  1. There probably is but none that I know of off the top of my head. Most "fishing toons" are just pontoons with a couple pedastals up front and a trolling motor. In my opinion if you are going to seriously fish out of it under various conditions then the console needs to be moved to the center, the railing needs to be lowered front and back, the solid panels need to be removed and replaced with netting or something that doesn't act as a sail in the wind, there needs to be friendly storage areas for rods and fishing gear, the front deck area needs to be beefed up to handle a SERIOUS trolling motor mount, it needs a REAL livewell, not just a box that holds 8" of stagnant water, and seating needs to be portable so that you can fish 360° around the console. The trailer needs to be a good fit and not any higher than is necessary for towing so that launching/loading isn't such a PIA. Word of warning: A toon that is a joy to fish out of is NOT going to be liked by your wife. Not at all. She is going to hate it.
  2. I have built and rigged a bunch of them specifically for fishing, and their owners love them. Mostly they are setup for drifting for cats, or for chasing whites, hybrids, and crappie. Not good for bass fishing at all. If a toon is designed for serious fishing then they do GREAT, but fishing from one that is a pleasure craft with a trolling motor.....just doesn't work. I'd rather be on the bank.
  3. Something tells me that Watson ended up on top in the end. I say that because he sure is getting alot of exposure lately. Kevin Short and the others....Not so much. Anyone else notice that?
  4. Well what the heck? Yeah I'm officially sick and tired of the whole big secret thing that goes along with the MLF deal. It is already becoming annoying. It was my initial understanding that they spent 4 days here at LO. Fished 3 days and spent one day running around (making appearances) and doing PR crap. Now my head is spinning. So now they fished 5 days?
  5. Consider this an open and everlasting invitation.....Soon as the ice clears. I'm within spitting distance of the ramp and it doesn't take much arm twisting to get me out there. ☺
  6. So they fished 2 days in the Gravi ? Or 2 days in the Glaize and one day in the Gravi ? So confusing.
  7. Where did they fish on the last day ?
  8. Big Game is great mono, I still use it for deep cranking. It's probably the best bargain in the fishing world. A bit too soft and stretchy for a lot of applications but for open water without a ton of heavy cover, or for vertical jigging, trolling, Catfishin', and stuff like that, Big Game does the job, and it's cheap.
  9. A certain degree of metabolism isn't bred into creatures, it is controlled by diet, energy demands, and the frequency of dietary intake, is it not? So brothers of the same species can have different metabolic rates. Fish, reptiles, and insects all seem to drastically reduce activity rates at about the same temperature, for the most part, but there are some exceptions among creatures that share the same diet and live in the same habitat. So there is obviously a misunderstood element there.
  10. Flys (insects), and other cold blooded creatures, are alot easier to catch in cold temperatures because they don't move around much, and when they do it isn't very fast. In fishing you need to get a cold blooded creature to not only move but to EAT, in order to catch them. A piece of apple pie is perfectly safe from flys, ants and gnats in temps below 55°. Biologically speaking, what is it about some fish that makes them more active in colder temps than other fish ? Trout for instance will charge 20 feet with gusto to eat something the size of a speck of pepper in near freezing water.
  11. Yep, that stuff is junk. I can't even believe it is still on the market. Berkely needs to give that crap up and start over.
  12. We never see any mouse evidence in our house or in my shop, but when my wife got the Christmas stuff out of the attic there was some evidence that a mouse had been in there. So I set 4 traps in the attic, baited with peanut butter, Velveeta cheese, and some cookie dough. None have caught a mouse so far. Maybe I should bait one with a piece of wiring harness.
  13. There was a guy here (Wilbur, a vegetable farmer with no criminal record) that after calling the law ended up shooting someone that was allegedly coming through his front door before the law got there. The guy (a known troublemaker with a rap sheet a mile long that had worked for Wilbur in the past) ended up dying on the porch and I guess there was no blood inside the house. The guy was only armed with a splitting axe and a survival knife so Wilbur ended up losing his property and went to prison for it where he had a heart attack and died about 3 years later while awaiting an appeal. Another guy I knew of was a trucker that shot someone that broke into his truck while he was asleep in it at a truck stop. The guy that broke in was supposedly looking for his wife (LOL) and had a ball bat. The dude that shot him went to jail and lost everything he owned. Makes me wonder.... Under what circumstances can you shoot someone and just continue on with your life without going to jail, only losing the gun that you shot them with? Do you have to let them shoot you, stab you, or hit you with an axe first ?
  14. Why does he have to get out? Snakes love to go fishing.
  15. The boat I am currently running was bought from a customer after making an estimate on "getting it running again" after it had set for 7 years in a storage shed. Everything rubber had to be replaced, carbs rebuilt and all that nonsense. While cleaning it out we kept finding snake skins and eventually rooted out a 4' blacksnake. The boat was a dirty nasty mess, lots of feathers , bird crap, and snake poop. It took alot of scrubbing to clean it up, but having that snake living in there kept the mice problem at bay. All wiring was in perfect condition. So there's how you keep mice out of a boat.
  16. Probably so. The first clue that someone around here is doing meth is that they are working ALL THE TIME. It even pisses them off to stop for lunch. No time for constant Facebook posts, just occasional ones with pics of the project they just finished, and another of the one they are now starting. I ain't too sure it's the dope that kills them.....They are probably working themselves to death. ?
  17. Mice love wiring. Darned if I know why, but they seem to find it irresistible. Maybe I should try chewing on some for awhile and see what the big attraction is. They never chew on control cables, steering cables, or livewell hoses. They don't gnaw on vinyl seats, carpet, or salt impregnated plastic baits or fishing line. But boy do they LOVE electrical wiring. I don't get it. Maybe they think they need some copper in their diet.
  18. I agree. Everything that gets stolen or broke into around here gets blamed on "crackheads", but the truth is that the folks doing meth can't stand to sit around eating tater chips and playing video games, they gotta be up DOING SOMETHING. Not only do most of them work, they usually do quality work and don't mind overtime one bit. Might be hard for most folks to accept that, but it's true. Meth is a nasty NASTY drug.... but bygod it sure gets $#it done.
  19. How do you say that ? Tee-oh-nee-oh-ga ?
  20. Good stuff! Not sure what you mean by 1-5. If you mean 1lb.5oz. then NO that's not a keeper. The 1.12 or 1.13 fish might squeak 15". 10-11 keepers is a dang good day in the Grav-eye.
  21. I have a good 35 Evinrude for sale. Is that close enough? ☺
  22. I think they are going more for looks on a gash moreso than a lasting repiar on a structural break like we have here. Go with whatever suits you but I don't have much faith in any type of epoxy for holding things together in this case. The epoxy is not going to match the flexibility of the material it is applied to in different temperatures I'm afraid. If it was just patching a hole I'm sure it would do fine, but this is a structural fracture and those two ends need to be pulled back together and held permanently ....Not simply glued with a patch. Just my .02
  23. Well post up your findings. There is quite a bit of footage that wasn't shown, but surely they showed all the bigger fish.
  24. I'd be happier just calling Jay Nixon a Collared Lizard.
  25. If the crack goes all the way though I would drill 6-8 pairs of 5/32" holes and use marine grade tie straps (BRP part# 320107) to stitch it together nice and tight. Use clear RTV to seal the crack and holes. Should last forever. I'll send you some straps.... But you'll owe me a 6 pack cuz they are .45 apiece.
