Shutting down threads here is un American
fishinwrench replied to Smalliebigs's topic in General Angling Discussion
Just to be 100% clear.....I have no problem at all with immigrants. Most I've interacted with in my lifetime are good people.....But lately it seems there is a new breed (so to speak) of immigrants, and they are not pleasant at all......yet we would be punished SEVERELY if we stood our ground against them. I just don't get it. They are like spiders in our living room. And everyone in the house is so afraid of them that the entire household is under their authority. Some of these "spiders" have lots of money too......and are buying up HUGE parcels of our land. I don't know about you, but I don't care for the smell of that. -

What's he pissed ABOUT ? I'm beyond pissed, I'm genuinely concerned about where these people we were discussing are coming from, why they are here, and why we are being forced to just accept them. It ain't cool ! -

Hey, you didn't care about my boat ramps, so why should I care about who you wish everyone in the country would vote for ? Just for the record I believe that both Missouri and Kansas voted overwhelmingly opposite of you in the last thingy they had. And probably will again. I didn't participate in any of them. How's it feel to have your particular views among a huge minority in your neighborhood ? It's lonely being so smart, hu ? -

As long as he ain't spearing smallies, or blocking boat ramps 👍 None of that other stuff you mentioned had any negative effect on me, my family, or my friends, that I'm aware of. 🤷♂️ -

Alrighty then, but you DID help pay for them. Thanks for that. 👍 Any suggestions on how someone who does use them might have dealt with that ? -

Aside from THAT......What does it take to load your boat at a public access, where your truck & trailer is parked, and go home, when it's 98°, you're hot & tired & hungry, low on gas, the "law" fails to respond, and a group of foreign individuals are excersizing freedom by turning the boat ramp into their own private little concrete beach, and failing to understand anyone that spoke to them, and refusing to move out of the way? Luckily I was just hanging out, letting my dog swim, witnessing the situation, and could just leave and go home..... which is what I did. Had I been among the group floating out there waiting to use the ramp.... Hillbilly justice would have been initiated, and I'd likely be in jail. How would YOU have dealt with that PEACEFULLY ? Any suggestions? -

No no. How I feel about it.....and what I might say in front of friends, should be obvious to you guys😅 But there's a serious element here, and WE (all of us) need to get smart about how to best deal with it. Because if you haven't already personally had a run-in with this type of thing..... you're likely going to before much longer. It's potentially tense and pretty unsettling. (As in....you could end up dead or in jail FOR REAL!) -

Terrierman likely felt like it was headed in a bad and unproductive direction.....and let's be honest.....he has a good reason for expecting that. 😉 Do us all a favor and ensure that it doesn't cross that line. Think before you sound off! Because this is becoming a thing that we all need to be careful how we deal with, and be smart about dealing with it.... when we have to. -
So what is the proper, and acceptable, way to interact with these people? There were a few, myself included, that were tempted to get physical with that bunch on the boat ramp.....but we all knew darn well that we'd end up in jail, or badly hurt, if we did. A couple of the dudes in the group were built like Olympians.....and I'm not too sure I have it in me anymore. It's been a while since I seriously scrapped with anyone, and let's face it.....I'm getting too old to be fighting FAIRLY. Honestly 🤔

The only explanation I can fathom is that they are told that this is the "land of FREEDOM".......So they assume that they can come here and just do whatever they please. Because that's the definition of "freedom", in ANY language, right? Maybe it's time to re-write that song. 🤷♂️

There was a group (7-9) non-english speaking individuals using the 4-lane boat ramp at the MDC access as a swimming beach.....and they absolutely WOULD NOT MOVE ! They actually got pissed and indignant because guys were encouraging them to move so that they could launch/load their boats. Somebody called MDC but we were there for over an hour and nobody ever showed up. I don't understand their mindset 🤷♂️ If you are visiting a foreign country, and a native politely tells you that you are doing something wrong......Do you GET MAD and just ignore them? Hell NO !!!!!

Will do. As for now the customer is temporarily in shock.....and is pondering the estimate to replace the powerhead. I'll holler if he chooses to unload it 👍 -
Back in the 1970's my dad shot a wood duck out of season, and got busted. It cost him 500.00......which was a lot of money back then. That was my brother and I's. LESSON about following game laws, when growing up. 😳 I would love to know how much those clowns get fined.

It's been 2 decades since I've spent time on Huzzah cr......and either the fishing has improved drastically, or there are a few things I'd like to learn from the Hondurans!

Pretty much 👍 The biggest thing I dislike about jet outboards is that you need to be moving at a pretty good clip in order to have precise steering control. With a prop outboard you can ease right upstream, and point the nose of the boat exactly where you want......And as long as you're not haulinass the worst your likely to do is scuff up the prop a bit. If it gets too shallow to motor through.....just hit the kill button & step right out..... it'll only be ankle deep. 🤷♂️

I've got a 115 Merc, stick-steer jet rig that I'm working on right now..... She's blown, and just might be for sale. Interested? -

I can run Barclay up to Bennett on the Niangua with a 20hp prop outboard on a 16' Jon boat, at all but the lowest flows. There's 5 spots where I have to hop out and pull over some short extremely shallow spots.... mostly because of overhanging trees....but it's definitely not a deal breaker. Prosperine up to Ho-Humm, and Leadmine up to Blue Spring is easily doable also. 15-18" is all you actually need.

Yep, me too.
