  1. You would ALSO ground the unit to the cranking battery. You are not depending on the cranking battery to supply the ground connection for the FFS circuit. You are merely connecting the negative (-) side of the FFS circuitry to the engine..... which is in contact with the water at all times. They could have easily included a ground into the transducer harness, to serve the same function, but they didn't.....or haven't YET. (probably in an attempt to eliminate/lessen RF noise distortion from the trolling motor)
  2. It is best NOT TO. Keeping those two circuits as isolated from each other as humanly possible will result in a better overall system. Almost impossible on an aluminum boat.....but not entirely impossible..... A rubber inner tube gasket between the trolling motor and the boat hull, and using MOTORGUIDE mounting hardware can accomplish the task.
  3. It is merely a jumper wire which creates continuity from the ground of your FFS unit to the negative terminal of your engine cranking battery. And NOT the trolling motor ground. Isolating those two ground circuits helps to eliminate feedback noise (distortion) when operating the trolling motor.
  4. I have attempted to use it on tricky mechanical issues. I've found it to be obviously commercialized. But that might improve with time.
  5. My default tippet size for everything warm-water flyfishing related is 8# fluorocarbon. I only drop down to 6# or 4# for Crappie & Bluegill. And upside to 12# for bass around heavy cover.
  6. That's all that those illegal drug-smuggling crackheads are doing......Just actively choosing to coexist. 😅
  7. You really can't, unless you could lay the motor on its side and allow it time to ooze out. I have a vacuum pump with a hose, but was only able to retrieve about 1/2 cup of it. Plenty remained. It's thick and doesn't suck out well at all, even when warm (it actually never gets warm there). I have a theory that it is a buildup of condensation. Doesn't matter I guess, since those motors aren't likely to live past 8-12 years anyway. 😅
  8. When you change your oil, check for this BELOW the drain plug. So far, every single one that I have Serviced/Winterized has had it..... Not Good.
  9. That's OnlyFans, not Facebook 😅 Where the REAL cougars hang out. Don't start shooting THOSE or there won't be anyone left to teach in the elementary schools.
  10. I agree. Just kill it.....and keep quiet about it ! My wife can't even do her nails, bake a pie, or pot a houseplant, without parading it on Facebook. 🙄 It wouldn't surprise me if everyone following her doesn't know how many pairs of panties she has.
  11. Tom tied his not splayed apart....but scissored like a shad tail. (for what it's worth)..
  12. Say whatever makes you feel good,.... BUT the odds that you won't just see a mountain lion "just passing by & minding its own business" at less than 50 yards, is WAY more rare than an actual ATTACK by one. At least that's MY understanding. If you SEE one within easy shooting range, then there's a really good chance that it saw/heard/smelled YOU first.....and is there because it is CLOSING IN ON your @$$. If any court tries to fine them.....THAT would be a good argument. 👍
  13. Old Man Tom Able used to fish a fly just like that. His had 2 hackle tails on it. He used to put on a clinic below Norfork dam. 👍
  14. I have a cousin that recently married one. Been a bonafide U.S. citizen for less than a year. She's smokin' hot, and her English is getting better. She's never eaten chicken.
  15. Yep, we've named that motor....Rudolph ! 💰 She pulls Santa's sleigh .
  16. When the stuff doesn't even kill weeds you know it's gotta be bad for a fuel injection system. On that particular engine it took out the high pressure pump, the lift pump, 2 injectors @ 400.00 apiece, and enough labor to pay for Christmas 😉
  17. It's ETHANOL FREE ! 👍 😅
  18. Doesn't take a master-tech to diagnose that one. Does it ?
  19. I installed a laser sight on that bad boy 👍 And I grind up my own ammo. I can smoke a cicada from 4 feet away ! 😀
  20. Speaking of Mercury EFI's with poor hole-shot issues......
  21. This guy here should be allowed to live and breed too I suppose.
  22. Once you fully understand the Mercury oil injection system on the carbureted & EFI motors, I feel that it becomes obvious that unless you typically run 20+ miles at a time @ 3/4 throttle to WOT, or idle for at least 2 miles, every time that you turn the key.....the designed metering of oil is totally redundant.....and improper. The vapor separator (or carburetor bowls) are always going to be full of whatever metering of oil was demanded 15 minutes ago. Regardless of what RPM you are running NOW. So why not just run a 60:1 or 50:1 pre-mix.....and eliminate any possibility of potential oil metering issues? FYI: 50:1 has been the industry standard for 2 cycle motors forever, only because those numbers roll off the tongue easier. 🙄 65:1 is honestly the best oil ratio as far as lubrication, lower carbon buildup, lower engine temperature, better performance throughout the entire RPM range, AND LESS EXHAUST SMOKE is concerned. 😉 It's easy to measure and remember too.... just remember 2 ounces per gallon. 👍 (1.9 if you really wanna do the math)
  23. For your style of fishing they should be just fine. 👍
  24. I guess I should have said.....A known predator of anything with flesh on it. 😅
