Nope. Shouldn't hurt a thing. I run a single deep cycle battery in my Jon boats with 12v trolling motors. One battery does it all.

We were headed to Jeff City one day, and came across a buggy accident. The horse I guess decided he needed a drink and wandered off the road, down into a ravine. They couldn't unhook the buggy and were trying to get the horse to back up 8-10 feet so they could get him unhitched and turned around. After 20 minutes of trying to unsuccessfully persuade the horse to back up, the old boy ran out of patience, he grabbed a 3' long piece of driftwood, grabbed the horses ear and gave it a hard twist, and then started beating it across the bridge of its nose. Turns out that's reverse for equestrians. 😂

Automatic chargers can be misleading. Run the tilt and trim through a complete cycle then test battery voltage again. You'll probably see voltage back down to 12.5-12.6 right away. You can either leave the auto charger hooked up for awhile and let it periodically bump it, or you can put a manual charger on it and let it boil for an hour or two. I haven't touched my bass boat since our little memorial day derby and my cranking battery reads 12.8v and that's entirely from stator output several weeks ago. I never have to charge my cranking battery unless I run my livewell pump for several hours and don't burn more than 3 gal. of fuel.

I've installed/upgraded alot of these systems. My favorite thing to do is wait 7-12 months and then ask the customer...."So, have you gotten familiar with your new sonar system yet?" Yeah, I love it ! The display and target separation is just awesome. "Cool. So are you catching more fish now then you were before?" Uh, well uh, hmmm.....No not really. 🤔 😅

Forever, unless they are abused. The #1 cause of voltage regulator and/or stator failure is trying to get one more trip out of a tired old battery, or momentarily hooking up a battery backwards. I've changed out a thousand of them, but have never smoked one on one of my own rigs.

The next step down from 12.0 volts is 11.9 Put a starter or tilt/trim load on it and you'll have 10v or less. Have I been completely unsuccessful in teaching y'all about boat electrical circuits and the results of low voltage? 🙄 If the motor was idling when the pic showing 12.4 was taken then he has a stator/voltage regulator issue. That can (and will) either burn up the entire ignition system....or it can start a fire without ever tripping a breaker or blowing a fuse.

The use of the word "staged" indicates that you're studying fishing via magazines and videos. What does it mean to you when a fish is "staged"? Holding in a strategic location while waiting for conditions elsewhere to change? Like a waiting room? Fish don't really do that, just so ya know. Not picking on you, I just like pointing out that the way studying anglers are being taught about fish movements is rediculous, and actually holds you back. Lengthening your "learning curve". 😅

I have to agree. My grandpa was a police chief, and he was kinda famous in our little town for never carrying a gun. He said it just caused things to escalate when they didn't need to. Of course that was back in the day when if you were drunk and causing trouble they'd just take you home and tell your wife/mom to KEEP YOU THERE. And they did. Or they'd put you in the "drunk tank" and you could just get up and leave as soon as you sobered up. Things kinda worked better before they decided to start trying to give everyone a criminal record and empty their bank accounts.
