  1. Proper liquid level in a battery is just enough to cover the plates when the battery is at a slight tilt. Battery's shouldn't leak. If they do then there is a problem. Overcharging, or a bad voltage regulator on the outboard will boil a battery over. If your battery's are wet on top then SOMETHING is amiss.
  2. So with that theory in mind what do you suppose it does to upper end areas with less than a 20' maximum depth ? The "current" should be greatest in THOSE areas, and in the narrowest sections of the main lake. The narrowest area of mainlake LO are the bends above and below Tan-Tara. Can't say that that particular area fishes any better than elsewhere, even considering it doesn't get fished hardly at all for 4 months of the year. So now what?
  3. Pretty much, yeah. Otherwise as much as fishing is talked about and wrote about, if it wasn't all hyperbole and WAG's then none of us would have an excuse for having a slow day. Probably the only way we can learn any more about fish is to quit breathing air and go live with them awhile.
  4. Lake Ozark area Craigslist is LOADED with old Richline aluminum V's with No Title. Cheap! Perfect for what you are wanting to do.
  5. To me this whole "generation=fish movement/activity" thing is hyperbole. Shad and crawfish are EVERYWHERE so fish have no need to travel to a mainlake points in order to feed. Cover, shade, and the composition of the bottom are the only things that matter to bass and crappie. The imperceptible current created by the generation of water from Bagnell either has zero effect on fish activity, or not enough effect to even justify depending on it. John, are you running out of stuff to write about? Lets go chase some Fall Whites!
  6. Fog is just one of natures elements that you deal with, it is all part of fishing. No big deal. You can't go changing rules every time a cloud passes over.

  8. LOL yep. You didn't chock the wheels good though....it rolled down the holler and wrapped itself around a oak tree and took my Jon boat with it. Mine is heavily insured..... How'bout yours ? J/K. Your first on the list tomorrow AM.
  9. Oh, and bring your maps if you have to visit me, I'll mark a spot or three for ya.
  10. I was considering it, but I'm gonna sit at the shop and play Pit Crew boss. Holler if ya break something and I'll get you back out there asap.
  11. Watched it from the river bank. Pretty cool, but redness factor was only about 50%. More of a Autumn Orange. Fitting I suppose.
  12. You can text me if you want. Same number. Not sure I trust the PM function here now. So far I've had service the majority of the time.
  13. I'm currently on the upper Big Niangua. They are all over the topwater stuff. Caught loads of 12-13 inchers on a Sneaky Pete today. Lil'Ni should fish about the same. Have fun !
  14. Here's the link for LO levels/discharge. Updates every 15-30 minutes. http://apps.ameren.com/HydroElectric/Reports/Osage/HeadWaterTailWater.aspx
  15. I hear of a couple each year, but I've never seen one. A verified 13 pounder is the biggest bass I've ever heard come from LO. and I think that waswas back in the '70's
  16. I was shopping for a pair of SC Premier casting rods earlier this Spring and within arms reach were some Triumph's. Gave one a shake and quickly realized that they were a better rod than the Premier for 30.00 less. Made in Mexico doesn't bother me one little bit. I bought 4 of them and like them just fine for bass fishing.
  17. You might hold your head differently, thereby changing your anchor point. Otherwise it shouldn't make any difference.
  18. Sure, You can drop it off at my place. (26788 Cook rd. Gravois Mills) I won't be back until Tuesday though. Will be able to have it troubleshooted Wed. and can give you a call and let you know what needs to be done.
  19. Yeah there is stuff you could do, but I really don't have time to type (explain) it all right now. I'm all caught up at the shop.....otherwise I wouldn't be out playing

  21. That switch is designed to be wired in a series. Power jumps from one switch to the neighboring switch. Are you checking for 12v behind the switch or assuming it isn't right because the lights aren't coming on ? There are two other trouble areas (per light) downstream of the switch that are USUALLY the issue with Nav/anchor lights.
  22. On a float trip and not checking in as often as usual Likely a carb or fuel quality issue. Take a sample of the fuel in a glass jar. If the fuel looks OK you'd better get it in for repairs asap. Don't operate it if one or more cylinders are running lean, you'll score a cylinder. Oh and if it says I'm not accepting PM's I don't know how to fix that. I've gotten PM's from others recently. Hmm.
  23. I've had several 24" Mo. bass that were plenty thick and chunky..... But still shy of 8# My Florida pig was 26.5" and 11/7. The head, gills, and gut on that fish was enormous. Pretty amazing the difference an inch of girth can make in the weight.
  24. That is correct. There will be one corner post with nothing hooked to it......UNLESS it is a livewell switch, in which case that empty post will be dedicated to a timer. (Same type of switch is used). I doubt that Lowe wired it wrong. Most problems with boat lights are in the sockets or posts.
  25. Working! I learned a long time ago that if you take a guys money by beating him fishing then you're an A-hole. But if you take his money by fixing his boat you are a HERO. And the odds that someone who you routinely beat on tournament day will bring his boat to you when it needs fixing is slim to none. I think it's a pride thing. So I either fish competitively OR I make my living as an outboard tech.....Trying to do both is a bad business choice. Too darn many awesome fishermen out there these days, and I'd much rather take their money by working on their boats than TRYING to beat them fishing. . It's easier that way.
