Coastguard or state laws
fishinwrench replied to Maverickpro201's topic in General Angling Discussion
I remember 2nd grade. Not a day went by that somebody didn't smell like they had $#!t their pants. And occasionally it was Me 😂 I blame those Del Monte raisin boxes that Mom always put in my lunch. -
Coastguard or state laws
fishinwrench replied to Maverickpro201's topic in General Angling Discussion
Interesting factoid that most likely don't know..... The kill switch law that was put into effect recently has already been beaten by case law. They won't make that public knowledge (and for good reason) but you will NOT be given a citation for failure to comply, and if you are then you can beat it without a lawyer. BUT STILL......WEAR THE BLASTED THING!!!! 😁 -
Coastguard or state laws
fishinwrench replied to Maverickpro201's topic in General Angling Discussion
Class A vessels less than 16' (which includes all 16' jon boats, since they are technically 15'11" or less) are only required to have a throwable device, or "USCG Approved cushion" for each passenger. That is State Law, which is all that matters, unless you are running the Mississippi. If on the big Miss. then you need a wearable pfd onboard..... just in case. You are not required by law to WEAR anything unless you are still in diapers. -
SIGNS - about no Bait Fishing below the dam
fishinwrench replied to Brian K. Shaffer's topic in Upper Lake Taneycomo
Signs don't do anything without enforcement. If they did then you'd never see a highway patrolman. -
That is a quote that needs to be on billboards in every county across the country. My parents and grandparents were democrats that I think always voted straight ticket. But it meant something WAY DIFFERENT at that time. The "2 choices/Choose a team" thing just doesn't fit. I don't think it fits for anybody...... but that is all that the career politicians will allow in this ultimately free America.

Boat Wiring and Common Ground.
fishinwrench replied to jdmidwest's topic in Tips & Tricks, Boat Help and Product Review
As I understand it, the corrosion is a result of dissimilar metals sharing electrons via WATER.....which is a semi-conductor. It can happen even if no battery(s) are onboard. In my time, dealing with boats everyday for going on 40 years, the only serious corrosion damage I've witnessed has been on boats/motors that are left in the water for extended periods of time, and left tied to metal frame docks with electrical circuits that are improperly grounded. -
If you look individually through the topic headers I believe you'll find that there are very VERY few "off topic" posts. Looking specifically through the TABLE ROCK, or BULL SHOALS, or TANEYCOMO section (for example). There are scads of TOPICS to choose from here. And I think before anyone throws a fit about the content of any post.....they should look to see which AREA of the forum it is posted under. Things aren't Click-Baity here. If a topic header doesn't interest you THEN DON'T CLICK ON IT ! Opening up every "NEW POST" across the entire forum, and then having a meltdown because nobody is intelligently debating "Walleye migration" today.....is so.....Karen. I you wanna talk Walleye Migration then start a conversation about it. Seldom ever does a post not get multiple relevant replies within a few hours.

"Snagged in Outlet 3" - Has anyone heard from Pete?
fishinwrench replied to FishnDave's topic in General Angling Discussion
I did too, we got into a big fight and he threw his phone across a parking lot. He'll get over it, and get a new phone shortly. 😅 and will probably send ME the bill. -
Boat Wiring and Common Ground.

Over engineering at it finest. 🙄 For a 12v system in an aluminum boat a single Group 27-DP is all you need. No electrolysis issues or galvanic corrosion can occur since the TM is typically out of the water any time the outboard key switch is ON. The rare occasion when you might idle across a cove with the TM down isn't going to amount to anything ever noticable. To avoid distortion feedback on any dash or bow mounted sonar unit just route the 2 TM power cables ALONE along the port side of the boat, and route everything else (engine harness, sonar power and transducer cable, lights, bilge/livewell pumps, steering cable, ect.) along the starboard side. Avoid running any wires along the floor or under the flooring.....Keep them all up along the gunnels. This works fine even on narrow 36-42" wide aluminum boats. -
I have. Here he was back in early June. Saw him 2 mornings ago before daylight. Tried to get a pic but it was too dark. His rack is maybe a little taller and 2 more points than he had last year, but the mass/thickness of his antlers are incredible. Still in velvet but you can tell they are very very thick. Body size is just average, which makes that coat hanger even more impressive. I know exactly where he's bedding down now. He's safe with me, I wouldn't kill him for anything. If I need meat I'll bust one of these many doe's. Would love to find his sheds.

The easily offended just have no perspective of the life they are living. They don't seem to value what's before them at the present time. All of our lives will end in pain and sadness beyond compare. Regardless of how you lived your life. During those final moments you might look back and realize how utterly slap-happy you should have been during those insanely stupid butthurt moments of your life.
-
Well........You just did ! In front of God and everyone, you discussed what I should know. I'll let you know here in a bit whether or not I'm offended.

The least he could do is provide a pic of said "boulder".

What To Do With Extra Flies
fishinwrench replied to mic's topic in Fly Tying Discussions & Entymology
I either give my extras and culls to someone who is just getting started flyfishing, or I take a razor blade and scrap them for hooks & beads. -
So....... What's y'all's problem with Mitch? Did he pull some unforgivable caper, or did he say something awhile back that several of you still haven't gotten over yet?
-
I've already got all the work and bills. We had a big fancy "wedding" but ol'Wrench signed his last marriage license way before THIS relationship. I refused to sign into another contract with the state over who I chose to live with. Made that mistake twice before. I think it's best that if either party wants to leave....then they can just GO. 👍. No need to feed lawyers and clog up the courtrooms over it.

If Sims Marine went queenless I'd get to spend all the money on fishing/hunting stuff, and pipe in the hookers ! 🤟
-
You wanna get rid of the dove hunting thread ? Awwe......Why? 😢

No need to take it back. I get called an A-hole occasionally, and I still love the ones that say it. 😉 Genuine non-apologetic A-holes are rare these days, and this country needs a lot more of them.

Swivel eze power pole?
fishinwrench replied to Dutch's topic in Equipment - Rods/Reels/Line/and all the other toys
Disassemble the valve, I guess. But if you let the juice out it will be flopping around. -
Swivel eze power pole?
fishinwrench replied to Dutch's topic in Equipment - Rods/Reels/Line/and all the other toys
Trap some wire under the hose clamp(s) and lash above the valve mount. Limiting its upward travel. Or maybe call Swivel-eze and test their customer service. They've been in business a long time......Long enough to have a quality product figured out. If Americans are going to continue to pay premium prices for outsourced products then we gotta start demanding products that work like they are supposed to for more than a week or two. And none of those power poles are ever worth a crap. It's always the first thing to go stupid in every new boat. -
Swivel eze power pole?
fishinwrench replied to Dutch's topic in Equipment - Rods/Reels/Line/and all the other toys
The valves in those are junk. The valves in ALL OF THEM are junk. Get it where you like it, and put a pair of stainless hose clamps around the center shaft to keep it from creeping down. That's all I got 🙄 -
I'd say that your boss is a good man. He knows you have a passion for it, and that it gives you PURPOSE. He obviously likes you, and it would pain him to take that away from you. That's the sign of a genuinely passionate individual. Do something really nice for him. 👍 And if given the chance, pay it forward.
