  1. It's best if there isn't, but if there is then the arbors are fitted to the blank taper and the seat fitted to the arbors...which should also be tapered so as to trap the seat between the arbor(s) and the foregrip, or whatever is above the reel seat. Doesn't matter what is below it because the arbor ain't going anywhere...or shouldn't.
  2. No, close but they have to be fitted. An uplocking reel seat on a flyrod, for example, would push itself apart if not fitted to the blank taper. Skeletonized or exposed blank reel seats on casting rods absolutely have to be fitted to the blank taper. The only reason not to fit the arbors and reel seat would be because you're lazy or you goofed when building the rod.....so you just loaded it up with an ounce and a half of glue. Fine rods just aren't supposed to be built that way.
  3. I have experienced strainers, both ones I could see and ones in the Mississippi that I couldn't. A log underwater (that you can't see) creates a hydraulic effect that will try to suck you under. Was always told to relax and go with it and not waste too much energy trying to fight it, but I've always been able to fight my way out. I always worry about fishing line (especially braid) when swimming in our lakes and rivers. There's tons of that stuff out there.
  4. Ha! 😆 Back in the day one of my buddies used to holler "Oh I'm sorry, do you wanna fish here?" to the guys at Bennett that started crowding in on him. They would always apologize and move.
  5. Ha! I can relate. I'm no stranger to the sound of a double-hauled clouser smacking the side of an aluminum boat. 😣
  6. I've seen people breaking the rules at the Trout Park but they weren't tearing up the fish by any means so it didn't bother me. The old crabby glo-ball trophy sight fisher (that all B.S. regulars know by name only) was always more annoying than any Powerbait or plastic worm fishing people there.
  7. Pretty hard to beat Sonny's where I fish for channel cat. I might go see if I can catch some this evening. Catfish, cornbread and baked beans actually sounds pretty good right now.
  8. I can get you all kinds of screenshots of suspended fish, but I'd be lying if I told ya I loaded the boat with them. I don't even try anymore. (Well that's a lie, I tried just the other day, bumped one and brought up a scale on the tip of my hook, but didn't get a single bite).
  9. I've always wondered why some guys believe the location of the "channel" is a factor, when the channel is deeper than any fish ever goes ? I only concern myself with channel location on Lake O when the channel depth is less than 30' deep.
  10. I'm worse than a plastic worm drifter, I wear felt !
  11. Well I thought I had a solid understanding of all the rules and regulations, but I learned something here regarding the possession limit, I think. Better to be on the safe side though.
  12. About the only desirable thing left at B.S. is that the agents aren't walking around interrupting people to nit-pick and inspect what's on the end of their line all the time. IMO seeing someone break the rules from time to time would be way more desirable than having to go through a strip search everytime I wanted to fish there. Just go flyfish zone 3 and forgetaboutit. 😎
  13. MDC has their standard answer just waiting for deployment. They are gonna say... "Oh not to worry, this is a natural thing that just happens because of blah-blah and BLAH. And furthermore blah- blahblahblah". The translation is: Hell we don't know, and even if we did there's nothing anyone can do about it, so just keep enjoying your beautiful lake and pay your taxes. You're right though, the only difference between the floaters and sinkers is whether they hiccupped or farted right before their heart quit beating. If they hiccupped then they float, if they fart then they sink. Fish do alot more farting than hiccupping (unless they die a sudden death or are shocked unconscious), so for every floater there is probably 100+ sinkers.
  14. Oh heck no, his clicker would have me living in a van down by the river in no time.
  15. I threw a buzzbait at a sunken "tractor tire" once that instantly transformed into a really pissed off 12' gator that swam angrily under my boat in 3 fow, bumping it and knocking me off my feet. I nearly hyperventilated. Can't imagine a scarier freshwater experience, so I'll leave the saltwater critters to you badasses.
  16. Does depth matter ?
  17. My grandpa used to trade catfish and fresh killed racoons for some of the best BBQ ribs ever made. Nothing wrong with the barter system !
  18. There's only one thing I'll wake up at 4:am to do, and I'm pretty sure there will be none of that going on.
  19. BS! I've never blown anybody for a toothbrush.
  20. I wanna ride along next year. I promise to contribute and to behave. No Spiderman panties or incessant farting. I just don't wanna be forced to go to bed before midnight and be woken up before 5:am. Ok? 🤗
  21. I'll give you $4 to quit counting the ones you catch.
  22. That's a solid response. Is it ok if the LO guys use it when y'all bash OUR lake? You see, we get to hear about how foul and rediculous lake O is all the time from the TR guys, and all the while Lake O limits are dwarfing yours. Maybe after awhile that crap builds up inside the folks that truly do love this lake.....and a little sarcasm seeps out. Big deal, lighten up. Nobody wants to see a fish kill ANYWHERE. But when we have one here what is the first thing that comes to your mind? "Doesn't surprise me, that place is a cesspool". Right?
  23. He's too embarrassed to tell us that he tripped over his own feet. Or he stopped to pee, dropped his pecker and broke his foot trying not to step on it. 😂
  24. Ok but you gotta eat them. Let me know how that Speckled Fart Darter tastes. 😁
  25. It's pretty clear to me. Pretty fair too. As much as I like to give MDC the finger I admire their rules and limits and wish everyone would abide by them. Except for the Spoonbill regs, which are stupid, but I don't give 2 hoots about Spoonbill so....
