  1. Pitching is flat out impossible while sitting down, unless what you call "pitching" is something other than what I call pitching.
  2. As a representative or senator, which would be more likely to sway you; A large number of correspondence opposing a bill with only the words "please don't do it" ? Or... Long winded articles written by self proclaimed intellectuals describing reasons why they shouldn't ? And....Do you really think anyone with the capacity to decide anything reads such correspondence either way?
  3. Exactly. Trophy, they're coming and going fast. 1636, 1648, or 1448 ? I'm getting 5 new Lowe hulls in June (maybe late May). Mixed sizes/styles (but can't get Roughnecks). I can make it 6 and take you out bass buggin' when you come to pick it up I haven't anchored a deal on trailers yet though, still working on that. Got a decent trailer connection down there?
  4. You're welcome.
  5. What's wrong with a jon boat ? Most versatile craft ever devised IMO. Just choose the size that best suits your intended water, customize it a bit, fish out of it forever and a day.....then sell it for the same price (or more) than you paid for it. Can't lose.
  6. To each their own indeed. I definatly fish better on foot than on butt.
  7. Pretty good sized crack on the main lake from the mouth of the Glaze up towards the Lodge. Almost wide enough for a bass boat.
  8. That is some kind of ninja self-control thing you've got going on there. I'm impressed. I get so anal sometimes that it causes my breath to stink.
  9. Just FYI: The current image on Google Maps is from a low water period. You can see the shoreline makeup down to 654.6
  10. That sounds like torture. LOL Google earth and a topo map. Save your gas
  11. I wanna say yeah, but it's really hard to say since we haven't had ice like this in over 2 decades. Not sure how long it will take to melt. I used to hit small lakes and strip pits immediately after ice-out and almost always had an exceptional day of it. I think there's some science concerning mass oxygen release when a lake locked up with ice finally thaws. Had an insanely good day fishing the edge of an ice shelf within sight of Alhonna quite a few years back, I'll never forget that. Crazy! If you can find an ice shelf over a hump or dropoff you might locate a school of big fish, but finding ANOTHER one will likely be impossible. I guess my point is that anything you learn immediately after the thaw probably won't be of much use to you a week or two later.
  12. That thing looks kinda "limp". I dunno, it might fish Seriously though, there really is something about spun "angel hair" or "Lite-bite". No chenilles or dubbing brushes that I have seen so far cause the fly to turn out right. Maybe "right" isn't the proper term.... "The Same". And I'm just crazy picky that way You can't tell me that if a Pat's looses a single rubber leg that you won't swap that bad boy out before you make another cast.
  13. i Hmm. Well I get those same kinda "Alerts" all the time. It's always something potentially drastic and requiring immediate snuffing. I always ignore them....and never hear another word one way or the other about anything ever changing. It will defy a long standing pattern if this one doesn't go the same direction.all the others have. Politics
  14. Cool, that sounds great! Talk to ya soon. Glen 573-569-5406
  15. Is this the same deal that this thread is about?
  16. Of all the cool stuff I got to do as a kid there's just something about fishing that stuck to the point that I'll never be able to quit. How does that one activity become such a major part of who a person is for the rest of their life? Maybe it's because I never got into any trouble FISHING. I got in trouble playing the various ball games, got in trouble riding bikes, especially motorcycles....Lots of trouble there. But no matter how hard I tried I couldn't find trouble fishing. And try I did too! Stole my dads truck and boat once , 2 years before I even had a drivers license, towed it to a lake 30 miles from home and fished all day....but misjudged the time it was gonna take to get back home and put things back where they were supposed to be before they got back from wherever they were at. Mom was frikken LIVID! Dad was silently proud. I think that's what did it. All that was when I was a young, testy, but apparently impressionable child though. Once I grew up I learned how to get in plenty of trouble fishing. But by then it was too late. What's done is done.
  17. Nice! The X-Caddis is a hero fly, I love that thing. It ain't half bad "nymphed" either.
  18. Dude, WTF are you going off on me for? I was defending you AND your whole program to someone who's position I kinda understand. That's all. Then I just tried to inject a little humor into this stupidity just to help smooth things out. Just for clarity my handle here (and everywhere) is "fishinwrench", not MFU. MFU is above you, but fishinwrench isn't. Although I'm a bit behind with what I do for a living NOW I will be caught up in a month or so. So how about April you and I can have a friendly conte$t to $ee if either one of us is worth a $hit at catching ba$$ on LO. Wanna?
  19. Just for fun? That looks like less fun than throwing lawn darts, to me. No mending? C'mon now, flyfishing has got to be easier than mastering that gawd-aweful contraption. I predict that brainstorm will result in a divorce and loss of a house, at the very least. I actually feel sorry for the dude that poured his heart & soul into it.
  20. I have been over my head in neoprenes and the flotation properties work AGAINST you. You can't get your darn feet on the stream bed once you get to where you can touch.
  21. Of course it's a business venture, but not just for Bob's sake I assume. THAT'S how he's getting guys to share more than they would otherwise. The membership fee probably serves to keep out the rif-raf as well. Yo Bob, Whaddaya do when you get somebody posting over there that's being cranky and causing a stir? Boot'em off and refund their fees? Pro-rated of course.
  22. Oh boy, here we go.... First off I think it's pretty thin-skinned and short sighted to assume that nobody would ever say anything derogatory about a fishing report website designed to generate MONEY. So acting surprised and offended is a tad lame IMO. I'm pretty sure it's not the first time someone said it, and I'm 100% sure that it's not the first time someone THOUGHT it. Secondly, when did being a "hustler" become a bad thing? You wanna catch fish better than 80% of the other guys....you gotta hustle. You wanna create a money generating website....you gotta hustle. You wanna get ahead in life in whatever avenue you've chosen...... Better hustle. Old Plug is a good dude, know him personally and have no doubts that his intentions were directed towards the best interest of the person he was responding to. In short...if you gotta ask about the validity of a site like BB then the odds are that you really can't afford to just gamble with 40 bucks. And the odds ALSO are that all the info gathered there (or anywhere else for that matter) is not gonna win you a check this season. Do you wanna take money from guys that might be short on rent but just really REALLY want a little edge in their fishing? Because that's the kinda guy OP probably thought he was responding to. The targeted audience IS competitive fishermen, correct? So to deny that it's a "hustle" is in itself a Hustle. Can a BB subscriber benefit from a hustle? Dunno. Subscribe and then ask the members if any of them have the BB community to thank for stretching the seams on their last bag of fish.....Or do they take the majority of credit for it themselves? How'bout it Smalliebigs, did the info you gained by being a paying member of BB put you closer to being on a good bite than you were capable of without it?
  23. You can read a newspaper through what's left after I electric knife'em. The buzzards won't even land cuz it ain't worth it to them, and my pet fox and possum are like...."c'mon wrench, give us a break, all we ever get is eyeballs".
  24. Ya reckon a half-assed outboard tech could make a living down there?
  25. Full Moon. Y'all hit it right. That's outstanding!
