  1. I had a chance to fish for a couple hours on Fathers day thanks to my wife and Mother in Law. I fished in a subdivision pond in South St Louis County. The pond has been neglected for a while and with all of the rain, it seemed to be doing ok. I started in the pond next to a bench that I believe is the primary spot to fish. I was using a Rick Clunn's square bill I believe in shad color. I caught what I dont believe to be a bass. I will need help identifying it. I also caught a decent small largemouth. I seen a bunch of turtles, I seem to attract them. I actually had one come up to where I was fishing at and fully extend his head underwater looking for food. This is my mystery fish. It did not put up a huge fight. It was mostly yellow in color, had a lot of dark spots, nothing like a spotted bass. It was also very thin. Sorry that I did not get a good pic, I was trying the holding my breath trick. Wanted to get it back in the water quickly. .
  2. Interesting. I really enjoy all of the food contributions made. I know this is a fishing forum, but these fill in the downtime.
  3. Great idea, my next 2 weeks are booked solid. Catch a bunch.
  4. Met Jim at the OA big bass tourney. He was very happy to explain what he was looking for, and how he planned on catching them. Hopefully his family is able to cope with their loss.
  5. Clay made this easy. since I did not understand thanks Clay for splaining.
  6. I tip my hat to them. I really don't know IF it will work, but if no one ever tries.... All to often we like to complain that nothing is ever being done, they have tried something, maybe it needs to be tweaked. I say keep trying.
  7. I believe they generally stock channel cats. I didn't stop, was in between office supply stores. Seen the truck pulling away from the pond, on to Loughborough. Some kids were fishing at the spot where the truck was leaving from.
  8. I saw the stocking truck this afternoon leaving Boathouse lake. Get em before they are gone.
  9. Thanks for the report, sorry about the turtle. Some people enjoy the turtles, I don't like catching them, but enjoy watching them.
  10. Excellent point Joe. So often some one will ask for advice and never return except to request additional advice.
  11. I agree with you Joe, but at the same time, he is asking if someone may have noticed if they really are the same,or if anyone's experience would save him headache. Some times we can share some pro's and con's to save time and hassle.
  12. I have. I would rather catch a lot of short fish over a couple keeps.I throw most everything back. I fish to catch.
  13. Wow, I read an article about him before. We need more people to think as he did.
  14. Ironically there is a "no soliciting " sign in a sales ad.
  15. Maybe a year from now. ...
  16. Wow, I actually agree with you, chief.
  17. Maybe a soft floor? From some of my reading, if you have a muddy floor (river bottom), it will malfunction. I believe you are fishing Meramec in the stl area, that maybe part of it.
  18. Let me be the first, "it's really just an A rig, which is really just an umbrella rig that was used for years then Arkansas decided to claim it as their own" ( I know it's really Alabama , just helps the fake argument. )
  19. Checked today, I have the MX-860 . Thanks for the offer though.
  20. So, THAT'S the one that got away.
  21. I have a pixma, but i don't think it uses those.
  22. Thanks for offering Marty. Mighty nice of you.
  23. Very sorry about the honest misinterpretation. I guess I missed that thread. Sorry also been thinking about this the last day or so,and I must apologize, I am out of my element. I don't typically get so involved and don't care to stir the pot on here. I had good results, and wanted to defend them.
  24. But is it new? I mean it's just a beetle spin, only larger, and it doesn't have a blade, so it's really just a grub with no tail, which is really just a worm that creme was making back in the 1800's, or..... well it still uses a hook. Those haven't changed since Columbus so maybe someone is trying to capitalize off of him, after all, I am sure that they fished for food while crossing the ocean. Yup I agree Dave is holding us all down. We should band together and only buy from Bass Pro, Gander Mountain, and Cabelas. Oh, and Walt, your name implies that you are crabby. ( I still like your rants though.)
  25. I am glad to see you get local food. My wife is in a group, and we get things that are not local. Convenience is nice, they come to her work and deliver, but I am sure oranges are not locally grown. We have "farmers markets" also, and I worked at one as a kid. In St Louis, most of them are not farmers. I know from personal experience. Washing the produce has always been a pet peeve of mine. Do it if it makes you feel better, but realize if you just rinse it under your faucet you are not doing anything really. The pesticides are water proof. The best thing I have ever found was a trick we used to make our displays look better is to buff it on your shirt. Apples, plums, grapes cucumbers etc all look much better after a quick buff on your shirt or a clean rag. The fruit tastes much better also.
