  1. ...well, if it floats your boat...
  2. Nice report, the Kitty looks a bit skinny. But then again, skinny one is better than none, and on the fly is even better. "
  3. I was about 10-12 years old. I went to Carondelet Park ( a city park with 2 ponds about 4 feet deep in the deepest part). The pond we wanted to fish has a dock, and it was the "cool" spot to fish from. We may or may not have learned how to use an "open face" reel. Anyhow, we went to our park and went to our spot only to find that the dock had a caution tape blocking us from entering it. There was a guy who was older than my buddy and I, but not what we would consider old, who was on the dock. We figured if he could be on the dock, so could we, after all it was OUR spot. We went around the tape, and started on to the end where we fished at, and the guy told us to get off. We asked why he could be on the dock, but we could not. He explained that he was organizing a tournament for flyfishing. There were some kind of rings that kind of looked like hoola hoops floating on the water. We asked what the rings were for, apparently they were used for scoring. We went to fish at a different part of the pond, and watched these people who we have NEVER seen in OUR park, use these funny looking fishing rods, and try to land there casts in these targets. I thought it was a neat thing, and it grew in my mind for years. I talked to many people about the idea and it just costed so much to start, I bought my first flyrod about 3 years ago, about 20 years later, maybe more. I am proud to say that I have caught 1 fish on it. I don't get much time to myself to practice, so when I get to go fishing, it is with my spinning gear with the kids. I do plan each year to use it more though. Sorry kind of a long story, but you asked. DC
  4. Good info, thanks for posting. DC
  5. I'm a pond guy. Make it 5.
  6. Where abouts? I don't get alot of time, but its up my alley.
  7. Nice Cats guys.
  8. I know you don't want online references, but, Just for the sake of others, I have used www.jackssmallengines.com and have been very satisfied with the results. I have no affiliation with them, but I am always leary of using a website I have no prior knowledge of. I tried them a few times and was very satisfied with them. DC
  9. I am an independent insurance agent for multiple companies. I am not looking to sell you by any means. I would strongly advise that you look into a specific "Boat Policy". Talk to your agent about it. There are many benefits to having a policy separately, too many to mention on here.
  10. Good stuff. LET'S GO BLUES!!
  11. ME TOO mine turned 3 this year. She has been to the creek for crawdads, and minnows, Maybe, just maybe we can get her to pull one in.
  12. I like these stories when they are told by the people affected. Good for you oneshot for posting.
  13. That explains it, never been on table rock.
  14. Thanks for posting. I have never been on the Kings river. Sounds like a nice place.
  15. They are pretty effective. I often get ads for insurance companies, along with the pick of the week for search canoes, kayaks, stoves, sleeping bags, etc. Somtimes if there is a hot topic that I am reading on here, it will have ads that compliment the discussion. It is interesting to say the least.
  16. I am always happy to let him have the hook. I just cut the line and let him move on.
  17. Congrats. Now just to wait until they become more active.
  18. Oops, the 28th of February is what I meant to type.
  19. ....But I have a 4x4 and I can do 90 mph on ice, its made for it. (Sarcasm). To those who have 4x4's please remember that 4 tires spinning (really only 2) will slide as well as 1. 4 wheel drive is only good to get you moving or at a constant slow pace, not on the highway. Yes, I think people in St Louis have short term memories or are from somewhere else. As the famous quote around here is "It wasn't this cold/hot last year" YES IT WAS!
  20. Go out and renew your fishing license now, they all expire on February 29 ( in MO anyway). For those that hunt small game, if you get them combined on one license there is a good discount. It took me a few years to realize the savings so I like to point it out to those like me. Have fun, be safe and catch/harvest something this year. DC
  21. Thanks Chief, Finally got around to watching it today. Very Good!! Answered alot of questions that I have wondered thoughout the years on different minnows, and larvae. Good stuff. Cant wait for the ones to follow.
  22. Gonna have to go fishing if'n you wanna eat. :-) , Might be kinda hard with all the broken bones, and trying to see through 2 swollen black eyes.
  23. I was offended that Chief uploaded a fishing picture with someone who CLEARLY loves baseball more than fishing...... What gives?
