  1. Oh God you stole her hair pick! ? The honeymoon is over NOW !!!!
  2. I'd like to kick that basturd into the lake the same way.
  3. Well....think of it this way: We buy boats that can handle the roughest water that mother nature can dish out. We equip these boats with high power trolling motors, powerful outboards, GPS/sonar, and 700GPH bilge pumps. We buy outstanding rain gear and PFD's, things to protect our eyes and faces so we can run through heavy rain and hailstorms. And we buy specialized baits for high and muddy water. We even have punch baits for fishing heavy mats of debris. To do all of this just to fish on Golden Pond would be kinda rediculous, no? Wait.....I think I just heard thunder ???
  4. If you're in 2 fow then you are not in the main channel. The skinniest spot I'm aware of is 14' at the current lake level.
  5. Are they now going to start taking it easier on the anglers, before they start taking it easier on the fish ? ? Millennials!
  6. This is what tournament fishing is supposed to be all about..... Catching fish during every imaginable set of conditions. To quote Bob Cobb...."Even in the wake of an E.L.E. nuclear holocaust". Guido Hibdon won a BASS event out East, from a swamped Ranger 390 during hurricane Hugo's wrath. ??
  7. More times than not I'm going over a cable and under a walkway, so I want a rod and line that can handle the job of wrestling a fish out. For me it's a 6'6" or 7'3" med/hvy with 20# co-poly. If I'm letting the jig fall to the bottom and the bites are coming on the initial drop then I want the 6'6", but if I'm swimming it I like the 7'3". For whatever reason I can detect bites on the drop and react quicker with the shorter stick. And when you're shooting a bait back into tight places the heavier line is easier to manage (doesn't tend to backlash as bad when you miscalculate a bit). My jigs are always 1/2oz. or more (the actual weight is 7/16) and the shape of the head is irrelevant, I can shoot a football head or Arkie style head just as easy as the ones with flat bottoms designed for shooting.
  8. Come ahead on ! As long as they allow the lake to be at 657 or above it should be good for a few weeks.
  9. You just toss him the Band-Aids and remind him that you weren't stupid enough to grab your bird before it had given up the ghost ! ??
  10. Messages regarding the potentially excessive relocating of bass have been sent to those who get paid to know such things. It was asked that IF (by chance) the current level of bass relocation posed no problem whatsoever, then what level would? Would having 5 times more tournaments be a problem? 10 times more? If it can't be regulated now, then when? Can it ever? As of yet there has been no reply at all. Seems to me that this is a topic that nobody wants to step in, for fear of being quoted. You can ask just about anything else and receive a polite and thoughtful reply within 48 hours. They'll talk your ear off about Walleye stocking, Striper reproduction, Spoonbill breeding, Gizzard and Threadfin shad spawns, ect. But they don't seem to want to discuss the potential effects of too many tournaments and/or the constant relocating of Bass. What do ya reckon they are afraid of ? If their "studies" indicate no negative effect caused from constantly relocating wildlife then I'd kinda like to start hosting some cottonmouth and copperhead roundups 24 times per month with the official weigh-in and release right in front of my ex wife's house. ??? Heck I'd even settle for rats and field mice. Can I get a permit for a rodent tournament team trail ?
  11. Your good to go at 657.0 (which is where we are currently).
  12. We finally got enough water to move the boys club into the creeks. This should be enough for a good mess. Now, if they'll just not suck the lake back down AGAIN !
  13. Boom !!! Freakin' slam dunk right there. "stakeholders from our bass fishing industry" I wanna become one of those, so that my voice gets heard.
  14. Here ya go. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B1TAvwZ3TjhfZDJiNjc5YzAtYzBhYy00MjlmLTg5NzktMjQyZDJhMGQ3YzQ1/edit?pli=1
  15. Depends on the controls. Merc control boxes have a tensioner screw. Aftermarket flush mount controls (Morse, Detmar, etc) often do not. After a few years your cables will get a bit stiff and that issue will likely go away. Post a pic of your controls and I can tell you if it has a tensioner adjustment.

    What's Cooking?

Mine doesn't, but she is a big-time weed puller. Always out in the flowers broke over like a double-barrel shotgun.

    What's Cooking?

Wow this thread is a genuine record breaker. Do none of y'all's wives cook ? I hope you at least give them plenty of clothes to wash.
  18. Oh I think it would be a great way to hunt turkeys....As long as you know for sure that there isn't any idiots within shotgun range. I was taught to not shoot any bird until you could clearly see his beak. That insures that the bird is within range AND that it is most definitely a bird.
  19. I have a personal problem with the word "accident" being used when it comes to someone getting shot. When you're careless or just plain stupid then someone getting hurt isn't an "accident".... It's what happens. And if it doesn't then your just LUCKY. A gun doesn't "accidentally discharge", it goes off when the trigger gets pushed, just like it's supposed to.
  20. Very cool ! ? Alot of gals hunt and fish with their significant other, but darn few go at it alone.
  21. Nope, and I set the hook like I'm splitting wood. With 10-12# line. Bummer!
  22. I took a boat in on trade that has a pair of Garmin GPS MAP 185 units on it. I'm Keen on Lowrance and HB units but have never played with any of the Garmin stuff. There is no card in these units and the GPS puck is missing. If I just replace the puck will the gps mapping feature work or do I have to have the card? I'd like to have these units operational (for the most part) before putting the boat up for sale. If they are basically junk don't hesitate to say so, and I'll just install units that I'm more familiar with. Thanks.
  23. According to the Blazer website the only Blazer dealer within 500 miles is Blackbeard Marine in Kingston, Ok But then Trout & son's advertise on their site that they are a Blazer dealer. http://www.trouttandsons.com/Boats/Blazer_boats.html My advise is to call Trout & Sons and say "Hey, how do I finance one of these friggin' things? And oh by the way, did you know that their website doesn't acknowledge you?" ?
  24. I had something on while out on the flat one Fall chasing whites that I couldn't do anything with. The water was only 5-7ft and whatever it was fought in close, never taking any long runs, and never attempted to swim into any rootwads or under any logs, but I couldn't get it up to see what it was without breaking my 10# leader. After about 15-20 minutes I got tired of holding him and just held the reel handle until he broke off. Huge flathead? Spoonbill? Giant gar? Big snapper snagged in the tail?I I haven't a clue, but it was BIG and it was obvious that it wasn't going to give up. I don't think I have ever lost a big bass. Not a really big one anyway. The big girls are usually easier to land than the 3-4 pounders I think. They just don't seem to have that high-performance energy. They'll come up and shake their big ol'head around....But I don't think I've ever had a 6+ jump completely out of the water or make a blistering run into a snag. I've lost a good number of oversized trout. They'll get in a good current seam and take a bunch of line, then run upstream about 25' real quick, and while you are struggling to get that line collected they'll turn back downstream at 80mph and crack your whip (steelhead style). Nothing you can do but stand there and pout.
  25. Point of aim is supposed to be the turkeys HEAD. If they didn't see a head then they shouldn't have squeezed off a shot. Who (besides Kansas Flatlanders) shoots a turkey in the butt ?
