  1. I know some trappers and they always put some orange ribbon above, or on both sides of the trap. I assumed it was a requirement, but if it isn't then it should be. Especially on public land. I could have kept the dog away from it if I had known it was there, he wasn't technically "free roaming".
  2. When you buy those filters there is a galvanized hex plug in the box......just for that reason. Mercury's water sensors are plastic junk, and will fall out if you don't use Teflon tape to install them. Rather than actually produce a sensor made of something better, with an O-ring seal........they just put out a service bulletin about it. 🙄 Pretty stupid from an engineers standpoint because a vapor separator that has run dry.....can FREAKIN' EXPLODE !
  3. As far as my safety is concerned I was referring to LEO's. Not necessarily game wardens. But I did have an MDC guy come around an island and fly by me in a jet Jon while I was wading, way too close for comfort. Like less than a rods length. Rather than stop and apologize, he stopped and made me pull my waders down to dig my wallet out. 🙄 Had my birddog get caught in some A-holes beaver/muskrat trap once, and not ever being into trapping I had a hell of a time trying to figure out that contraption while the dog was screaming his head off. Near a fairly heavily used access. Aren't they supposed to be marked/labeled with High-vis tape or something (like limb-lines & trotlines are)? Told an agent that just happened to be back at the access sitting in his truck.....but he didn't seem to be motivated at all to find out who was trapping that area. But of course he demanded to see my fishing permit while my dog was limping around in pain. I dunno man, I just never see or hear of one doing anything that actually benefits outdoorsmen. Even had one argue with me that buffalo were carp once. I wanted to snag one and slap him upside the face with it. 🙄
  4. 2 petrified nightcrawlers. A rusty church key, 3-4 crusty tarnished .22 shells, a spark plug, and one of those worm-burned red plastic hook disgorgers. What bait fishermans tackle box could possibly be void of all that ? Don't forget enough bobbers to float it all..... should it get kicked into the water.
  5. You forget the book of soggy matches, 14 pairs of old dull rusty fingernail clippers, 4 pairs of needle nose pliers, Catfish skinning pliers, 9 pounds of split shot, the old Schrade knife with leather sheath, and the banana shaped whetstone that used to belong to grandpa. Oh......and 20 yards of chain stringers, and a spool of trotline cord. 👍
  6. Well, it's supposed to be beneficial to society. Somewhere it went from that, to being a business. Public Safety isn't the concern anymore, it's all about keeping the courthouses full every single weekday, and keeping all the jail cells occupied. We're all less safe this year than we were the year before. Less safe from criminals.....and less safe from LEO's.
  7. Oh there's more than enough agents. What there isn't enough of are agents actually doing anything beneficial.
  8. Big ol' dobsonfly's are very common on the Niangua and little Niangua. Scorpion flies showed up around our house a couple years ago, I had never seen one of those before. They are kinda scary. There was a weird alien bug around last year, wish I had taken a pic. We tried looking it up one day but never figured out what it was. Big fat head/skinny body and rather creepy looking. No apparent stinger....but a wicked set of mandibles. There were brown ones, and brown/red ones. Again.....never had seen one before. Also there was something that left a bazillion magic marker sized holes in our yard last June, I figured Cicadas at first.....but I never saw any to speak of. No idea what that was. Insects are an ongoing mystery. Probably always will be.
