  1. This is rediculous. Sugarbritches waa running around covering everything last night, used up every sheet in the house, and now she's bringing them all in, DRYING THEM, and is going to cover them again once they are dry. I guess if it wasn't for her I'd just let everything tough it out. If I can't save the Dogwoods then I don't care about anything else. 🙄
  2. With the lake at it's current level it is highly unlikely that you can get a boat above the lake unless you get out and do alot of dragging.
  3. Anyplace above the elevation of 660.0 is no longer Lake of the Ozarks. Google Earth will tell you. I know where that spot is on Gravois creek, Big Buffalo, and on the Little Niangua, but never looked it up anywhere else.
  4. Where do the ingredients required to produce DDT come from? Right here on Earth right? So when were we ever without it ?
  5. Since you can make Goose and Thunderchicken taste good, will you be the one to whip up my dinner of stir-fry Crow ? 🙏 Almost 2 inches here....and still coming down. 😞
  6. The boys in the big Buffalo area had quite a day of it. Unless they are fibbing (quite possible) 🤔
  7. Of course 🙄
  8. Does Ketchup, or Ranch go better with Crow ? 😒 This SUCKS!! 😡 Say goodbye to the Dogwoods. 😞
  9. They are easy to kill after they've hatched. And an oil slick over the water keeps them.from hatching in the first place. The "chemicals" we need to control mosquitoes already exist. But environmental scientists say that if we use them in a certain way then we should be fined or imprisoned.
  10. I've had a half dozen or so 3cyl. Opti's come in with an unstable idle issue fresh out of warranty. I've yet to cure one of it, and neither has anyone else to my knowledge. It's obviously an emissions control issue that the ECM can't sort out. I'm a mechanic, not a computer wizard. 🙄 I can control the info being fed to the "brain" .... but I can't control what the "brain" decides to do with it. I hate to sound conspiratorial, but I almost suspect that the "brain" is programmed to start running like $#!t after a certain time-clock has expired, even though everything mechanical is 100% fine.
  11. 😅. Yeah you'll never see anyone rope start an Optimax. That's for sure. Motor, Compressor, Alternator.....FORGET IT !
  12. Watched a video awhile back, the dude was flipping flooded bushes on a reservoir that was 24ft. higher than normal pool, and talking about matching the crawfish that he said the bass were up there "rooting around in the bushes for". I couldn't help but to make a post and remind the guy that whatever crawdads he was talking about were NOT going to be found up around those bushes.....they were going to be at least 24' deep.
  13. Yeah I like that dude. 👍
  14. It ain't gonna snow! I've been hearing people say that crap all day long. It might get a little chilly....but it is not going to freakin' SNOW !!! 😅
  15. If I ever eat thunder chicken again it will either be because YOU prepared it, or because I'm homeless, penniless, and can't find anything else to eat.
  16. Definitely added to my dislike of tailwaters. Tailwater rivers, and lakes like Bull Shoals and Truman where the water levels fluctuate drastically all over the place......I just have a big time hangup with that. It isn't natural. I can't like it.
  17. Just for the record, if the motor is tuned up decent, and it has already been started and run within 5-8 hours......a V6 really isn't as hard to rope start as you might think.
  18. This stuff may have found Its useful place here.
  19. Good job, bud! 👍 We have been seeing and hearing alot of turkeys around here for the last week or so. They are really on the move. Even saw one dead on the highway yesterday, which is rare. I love hunting turkeys but can't justify killing one because "I don't know how to cook them right".
  20. Really? 🤔 I've noticed just the opposite.....with them usually showing 1.5 volts LESS than true battery voltage.
  21. Many years ago, back before anybody carried cell phones, a buddy and I crossed the river at Rim and then the water came up. We contemplated hiking all the way to 101 hwy. and hitch hiking back.... but luckily a dude and his wife wheeled into the boat ramp just upstream from there, and we hollered, begged, and screamed until he said "OK"...and he went and got a guy to come launch a boat and ferry our ignorant asses back across the river. 😅
  22. I'd love to follow along and see what kind of little fishes can be caught. Little baby catfish, and baby gar,....are like...(how do I say this without sounding like my wife...) They are just the cutest little things I've ever seen 🤗💕
  23. If there's anything you want to know.....for as long as I'm around.....Fire Away ! Answering questions keeps me sharp. And if I don't know and I think I should.....I usually can find out. 😊
  24. Typically a starter spinning but not kicking up the drive gear is caused by 1 of 3 things.... Low voltage to the starter (caused by loose/dirty connections, dead battery, or failing solenoid). OR.... Bad brushes and corroded armature contacts in the starter (requires a starter rebuild to rectify) OR.... Cruddy/Dry shaft and drive gear (bendix). (Clean with parts cleaner spray, blow dry, and then lube liberally with Silicone spray or a few drops of 2-stroke oil (never put grease on it).
  25. Starter bolts all snug? And ground lead clean and tight? Is Voltage good 12.4+ on the starter side of the solenoid ? A failing solenoid will only allow partial voltage to pass through, and they can also STICK keeping the starter energized even after the key switch is turned off. Typically the bendix will not fall back down until the engine starts and the flywheel forces it back down. So that's normal. There is a cushion (hub) inside the starter drive gear (bendix) that prevents damage.....should it actually stick in the "engaged" position.
