  1. Yeah, it's a sad fact that outboard motors just don't last very long in saltwater. And that's why they don't design their fuel & electrical systems any better. 90% of their sales are coastal...and always have been. Johnson/Evinrude was the only company that designed freshwater specific outboards that would stand the test of time.
  2. As long as you can trade for new ones every couple years they're all fine..... including the Mercs.
  3. Spell check says that's correct 🤷‍♂️ Doesn't look right to me either. 😅 My wife's vacuum is louder than any outboard around 🙄
  4. You mark the gap area, on the insulator, then swap them around until they all seat properly. It's either a total PIA or it works out perfectly the first time. 😅 Typically there is always ONE that gives you fits, and you might have to buy 8-10 spark plugs in order to get 6 installed properly.....and they ain't cheap. And that's why you always suspect THAT whenever only one or two cylinders are underperforming on a FICHT or a G2. Class Dismissed 🎓
  5. Shoulda said "Your mama and daddy did this to me !"
  6. Does she wear them while vacuuming the floor too ?
  7. Highly unlikely. The spark plugs need to be INDEXED on that model (meaning that the gap on all spark plugs must be facing their respective injectors). A fresh set of plugs, INDEXED PROPERLY, would likely cure any lean #1 issue. If I had a potential buyer I would take it off your hands.......But at this particular time I don't. 🤷‍♂️
  8. Nice mess of channel cats ! 👍
  9. I have sampled it cooked on a grill. I would gladly trade it for a Billethead goose fajita.
  10. They cause more problems than they solve. Whether they are drum or disc design.
  11. Kinda sloppy, but should be more durable and sink faster than a muddler head spun with deer hair.
  12. I'm thinking that when the bass in this lake gets tired of biting suspending jerkbaits, they just might eat a streamer like that.
  13. I forgot about those👍 That's the reason why I even got this stuff. Sadly I never could make 2 that looked alike. I obviously need lessons. 😊
  14. Anybody else experimented with it ?
  15. Sorry, I didn't want to deter anyone from going, as I have quite a few customers that will be vendors there. I'll just say..... It's not my cup of tea 😊
  16. Back in my younger & stupider days I built a screaming hot Evinrude 235 and sold it to a dude that wanted it installed on a 17' Ranger. After installing it I took the rig and 4 different props out for some runs to PROP IT OUT and to set the jackplate. Once I felt that I had it set up, as good as I could get it, I cracked her wide open and just let her wind up real good.....Holy Mother Of God ! 😬 When I set that boat back down it bow-hooked, I over compensated, and ejected myself over the port side into 48° water. When I climbed back into the boat I hooked the kill switch back up and tried to restart it.....Nope. Dead. The battery had come loose and ripped the terminal off the cable. I half-assed that back together, started the motor, and idled SLOWLY back to the trailer..... which luckily I had left in the water, because nobody else was at the ramp that day. Didn't realize how cold I was until halfway back home. Got undressed in the shower under warm water. Busted a rib (bruised from my belly button to my left nipple), and lost my glasses, but bygod I was ALIVE ! Never again!
  17. My hat leaves my head at 42mph My soul leaves my body at 68mph So anything I do in a boat at 69+ is an Out of Body experience.
  18. Noisy outboards are music to my ears. Noisy people are like nails on a chalkboard.
  19. Oh, I thought the reason everyone wanted QUIET outboards was so they could whisper to their passengers while underway. Even out in the open, running on muffs and standing right next to it, I've never had an outboard make my ears ring. It cracks me up that people want to take a quiet boat ride to a lakefront restaurant where they have to scream over the music and noise to have a conversation with the waitress and whoever they are sitting next to. 😅
  20. "We're not CAMPING, we are Meditating! So what's the problem?" 🤷‍♂️
  21. Noise was never a "PROBLEM". 🙄 The 4-strokes happened to be quieter....so that was used as a sales pitch. Nobody bitches about how noisy their chainsaws, leaf blowers, and weed eaters are 🤔
  22. I had to go steal pellets out of the water softener to throw on my driveway, before somebody (Me) ends up upside down in the ditch. I've never seen ice so bad here. I dropped my keys and they slid 30 feet. Retrieving them was similar to an Ironman competition. I hate this crap !
  23. Gimme a break, I was so much younger then.
