  1. That wasn't YOU fishing and listening to the ball game across from Coconuts yesterday was it ?
  2. Say whaaa ? You've obviously bumped your head. Carry on
  3. I am way too lazy and impatient to fish that way. Just glue a buzzbait rod to your hand and churn water ALL DAY LONG.....FOR 3 DAYS STRAIGHT, and only getting 7-10 bites a day. Good grief, there are way easier ways to make money than that ! Those top three guys are gonna hear buzzbaits in their sleep for weeks after this.
  4. You are sensationalizing. I dont hate the things they do, but if I did that really wouldn't be a big deal cuz they don't DO much of anything around here besides cut grass and drive around looking at things (probably just verifying that the grass got cut).
  5. From Greg Stoner back in 1995-96 when he fished a COPS benefit tournament from the back of my boat. Possibly the last day the dude spent a full day on the water. See that's your problem, Chief. You accept as gospel EVERYTHING you see MDC print. Many MANY times they are full of $#it as a Christmas goose. They spend way more time publishing propaganda than they do going out and physically doing anything. There are some Stripers in LO but they aren't from any recent stockings. Natural reproduction happens. And the hybrids they stock ARE breeding with the Whites which (according to them) is impossible also. They are either blinded by science or they just don't wanna be held liable for altering the gene pool, so the biologists maintain that hybrids are sterile.
  6. Good for you ! I need to get back after the Whites soon.
  7. Haven't had a prob editing but if I hit auto-correct or auto-complete while typing a post it runs out 3 lines of gibberish. Only does that on this forum, nowhere else.
  8. Holler at me when the ribs go on the smoker! I'll be there.
  9. I agree, that's why I asked Biologists are full of crap about hybrid Stripers IMO. And Stripers too. If they quit stocking Stripers in LO back in the '80s then where did this punk come from?
  10. Niiiice ! Where do you reckon those hybrids are coming from ?
  11. Probably the most simple, yet strong knot for smallish flys is the figure 8 or Davy knot. I even taught it to my 6 year old for her crappie/bluegill jigs and she mastered it immediately.
  12. Tryon is pretty easy to read. You can tell whether the place is worthwhile or not by his PC descriptions. Never used his directions to find anything, just use the maps....and they are good.
  13. Are the grubs strictly a spotted bass thing, or do the LM and Smallies have them too ? On a float several years back we knifed some spots, a couple LM, and some green Sunny's, and only the spots had the worms. Why are spotted bass always loaded with them moreso than other species, or are they?
  14. Not sure but I think the goal for a Hatchery manager is to manage the hatchery. Raise enough trout.....but not too many. Keep all the quarterly numbers between the lines of a grid. Stocking the river any differently than before isn't likely, but if they do they will certainly get on a hilltop to crow about it. So you'll know.
  15. Hey, old enough to go to the store......is old enough to get bred.
  16. pretty sure there has been some "strain" blending going on for quite awhile. Who else here remembers the Cutbows at Bennett ?
  17. I'm not down with the making of mutts on purpose thing. I kinda prefer that my favorite fish stay un-genetically modified. Especially since they are "new to this" and "still learning" maybe it's best not to create any batches of weirdos and start throwing them in the river. They might as well start jacking with Smallmouth genetics, maybe they can breed some Smallies that'll hit 20" in 4 years. No that was a joke, please leave our Smallie genes as they are and don't introduce any of your lab experiments, or other clones, into our rivers.
  18. Most engines were perfect a long time ago. It's the operators, fuel blenders, and emission weirdos that started sucking.
  19. You did better than we did. Yesterday I had 4 nice fish in no time once I figured out where they were hanging out. Today I hit a bunch of the same stuff and never boated a keeper. Nothing has changed (same water, same weather, ect) so what the hell ? It's all work and no play for me until sometime next week, so by then I'll have to forget everything I know and start from scratch.
  20. Fingerless wool. They dry fast and are warm even when wet. Extremely durable too, I've been using the same 2 pairs for 4-5 years now.
  21. They've been doing this stuff since the 1930's and they still don't have it down ? What's left to study ? What have they been doing for the last 80 years, playing tiddlywinks ?
  22. Oh heck yeah ! Flyfishing for whites is the most fun to can have with your clothes on.
  23. Ahh, yep you are right. Lucky you! I was looking at the wrong list. Not sure why it would be different depending on shaft length but apparently it is.
  24. Looks good but IMO the woolly style hackle needs to go, or trim it real short. Helgie flys that cut the water better or are less dense seem to be the ticket. The water pushes on that hackle too much and alot of the drift is wasted while the fly gets to the bottom. Smallies don't care about "drag" so tie them like a rock (lead barbell eyes) so they get to the bottom fast.....then hold them up just enough to slip/swing downstream. A 3" long heavily weighted rabbit strip Leech catches them really good in the riffles or just below. Whether or not it is being mistaken for a hellgie I have no idea, and don't care.
  25. I'm betting there isn't a single person present at the meetings, nor a single person submitting an email that is in favor of more harvest. The only folks they are hearing from is those who wish to lessen harvest. Yet they still will not change a thing. This whole process is a circle jerk.
