  1. I'm not one of you guys that considers what I am told as an education. I didn't learn what I know about outboard motors from the instructors at MMI, and I challenge you to find someone that will claim (even in private conversation) that I suck at it. 😊 I'll be the first one to admit that all these certificates don't mean jack !
  2. I ain't believing it. Why no stripers in Truman ? If they are breeding stripers then it's only for hybrid brood stock. If it was a significant amount then they would openly mention STRIPERS as a species available to be sought after on Lake O.....and they don't, now do they? My wife and I are going on a field trip to Lost Valley with my daughter next month, and if given an opportunity (without disrupting the activity for the kids) I'll see if I can find out. There's really no sense in me inquiring about it because odds are I am not going to believe it if they tell me that they actively stock Striped bass in numbers that would matter. I freakin' live here and I know better. They don't stock Musky either....but lookie here ! Question:. Where else do they claim to stock Striped Bass ?
  3. I don't know what the average growth rate is for Stripers, but I would assume 6-7 years on that one. Nice! 👍
  4. I didn't even know there were walleye in LB. It's been many years for me, and we always targeted the green fish. Wish I could help.
  5. I became a huge War Eagle fan about 4-5 years ago. There's just something they have that all the other spinnerbaits don't. I hate the hooks on them, wish they were bigger/better, BUT I don't think they have cost me any fish. WE's don't last forever though, and if you fish them much you'll learn when it's time to retire one. I cut some length off the clear plastic tube that separates the blades. Enough so that when hanging upright the blades overlap about 1/4". A trick I learned while playing with one in the swimming pool. Try it. 😊
  6. Try a short (12-14") 3/4oz. Carolina rig with a Zipper grub. Steady drag along the bottom, and sweep hard to the side when you feel extra weight. 👍
  7. I emptied it, try again, or just call or shoot me a text
  8. 55.00 PM me your address and I'll have Sugarbritches put them in the mail Monday.
  9. Probably something blocking the high speed fuel circuit in one or more of the carbs, but if you are rebuilding the carbs it's best to just go ahead and refresh the entire fuel system (carbs, fuel pump, primer, clean out the filter, and replace all the hoses). Here are the "kits" required to do it. I can do it after October 9th, or I can send you the kits if you wanna tackle it yourself.
  10. Pardon my dirty hands.... I've been working all day, but do you see that shadow under my thumbnail? That's from a Johnson Silver Minnow at the young age of 17, and I STILL carry the scar. You've never experienced a more painful hook extraction than that beefy hook with it's insane harpoon barb.... directly under your thumbnail. I genuinely passed out cold, came to about 5 minutes later, then almost passed out again two more times. The juice from an Uncle Josh pork strip added even more insult to the injury. Ugh! 😵 Everything else since has been child's play.
  11. Well, the string trick requires 2 hands, so when you can't do that you grab some pliers and become a real man. If you don't have pliers THEN you're an idiot. 😄
  12. It wouldn't be for me, if I could get by with one or two. But I carry 11 of the sonsabitches ! Just like everyone else.
  13. Been skipping jigs since 1989 so I'm not sure what to say here, but I'm compelled to say SOMETHING. 😄
  14. Once I start seeing multiple 400.00 reels on the decks of my customers boats.....there will be no more favors and free lunches at Sims Marine 😁 Y'all are crazy for buying into that BS! What can be added to the parts list of a reel to make it go from 67.95 to 418.97 ? The same can be said about the electronics you guys are buying up like crazy. The fishing community is showing the world that there's no price too high, and if I can do ONE outboard repair per week and make the same amount of money that I am by working 6-7 days then bygod I want a piece of this too ! 😊
  15. Good points. 👍
  16. As fishermen, what privileges have we lost? The only one that comes to mind is being able to use felt soled boots, and although their reasoning is stupid and has no foundation at all.....at least they are telling us WHY. Some "rules" make no sense whatsoever, and they should know that. So in those cases I think they should openly explain the justification for the rule. If we all understood then maybe less rules would get broken. It's real easy, you just post that "This lake is designated as a blah-blah-blah, therefore no outboard use is permitted".
  17. Going on far away trips to catch amazingly beautiful, or exceptionally large fish is not in my bucket anymore. It would just make me want to leave home and go live there. And since I am perfectly happy with where I live, and perfectly happy fishing for what's here....why tempt myself by starting an affair that will inevitably break me or leave me heartsick? My running around, exploring the world, and chasing dreams, days are past. No place makes me feel better than the Missouri Ozarks, and the fishing here is enough.
  18. Right! Just fartin' and pissin' all the way.
  19. After spending my whole life looking at the BACK END of a boat, it sure will be nice to look at the front for awhile. 😊
  20. You're like a fly in a spiderweb I imagine. Whenever I hear these stories about people diving off a boat or a dock ....and never resurfacing...my first thought is "mono".
  21. Yes it CAN pull 50A if you hold it back, or try to drag the boat completely out of the water, but typically you're only pulling a wet boat about 2ft. (for about 7 seconds). That isn't long enough or hard enough to smoke any wires. It won't even blow a 15amp fuse if you get off the switch as soon as the bow hits the winch stand. I do it all the time with a deep V on a roller trailer. Doesn't even dim the tail lights on the truck.
  22. I've been told that on Lake O the first thing you learn is how much FISHING LINE is down there. And how easily it is to get tangled up in it. Carry 2 sheath knives .....and don't panic. If you think you can swim away hard enough to break old soggy 6# line... you're wrong.
  23. If by chance you got a visual.....it went down exactly like you imagined. 😅
  24. You're the worst electrician I know. Wait, that isn't true. I forgot about Captain Wirenut that lives over the hill. 🙄
