  1. Agree. Just enough to keep it from slipping too soon. No worries about it digging into itself, cuz it's hard as hell.
  2. I use a figure 8 knot on teeny tiny stuff, and a no-slip loop on everything else. I've gotten to where I can do a loop knot on stuff down to 16's on the stream, and down to 18's-20's if I'm rigging at camp or while sitting on the tailgate. Flys on a loop knot are 100% the way to go, I always get more/better bites when using one. Ya gotta make that loop small though. No bigger than 3x the size of the hook eye if you can pull it off.

    Cast iron

I always thought the greatest thing about a cast iron pan was that it cooks evenly, lasts forever, and you could bang it around any way you wanted to. But everyone that considers themselves a CI connoisseur is always saying "OMG don't do THAT, you'll ruin it". 🙄 I get enough of that with the Fu-Fu cookware my wife has. If you even get close to her AllClad skillet with a metal fork she will go full Kung Fu on you 🤕
  4. My tastes are not very Regal. I prefer coffee black, I throw some sugar in it, and if it tastes ok to me at the time, I drink it.
  5. Mysterious ways. What's so hard to understand about that?
  6. I've ripped more gills out using Suspending jerkbaits than anything else I think. Second place goes to a Pop-R, don't think I own one that the hair tail isn't stained from blood.
  7. Tried out the air fryer contraption last night. That POS will get sold in the next yard sale for 50 cents. 🙄 While expressing our disappointment in that last night I also pointed out that our coffee expenses have gone up threefold since adopting a Keurig....so that bastard needs to go also.
  8. Ahh Y2K reminiscing 😊 I was divorced from wife#1, raising a 5 year old daughter as a single dad. I lost my father that year and had just begun dating what would turn out to be wife #2, a gal 9 years younger, recently discommunicated Jehovah's Witness who had 2 kids (the biggest mistake of my life). I've learned alot about CHOICES and DECISIONS in the last 20 years and have become way more of a "thinker" who intently weighs and considers every possible outcome before making a choice now. Hoping the best for everyone in 2020....... Let's do it! 😊👍
  9. Steve James/ Magnum Dock serv. is one of my customers and a straight honest guy that does good work. 573-372-9972 There are others closer to you that are capable of doing good work, but an ongoing problem with dock guys on the upper Osage is having them leave projects unfinished and taking months to return and finish them up. So my word of advice (whoever you choose) is to NOT agree to give them any money up front.
  10. A buddy of mine filleted a 10# buffalo awhile back, and it made my fish cleaning table look like someone had butchered a hog on it. We were going to try frying some but the meat was so dark and nasty looking that we lost our appetite. It got fed to the neighborhood possum.
  11. Nice brooder ! 👍
  12. There is no earthly way to know that releasing a certain amount of water will lower the lake level a certain amount. It's only a rough guess. Along with raising water levels comes soil saturation. And there's no way for anyone to know or calculate how much saturation has taken place lake-wide. If you drop a lake 1ft. then the water from the saturated soil is going to go where? You guessed it. 😊 And that's going to raise lake level how much? No possible way to know. It's all just guessing. This isn't a leak proof bucket of water they are dealing with.
  13. I'll take your word for it. 😏
  14. Nobody I know ever catches small carp, and I never see juvenile carp cruising the bank, or the flats. I'm pretty sure they are born about 20" long. Kinda like skunks being born dead on the roadways.

    Diet

Sitting around, or goofing off without doing anything strenuous will take you downhill fast. On days that I don't do anything productive I always do some push-ups, sit-ups, and swing some dumbells around a bit. If I don't I will start going soft fast. Love riding my bicycle but I'm tired of all my trails around here, need to find, or make, some new ones. Nothing clears out my lungs and makes me feel better than a 3-6 mile bike ride. All of this holiday food consumption isn't helping me a bit.
  16. I wanna see this Arkansas loop knot.
  17. Heck yeah, I'm sure. Can't begin to count the number of good fish I've caught off of swim ladders.
  18. Probably a few, but it's not known for them. Musky is the only "special treatment" that Pomme de terre gets. I understand that the Walleye are doing really well there the last couple years.
  19. Well MDC says that she can do it all she wants. "They recognize the problem it has created, but there's no regulation that they can enforce to keep her from doing it". She's just "feeding birds".
  20. If it wasn't inside the city limits and right off the highway it could be taken care of in a single afternoon. Or at least the coyotes and foxes would help. The thought of accidentally spilling a few bags of corn on the highway has occurred to me since apparently it's not illegal to bait them.
  21. My experience with that stuff is that it just sucks. There's alot of elaborate pvc condos underwater around here.....the best ones usually hold a few dink crappie, and that's about it. Old sunken steel dock walkways and dock framing, or sunken boat hoists are really good though. I know where there's a steel patio table that consistently holds a few fish. 😉 Never met a tire without a fish on it either. 😂 If I was gonna suspend something off the edges of a dock..... several old tires with rocks in them and a few holes drilled in them. Killer!
  22. Pines and cedars tend to just curl up into a tight ball of sticks when cut and sunken. Better than nothing I suppose, but sinking brush is kinda hard work and if you're gonna go to all that effort you might as well use the best wood cover you can get your hands on. Pallet stake beds weighted down with a pile of rocks are great. A half dozen piles of rocks is even better.
  23. A local gal has taken to feeding geese and ducks and building huge nesting areas out of bales of hay. What was once a great fishing spot is ruined now because of all the poop and constant waterfowl activity. MDC has been called but they said she wasn't breaking any regulations and there was nothing they could do. She can't be content with just having 5-10 geese hanging around, she apparently needs 250-300+ to be happy. Probably spends 50.00+ a week on sack corn. I'd like to see her beat unconscious with a dead goose and buried under a dump truck load of goose turds.
  24. Yessir, I've done it to myself twice and seen others do it countless times. It's never pretty.
  25. Yeah, fine bamboo rods are cool looking, but I'd choose a cheap IM6 graphite rod to fish with before I would succumb to the grass. I think I'd even pick up an old yellow Eagle Claw first.
