  1. Cabelas should have the Units in if Not Basspro does. Best way to set it up is use the old Lawrance black n white settings screw all the colors the deffinition of BW is much better.
  2. Storm season is upon us and sooner or later we will all have a storm hit our homes or business and I wanted to share some of my knowledge with everyone as it comes to “Storm created damages”! By storm damages I am talking about Wind/Hail not Tornado damages. First I want to address the Hail damages. For the most part hail needs to be at least 1inch to do damage to shingles smaller hail will damage soft metal of homes such as Gutters, Downspouts, Metal roof vents and Ac fins. Unless you are in the Business and have been trained as to what to look for detecting Hail Damage to Shingles is difficult for the average Home Owner and there are many “contractors” who don’t know hail damage either. It really takes a professional roofing contractor to identify true hail or wind from a host of other damages to a roof. But as a Home Owner you can cut down on the number of claims you file by doing several things. If you are home when a storm rolls through and the hail is less than 1’’ it isn’t worth calling. Now if it is call a “LICENSED” Roofing Contractor. I don’t care if your state requires a license or not or if your buddy is a handyman or not Call the Professional. By that find one that is licensed and or is certified by shingle manufacturing companies. These are the people that can tell you the truth. I get on roofs all the time that a “contractor” told the client they had damage from hail and I get up there to find defects caused by a host of other issues, the other contractor had no clue the difference between hail and blister or organic decomposition even wind damage is difficult to tell for some of them from manufacturing or improper installation. Call your Agent as well to see who they suggest, many insurance companies have preferred contractor programs and trust those contractors. In fact several companies have started allowing for those contractors to do the “Damage assessment” and approve the repairs off their scope without the need for an adjuster to come out. After true hail/wind damage is detected a honest contractor will advise you that “In their Opinion” there is hail/wind damage to your house. You will then need to file a claim with your insurance. It is the job of your adjuster to make the determination to damages, if you and the contractor do not agree with the adjuster you can request a reinspection and if still not satisfied you can request an engineer to give his opinion. Do not be afraid to push the issue. Do not argue with the adjuster, they have guidelines they must follow and as a rule they want to pay for damages if they are legitimate. But in the event your contractor disagrees with them request the reinspection and the engineer if need be. If a storm hits we will see an influx of contractors from around the country “storm chasers” DO NOT HIRE THEM! These guys do the job and then are gone and you will be SOL if anything leaks. How to avoid them is simple! Check your state Licensing Board Talk to your insurance Agent Ask your Insurance adjuster Check the BBB Call the city to see when they were licensed Call the local supply houses and ask about them ( not home depot or lowes ) For our area Call ABC Supply or Arrowhead or CBM. I really preface calling those supply houses and one trick many chasers like to do is keep an add in the phone book and never return calls unless a storm hits as their office is really out of state, another trick is keeping a store front there to say they are local when in reality they only open it in a storm. All those can help you avoid major problems down the road; no warranty because they are gone is costly. As an example to replace a pipe boot someone else improperly installed is running about 350.00 and that is a easy fast fix, now imagine something far worse. In the event you do have damage and the adjuster tells you do he/she will right up a “scope of work” for you. This will tell you what it will cost to remove and replace / detach and reset items. It will tell you what they will be paying and what you owe (deductible). Most policies today are RCV (replacement cash value ) though some ACV ( Actual cash value) policies are still around ( check with your agent to see which you have. In my opinion if you have an ACV Policy change to an RCV Policy as it will cost you less in the long run your agent can explain them in more detail than I want to get in right now! A good Contractor can issue you a contract as soon as he knows the adjusters amount. Often there are “required” code upgrades! Adjusters do not as a rule put those on their scope of work. The contractor will need to submit those to the insurance with proper documentation to be paid for them. Most policies have “code upgrades” allowed in them, not all but most. You do not pay for those unless you have a policy that does not pay for code upgrades. All you should be out of pocket is your deductable and FYI (Saving your deductable) is a Felony don’t get caught up in that game, the only other normal thing you would be out of pocket for is (decking) damages not related to the storm. When you sign a contract the contractor normally will collect your deductible at that time ( and preferred contractor is required to ) as proof they did collect it, they get the check, scan it and send to the insurance company as verification of it being collected. Next they will get a “Material Draw” when the material is dropped off on location. The final payment should be collected when the job is complete, this could be done several ways either paid by the insurance to them or the recoverable depreciation check is mailed to you then you pay them etc etc and so on. This is just a fast brief, I will be happy to answer any questions I can if anyone has questions.
  3. Two words for this weekend ( MUD LINE ) Find it fish it and enjoy it. Myself Im torn between doing that and Run and Gun birds. This could be a great weekend.
