  1. No problem man, glad you got to have some family time. Much more important. Stay safe and stay in touch.
  2. Awesome! How deep were the bites ?
  3. Yeah that's what I based it off of, just sturdier. That one looks like it would be a little flimsy or might twist sideways under pressure though. Maybe not.
  4. I fashioned a C-clamp transducer bracket for my river Jon that allowed me to remove it from the transom real quick & easy. There are more places where I use that boat that will not allow a transducer back there than there were places where I wanted/needed one so I ended up selling the LCR unit, bracket and all. But if something like that would work for you just use your imagination.
  5. Nice! Now you've started it...
  6. I'm gonna reserve my "thanks" until the dishes are done.
  7. Oh yikes. Was afraid of that! I stopped the vid while they still had their waders on.
  8. Pretty cool. Love those 7mm whites!
  9. Do not register the trolling motor. They will take your money, charge you sales tax, and issue a title in your name.... BUT it is not required anymore. Just a FYI to save you a few bucks here.
  10. I have, operated, fished from, and rode in a Towee and I really like them. They are built to last and handle lake duty (boat wakes and chop) well, plus will run as shallow as a Jon boat. Nice and stable when standing up to fish, ect. The rowing frame is pretty sweet and you can remove it easily when you don't need/want it. Personally my rowing skills are horrible so I'd opt to pole or paddle....or use a trolling motor if I had one of my own. Trigg will prolly respond shortly and can answer any specific questions on Towee boats. I've never been in a Gheenoe but quite a few salty flats guys seem to like them a lot.
  11. It ain't the hooks, its just physics.
  12. I knew it. Snakehead !
  13. That Red Eye is a killer. On days when I can't put together a shallow dock pattern I just start running down the bank (almost any bank) burning a Red Eye and it never fails to produce some fish. Often they are good ones too. It has something going for it that a Rattle Trap never had. When I first realized the effectiveness of them I ran out and bought 2 handfuls of them expecting that I'd loose or bust them pretty regularly, but that hasn't been the case. They come thru stuff like magic if you just keep them moving, and even when they do hang up a few shakes or line pops almost always gets them free again. The only downside is that you gotta keep the fish from getting air and head shaking, I've lost a bunch of 2-3lbers in the air. Short fish I just let jump and 1/2 the time they'll release themselves. If your partner is throwing square bills and you aren't throwing a RE then you are making a mistake.
  14. I think it's a snakehead. Might be a grinnel. Or a Dogfish shark. Better alert the authorities.
  15. Is that a baby walleye or a snakehead ?
  16. Supplying all the campgrounds with pre-tied firewood bundles could be a pretty decent gig. Maybe even as good as the ice business.
  17. Sometimes I can't post a pic here until I edit it. Usually I just crop it a tiny bit then it will load with no problem.
  18. I would think that a dam removed would cause the river to completely fill in with silt and gravel from the old bare lake bed. I guess eventually it would flush out and grass and trees would start to grow but those stretches, or the ones below them wouldn't be anything special to spend time on for quite a while.
  19. The ROLF cabins are cool (in a romantic kinda way) but if your main goal is to fish and spend your waking hours streamside I'd recommend Sunburst for sure.
  20. Does the guy even fish anymore ? I took his 2-day casting class...let's see... 33 years ago (Wow that's scary). I forget what it cost but I remember feeling that it wasn't worth it afterwards. Bob Gaston (who actually fishes btw) helped my casting more in 10 minutes out in his parking lot for free PLUS he fed me and taught me some great fly tying tricks and fishing techniques that I still use today.
  21. While reading that....something occurred to me. If the gun is kept "in your truck" or "in your boat" then shouldn't you be "legal and abiding" ? Maybe technically you'd want a gun in both, just so you wouldn't be "removing/brandishing" it when your body was in between. I don't think carrying one wherever you go 24/7 should be outlawed.. .but I do think doing so is terribly OCD. I agree with 5bites that the COE ruling is stupid. One thing that bugs me about guys that are all about CCW is that you never have to wonder who they are because THEY WILL TELL YOU EVERY CHANCE THEY GET. Guys (and gals) that conceal-carry all the time just love to announce it or point it out. What does that say about the mentality of it all ? Seems like a good way to get blndsided and knocked in the head to me. Do they touch on that any during CCW training ? Ya know.... "Conceal with your mouth also" kinda thing ?
  22. Not surprising to me at all. You notice how much they get for a little bundle of firewood around there ? You could buy a piece of land, do some clearing, and cover your mortgage by selling the firewood. I'm sure they have the equipment to produce a mountain of those little bundles in no time.
  23. Probably just so they can show on paper that bids were taken and considered. Same reason they show "on paper" that they release umpteen thousand fish into the river each year. When the measure of your productivity is reported as "tossed in the river" then you can still show "on paper" that you are one extremely productive sumbitch! Who can dispute it ? Any losses, shortages, or screwups can be (and likely are) easily balanced out on reports by fudging a digit or two. If they stocked and managed the river fishery like they "show and report" they do, it would be freaking awesome. But I pretty much know better, I think we all do.
  24. Jeff, I think the main beef is that.... For someone who is not "with" the state, he sure has made a killing by using state resources. And it's like they have become so used to accommodating him that they almost depend on his input before every move or decision. I'm not 100% sure that is an entirely accurate assumption but to my knowledge they have never made a single change that effected his business in anything less than a totally positive way. Entering into the canoe rental/shuttle business was probably the biggest slap in the face, as they always maintained a zero tolerance alcohol thing in park boundaries, busses, and rentals... EXCEPT for the floaters, only because they knew it would cost them rentals if they only rented to and shuttled "family fun" oriented teetotalers. Kind of a twisted double standard, no ? I'd bet ya 100 bucks if Rodgers had a few guide associates that he wanted the park waters opened up to they'd allow it exclusively. It is viewed (to many at least) as an unfair monopoly thing he has going on with the state park trout program that has expanded from just the trout thing to include ANYTHING that generates money. And if it cuts the throat of other area businesses...too bad so sad. OK fellas, what have I missed ?
