard with my jerky making last year.
  23. I'll be right over
  24. LMAO BF, I opened this thread thinking that's what the picture would be of, nice spoony though but the fridge would have been funnier.
  25. They will not survive the winter let alone the first redneck that see's them. Though I do wonder if these were "upper end boas" as they were male female if someone didn't actually steal them. A pair of breeding redtails if their genetics are good could be worth thousands of dollars each.