  4. The Rumor line has it everything is moving shallow and starting to bite, apparently the influx of water and warming temps have sparked the fish to get going! Even had a Nasty text message of a top-water striper bite forming the text in question really should be more careful of background in it. Several were main lake but did have a conversation that Walleye are stacked around Point12 and Crappie had moved up to 8 to 12 fow from point 12 to Hickory Creek but no talk of whites yet.
  5. LOL, Seen Phil do it myself, I kept thinking Jackson is smarter than Phil.... I fish Taney without waders when I only have a few hours between jobs and it can be done on low water but im not standing in that water long. I would suggest a fast trip to Basspro and get a cheap pair of waders or hip boots.
  6. Knives of Alaska Fan here as well.
  7. Someone needs to tag these big fish
  8. I posted this on another forum in a conversation on the seccession talk but it fits this topic as well. People are tired of the goverment, entitlements, illegals stealing jobs etc etc. Our Politicians dont see Americans as being aggressive toward them and actually think they can do what they want because the people will not stand up. Look back through History and see what has happened every time a goverment did and thought that way. History ALWAYS repeats itself when people ( politicians dont learn from it )! Just look at recent events. Im going to put in quotes below each one exact words from our Declaration of Independence to show you how much has happened repeating the past. #1 President who beleives its legal to Kill people in this country that are citizens of it without due process #2 President and House who passed a tax requiring you to have health insurance or penalizing you for not having it #3 President and politician who are allowing for illegal immigration stealing our jobs and brining down our economy. #4 Finaly lets not forget his recent slap down for trying to tell the House and Senate when they can recess. The wording coulld easily be used to discuss our President and certain Members of the House and Senate! Our Founders even said
  9. I am more concerned about a Executive Branch that thinks drone strikes on US Citizens is legal and the constitution only applies where he wants it to at his WILL. THat is Monarchal statement. Gloom and doom is smoke and mirrors for a President who has now said flat out he will do it!
  10. GRRRR... Froze my butttocks off Sunday trying for them ( no im not showing my froze buttocks ) But I think know where you were if your oint the white pontoon or as my brother called it "the luxery fishing barge" Way to go guys next time im bringing live bait, no doubt you got into them I saw tons of marks but couldnt get them to go.
  11. Not sure about Stockton but I have bought my Pass at the Park Check station (when they are open )
  12. 70pnds dead even
  13. Saw it, but after what Happened with the last one from Bull im not holding my breath anymore. Impressive fish and hope he gets it though.
  14. 85 billion in cuts and then turn around and give 60 million to Syria. If we had one old fashion reporter left I bet they could add up a trillion in spending give aways our goverment has done in the last few months alone. This goverment body is pathetic.
  15. Bill they are in that area at times, right now they are scattered bad and deep. I avoid shad die-off areas as the fish that are there are normally full belly critters. Now if you hit it the day or two after it Cat time I hit the tail-waters today for 1 trout, marked alot of nice marks around Holiday Island but no takers water was cold, I would bet next weekend will be decent if not good. Stripers on Beaver will turn on when the water gets in the mid 50's and the Gizzards move onto the flats, I think I can introduce you to a couple of them
  16. Awesome day Bill, glad you had success.
  17. You just discribed Wal-mart
  18. Who won and what was the weight?
  19. I just wonder when the next Airline trip on taxpayer dollars is going to happen, or big state dinner orrr wait for it golf party or b-ball game... lets stop spending our money for vacations, trips home and parties, hell thats probably a couple billion right there
  20. Heck Quill, If they charged $10.00 entry fee to the ACE Parks and $100.00 for a yearly pass and ran it like a business ( money raised stays to that park ) I would bet they wouldnt need goverment funding on the parks. Heck charge a additional 100$ a year per boat house per slip. As far as other events Charge for them, You cant just go walk on a golf course for free or go to a Concert fo free. Our Goverment doesnt need to be paying for our recreation and we all know we will pay to play. Argue away now lol
  21. We all live on a budget, Goverment needs to do it as well! But this aint nothing and certainly will not stop the spending one bit, its just a smoke and mirror dog and pony show. Heck Ive seen flea shows I believe more than our goverment.
  22. Could be a Striper, there are a few roaming around HI up to Golden Gate. I've caught a few in the area ands they are on the JUMBO side.
  23. Q-tip or tissue paper work very well.
  24. When you are talking knots I have one i prefer to use above all else when dealing with Big Fish, Bimini twist (with a twist) Make your Bimini leaving the loop 3 feet long then run it through the eye of the hook and tie an Improved Clinch Knot.
  25. Ive seen them up close several times, pretty neet bird. Also seen 6 of them proudly checked in at a USFW Refuge Check Station, the two guys proudly walked right up to the warden with their "snow geese" I kid you not. He proudly checked them into the Iron Bar Hotel. BTW for ras big a bird as they are they are very light, I helped pick them up a few times on the Salton Sea after die-off and tthey are also a pain in the butt to get off your line when they grab your bait.
