  1. I told ya, it was at a seminar and the MDC dudes were there giving a talk about it. That's exactly what they said. T Back in the '50's they crossed American paddlefish with Chinese paddlefish in order to shorten the age in which they could reproduce, and those genetically altered paddlefish are what we have now. True unaltered American paddlefish are only known to be in a few waters elsewhere. One place is up north and I don't remember where the others are....or were....This was back around 1999-2000
  2. Is there a story? Sounds rather ugly. πŸ€”
  3. Am I going to be obligated to follow it thereafter ?πŸ€”
  4. A mission statement doesn't typically obligate anyone to anything.....or maybe it does, I dunno. I have no mission statement. 😁
  5. So the ACOE are the ones building dams, but the MDC is the ones automatically "OBLIGATED" to protect any species harmed or effected, hu? The ACOE were the ones supposedly held responsible for the massive Walleye back-pumping incident at Truman back in the late 70's early '80's. How did MDC escape their obligations then, I wonder. πŸ€”
  6. They wouldn't be "seeing that often" if they weren't messing around with them. That's a man made fish. Nothing natural about it.
  7. If we are going to pretend to be concerned about contaminants in fish flesh (Mercury, ect.) then long lived species like paddlefish should be the LAST THING you'd wanna put in your mouth. Species such as White Bass are likely the safest......for now......but biologists can't resist their incessant tinkering. Somebody needs to kick them square in the nutts !
  8. Once again biologists couldn't resist tinkering around. The true American paddlefish didn't become sexually mature for 10+ years. Biologists in the 1940's-50's wanted to speed up that process so they tinkered with blending the gene pool of the Chinese paddlefish and created a species that can reproduce sooner in life......and this is what we have today. True "American paddlefish" are nearly extinct, and so are the true Chinese paddlefish. Biologists claim this as a victory because they "saved a species"......but did they ? Call it "native" if it makes you feel good.....who cares.
  9. My position is the same for both, so it should be easy to follow. πŸ‘
  10. For the price they want for the boards, it should include the labor of replacing them.
  11. I was at seminar once when a dude from MDC spouted off a figure of what the MDC spends on Spoonbill.....and it set me off like a bottle rocket. Why????!!!! Spoonbill snaggers bring very little to the table, and half of what they produce ends up feeding coons along the bank. They do nothing to curb the shad population......which is what they tout as being their most beneficial purpose. Personally, I could do without the invasive bastards, and I'd love to see that money spent on Smallmouth or something else native. But whatever πŸ™„ The MDC operates like my daughter's at a clothing store.
  12. It's either a hybrid striper, or a hybrid/white bass mutt. More than one line going all the way to the tail is something I'm not used to seeing. And that one appears to have 3. Tongue patch and whether or not it did the spastic vibrating thing that mutts do, would have told you.
  13. I love corned beef and cabbage. πŸ˜‹ Happy birthday Mrs. B.
  14. What's that old Irish joke about Patio (something) ???? and Pat McGroin πŸ€” ? Can't even find it on Google.
  15. There are 2 types on here. One type pokes at me constantly, insists on having the last word, and keeps me fueled...... ....and another type that says, "God, I can't stand that guy, he's always going on & on about something". For those I say WALK A MILE....! Can't win. πŸ™„
  16. No thanksπŸ™„ This would be the stupidest looking house in Gravi if it was lacking the deck. You, of all people, should realize the pride of having a BIG DECK !
  17. I had a couple...... tornado ate them. Sadly that was before we all carried smart phones with us everywhere we go. There were several over 100# weighed that weekend at the Oar house. They seemed to run bigger on average back in the 80's-90's. The thing that always bugged me about snagging is that after the season there are literal dump truck loads of dead short fish all along the bank. Coon food. Why not just let people keep them ?
  18. I only went snagging twice, and I'm not even interested in it anymore, but I got a 101 on my first trip out. Only had the rod in my hands for 10-15 minutes. No fight at all.....it was just like dragging in a big piece of driftwood. πŸ™„
  19. I'm no carpenter, so clue me as to what kinda project requires a "Top choice prime stud" ? I need to replace about thirteen 2x6x12's on my deck. Last year's prices scared me off.....but they are gonna have to be done this Summer. Are lumber prices still rediculous ?
  20. I may have told this story here before, but when I was in my late teens a pair of dudes pulled into the bait shop in Mexico, Mo. with a 4-5 footer that they caught in the Mississippi near Louisiana, Mo. That thing rode in the back of a pickup truck for over 2 hours, dry as a popcorn fart, had probably rode in the floor of their Jon boat for an hour before that....and after almost ANOTHER hour of standing around taking pictures and showing it off.....That sturgeon was thrown into the C&O Railroad lake in Mexico, and swam off like nothing was wrong with it. So apparently you can't kill the crazy things ! It's probably still in there !!!
  21. Flippin' crybaby! Learn how to cast ! πŸ˜‰
  22. Hmm, I never fished one that didn't. Central PA had no rule about where the amateur had to stand. And the BASS Federation use to allow the co-angler control of the boat for 1/2 the day if they wanted it (although most didn't).
  23. It didn't "blow up". The housing busted. Gears and shafts are probably fine.....but who would ever wanna trust them?
  24. There's an old 1500gal. Metal fuel tank out there, buried in the mud, that washed in from Ship's Marine during the flood of '99 Pretty sure he found it. πŸ‘ Smack a red Rattle Trap across it here in a week or two and you might find one of these. 😁 Here ya go. You're welcome πŸ™‚