  9. I wish that I felt that I could trust the medical community like some of y'all do. One of the things that worries me is the breakdown of their pay rates. I had parents, and parents of friends, growing up, that were in the medical and pharmacological profession. And I know the REAL reason that doctors and hospitals charge the ridiculous rates that they do. And I also know why certain meds and procedures are recommended.......and it isn't always because that's the best choice for you..... it's because that's the ALLOWABLE choice, with the fewest odds of malpractice liability. (you can't be effectively sued if you follow certain guidelines). In other words...... Business as usual in America. In my recent studies on the recommendation of Erivedge (which is what they are recommending for me) it became evident that if a dermatologist prescribes enough Erivedge......they get a paid vacation for 3 to the Caribbean. Yep! 👏 So there's the incentive that has nothing whatsoever to do with my (or anyone's) future health. 🙄
  10. When your a predatory fish in a river, anything that moves is considered FOOD until it is proved otherwise. If there's a pretzel between me and a steak..... I'm likely to eat both. 🙂
  11. I caught a barely legal Blue on a Clouser last fall. He really looked tasty so he went home with me. That'll probably be the last one.....cuz it was far from a culinary delight. 😝
  12. As far as MDC agents checking everyone's permit without reasonable suspicion.........Well, should you be pulled over and have your driver's license and insurance papers checked everytime a cop passed you on the road ? (A checkpoint between your house and the grocery store). Have you ever encountered a MDC agent while hunting/fishing that didn't immediately order you to produce your pedigree? It's a witch hunt, don't ya think? Cuz I do. Lots of people do, and they ain't all bad apples. If you don't have any reason to think that I might be doing something wrong......then Smile, Wave, and GO ON ABOUT YOUR BUSINESS! 👋 And BTW.....What IS your business? Because checking permits is all I've ever seen them do. 🤔 Call them about a REAL ISSUE, like 200 dead gigged trout on a section of river......and they ain't got time to investigate THAT.
  13. I might be able to help you understand that attitude..... It only takes one experience with a POS LEO to sour you for life, and POS LEO's have become more and more common in the last 15-20 years. That may begin to change in the near future however, beings as how video surveillance and social media have become a constant thing in almost everyone's lives. There are YT channels devoted to it.....so if you think law abiding people are just being pricks for not LOVING & TRUSTING law enforcement officers, just do a little video searching. It will immediately become evident that VERY FEW LEO's settled into their career position because of their love for mankind, and a desire to be helpful to society. It definitely goes WAY beyond Memphis. And does so daily.
  14. Well hell, why not Rolla? It happened 6-8 times in the Lake Ozark/Osage Beach area last year. Such a "family friendly" place to visit and vacation. 🙄 There's a tighter location pattern to it though......Always within puking distance of a popular drinking/partying establishment.
  15. How did that work out for him? I once saw a Mexican dude, that allegedly couldn't understand English, just wade off downstream after an agent called out to him and waved him over to the bank. The agent just stood there for a bit, then went to go check someone else. I guess chasing him down wasn't an option.
  16. That does seem fair. 👍 I don't mind paying for resident fishing/hunting permits near as bad as I hate paying sales tax on used cars/trucks/boats. That's a rip-off of the highest order.
  17. It seems that every summer I notice some bizarre insect that I've never seen before. Aliens for all I know.
  18. Should heal up just fine. 👍
  19. Listen, it's getting to where I prefer to put some space between her and I too. She's got it figured out proper. She fishes just enough to avoid picking up any bad habits.....So everytime she goes she gets increasingly better, with zero backsliding. There's something to be learned there ! 🤔 If she fished MORE then she'd learn how to screw up better.
  20. I'd almost risk it.....just to increase the odds of actually being able to witness an MDC agent get out of his truck. 🙄
  21. Found one! Me! 👍 I had kinda planned to go catch a mess of crappie today on the flyrod. But it was such a nice day that I talked myself out of it, and chose to just hang around the house & shop and be lazy. No boat needed launching, no fish needed to be cleaned. It was a perfectly chill day for me. Does it bother me that I pussed out and didn't even bother to try ? Nope 😉 So, see? Being an even WORSE crappie fisherman, like me.... would have served you better today. 😁👍
  22. What do hormone shots do, that is beneficial ?
  23. Appreciate that,bro 👍 Thx
  24. Your not supposed to allow the Curaderm to dry out, so yeah. It has to be changed out every 10-12 hours. I'll probably give it a break (for a day or so) after 10 days. We'll see.
  25. How about a sign? "Insert $20.00 bill here for life advise, or political humor". 😁
