  1. If you wanna post a pic of the stripped hull, and kinda describe what you want the layout to be I can whip up a sketch of how I would do it......if that will help. Sometimes you can frame with an aluminum step ladder. That works extremely well if you lack room for vertical supports. A ladder frame will support a ton of weight.
  2. I try to use 2" angle so that I can use backing washers. You can't get inside the tubing to put washers on. You can back-to-back 2 sections of angle if you need more rigidity.
  3. The degree of bend in your cables relates to the tension, so anytime you install a TM and mount your pedal you should reset the tensioner. The boys at the factory have no idea how your install is going to be.....so let's not slam them TOO hard. 😊
  4. Jon boats NEED to flex a bit. Anything welded is likely to crack and break. 3/16 Rivets are the way to go. Rivet placement requires a bit of thought, but properly placed rivets (with backing washers if possible) do a way better job.
  5. Exactly. Beginning about 2012 marine manufacturers started making things with certain cute little components that really can't be substituted (or at least not easily). We have 60k-70k boats out there with designer touch screen switch panels. One switch goes out and the entire panel has to be replaced. If you think that 10-12 years later that you'll be able to buy that goofyassed bean or teardrop shaped switch panel..... you're delusional. One good smack with a 3/8 jig, and there goes that $2000.00 digital command center tachometer combo. It's totally freakin' ignorant. 🙄 I can't wait to see the kinda afro-engineered crap that guy's come up with to keep all of this "limited edition" $#!t working 10-15 years down the road after getting replacement parts have become a joke.
  6. Tornadoes are no fun. Insure your home and belongings heavily.

    What's Cooking?

@fshndoug says these are to die for.
  8. There's alot to be said for THAT. Those hinge bushings on the MK mounts are a PIA ! They do give you plenty of warning before they go out completely though, so if one goes out and ruins your day.....it is definitely YOUR fault.
  9. What kind of magical armature construction do you suppose accounts for that? Ya reckon they've paid off the government for better satellite pairing? Cynical? I don't believe so. Skeptical? Oh yeah, always. 🤷‍♂️
  10. Well that's a first. I've never been called a Prick so eloquently in my life 😊
  11. I have absolutely ZERO experience with the Garmin trolling motor. As far as I'm concerned, at least for another 3-4 years until we see how things go, there are only 2 brands of trolling motors. And you already know which two they are. Gamble at your own risk. 😊
  12. I'm away from my wiring diagram right now, but I think the cranking circuit is the yellow/blk stripe wire. It's routing goes from the key switch, through the neutral safety switch (at the shift/throttle control box), then straight to the starter solenoid. Somewhere between the key switch and the solenoid that sumbitch is touching ground. Now, the only question is....WHERE?
  13. Just turning the key to the ON position does not blow the fuse, right? It only blows when you try to crank the motor? If so, then it is just a short to ground somewhere in the cranking circuit. Somewhere between the key switch and the starter solenoid. Don't let anyone sell you a new ECM !!!!
  14. Nah, I'm assisting the queen of Gumbo this evening.
  15. It only blows the fuse when you try to start the motor, correct? And it blows BEFORE the engine cranks over?
  16. Depends on who you ask. The guy who owns the boat will claim 72-78 mph. 58-67 is more likely.
  17. I have a feeling that once you're about 6 fish up on him, he'll quit running his mouth and get serious. 😂
  18. That's a good point. And you are exactly right. More Docks and PWC's get run over than kayaks around here. But perfectly visible No Wake bouys get clobbered frequently too......and those could just as easily be bright pink & white kayaks with flags on them.
  19. It will blow your hat off if you let it. Come on down and we'll go slime it up. 😊
  20. I thought the idea of a "good union job" was to keep from being worked like a pack mule?
  21. Skinny? Ha! 🤣 I was built with broad shoulders for a reason. Somebody must have known that I was gonna have to be heel stomped several times in my life.
  22. Well, you weren't very nice to it, but those old 2 cylinder Johnson/Evinrudes don't die very easily. Like I said earlier, I've seen them bake the paint off the top end, melt all the wiring....and still survive. How the crankshaft seals survive is a mystery to me, but somehow they do.
  23. Good man! I'm proud of ya. Wish I could say the same. I need my @$$ kicked up between my shoulder blades.
  24. I just think some safety equipment wouldn'tdn't hurt anyone. How religious are you about that Kill Switch Lanyard ? 🤔
  25. @DADAKOTA here's the pic from the rear angle. This site is weird. Yesterday it wouldn't take it.....Today it does. 🙄
