Those are among the best in the reliability department. The tiny screens on the business ends of the injectors need to be removed and thrown away, but usually after that has been done those mid-90's throttle body EFI's are pretty bulletproof. Stupidest place to put a filter if you ask me. If it's small enough to pass through an injector then go ahead and let the motor eat it. Don't hold it back and let it reduce fuel flow into the cylinder. WTH were they thinking?

Bass Tournament: Lake of the Ozarks- Cold Water Challenge
fishinwrench replied to slothman's topic in Fishing Events
I need to get out there and make sure I can even get bit. I assume that somebody will be taking money at the ramp that morning ? -
I wanna see that .25 Hatsan propped up on one.

They are Tohatsu now.

There are armed "resource officers" at the schools around here. A few months ago one of them was put on leave for a rape investigation. A year before that another one was taken off the school grounds for falling asleep in his car and not answering a request to secure a doorway. And yet another one, working the school when not on duty with the water patrol, was placed on temporary leave because he was under a manslaughter investigation of which most of you here were aware of. I'm afraid that none of those badge wearing clowns make any of these kids or their teachers feel any safer.

I think that instead of worrying about guns they should take smart phones and the internet away from anyone with any hint of mental weirdness. Isolate them to their own creativeness and keep the creativeness of others worldwide from influencing them. One kid in Arizona eats a Tide pod......then almost overnight you have idiots gobbling up laundry detergent Nationwide. Do you think they would have thought of that on their own ?

Agree in lots of ways, but arming the faculty won't be a good idea after a few English teachers or basketball coaches go nuts and open fire during an assembly because their wife is having an affair. Something has definitely changed since I was a teenager. Society and the way people think has taken a really bad turn. You can't trust anyone to maintain their senses anymore. You can't trust teachers, you can't trust doctors, you can't trust cops. Sports events and music concerts are risky. Maybe it's better if the folks in Missouri never hear about the things that happen in Florida, and the folks in Florida never hear about what happens in Nevada. I think we are just too connected now and bad ideas get spread far and wide. A pissed off kid probably wouldn't think about shooting up his school if he hadn't heard (and watched videos) about it happening at least once a month somewhere else. The internet is messing up the weaker minds out there. I know for a fact that I would be way better off if my daughter didn't know what a Hatch-a-mal was !

It's just the way our society works. We are all controlled with guns. The punishment for continued resistance of the system, is to be shot, right? Anytime there's a conflict over who's system gets adherence to.....we have a war.
-
I'd wager that if you took a look at the ones who have done the shooting, you'd find that they weren't coddled, handed trophies, and never smacked. The real problem is overpopulation. There are so many people that some of them lose compassion for others. A group of 3-4 kids will get along with each other and work problems out. A group of 50 will divide into smaller groups. And a couple of individuals will never find their group. The more crowded the world gets, the more problems it has.
-
The shooters know right from wrong. It isn't parent induced ignorance. Put the blame where it truly belongs. If they didn't know right from wrong then they'd never pass 3rd grade.

I noticed the last time I went into a crowded court room that there's no chance of carrying anything besides a wallet and some car keys into there. And they go through that shakedown every day. So it's possible to assure that nobody mows down a covey of current county officials, but not quite as important that nobody mows down the future ones.

You can thank the same generation that eats laundry detergent.

Truman's level fluctuates so much that bass are hard to pattern. The most consistent pattern I know of is targeting the fish that are suspended in the trees. Swim jigs, Ribbon tail worms, Spinnerbaits. Or use your imagination. The bass even spawn in the trees. Which trees? Ya never know. Sometimes fishing only cedars or only mature hardwoods will pay off, but not always. Tickling baits through the branches never works for me, just cast it out, let it sink, and crank it in steady. Experiment with speed but otherwise don't try to get fancy. Usually either 7-8ft. or 10-12ft. down. That's all I've got. Truman was a wicked good bass lake in the 70's early 80's but then it turned into a Catfish, Crappie and Hybrid lake.

This one is for you MO Carp
fishinwrench replied to Smalliebigs's topic in General Angling Discussion
Carp guys always wanna give their genetic freaks their own species classification. If they caught one with a torn fin, a missing eye, or a big nasty sore on its side they would declare it a rare and special sub-species. I think carp anglers are a rare and special sub-species. -
The fact that she's part of Emergency Management, and doesn't have a boat, is embarrassing.

Describes Orion to a T. Fears nothing and has no reasoning capability whatsoever. Everytime he takes off on his own I fear he'll do something stupid and get himself killed. Until it happens though, it's impossible to have a bad day when he's around.
-
No but I bet I could finish a beer while waiting for the "rings to disappear".
-
I'm sure they have some tactical reason for that. I'm also sure that if I knew what it was I could point out how rediculous it is.
-
Nope. Doubt there will be much water moving thru Truman dam until some reasonably heavy rain falls.

5k hours on a saltwater motor is a fairy tale. 800 is average. 1500 is possible
-
It's not a quality problem, really. They want to be the fastest, and High Performance comes at a cost. The best top fuel dragsters are only good for about six 1/4 mile runs between rebuilds. They run fast, but they don't run long.
-
It's no secret that I rebuild more Merc's than any other. They are the fastest top end outboards out there, but that extra speed does come with a price. Just depends on what's most important to ya.
-
Ooooh! You just pissed in your livewell. See ya soon.
-
Yeah, but that doesn't mean anything. The guys at the Merc factory don't build them any better than OBR. There's no boring the ProXS motors. Damaged cylinders have to be sleeved back to standard bore size. Well they CAN BE bored, but it's not recommend. I have done a few and not lost any sleep over it. They are still out there running. Knock on wood!

MSRP is 4509.00 (plus tax and shipping) for the powerhead. I think I can do considerably better than that but it will take a few days to find out for sure. The guy I need to talk to is piddling around out in the Florida keys right now. As always the most important thing is determining WHY a piston siezed and correcting that before moving that problem onto a fresh powerhead. Let me know if you want an estimate and I'll get one figured up. You're not alone, this year is starting out with blown Merc's right & left.
