  1. I'm too excited at the thought of taking in 700.00 on a 4cylinder carb job that I can't process any of the other information you posted. Seriously though, the job flat rates at 3.5 hr. and the kits are about 65.00 (retail) for 4 of them. That calculates to a shop rate of 180.00 per hour. I think I'll give myself a healthy raise, effective immediately. By all means take it back and tell them you are still having problems with it.
  2. Well Dan, what is the point of altering regulations if none of it is enforced ? IMO the "old" regulations would serve just fine IF they were followed.
  3. Yeah...., what is ya, ignert? Maybe if ya spent more time tinkering with your electronics you wouldn't have canker sores!
  4. Comments sent. But if they don't start getting out of their air conditioned trucks, get some mud on their shoes and cuckle-burrs on their pant legs, pop in on a few gigging partys that are not at a public access, ect. then changes in regulations are just words on a website or pamphlet. While fishing I have only seen an agent outside of a MDC access once in 40 years, and have NEVER seen one get more than 30 yards from his truck. I don't expect that to change either.
  5. Obviously written by a biologist.
  6. That's a good gal that will come looking for you. If I was more than 3 hours late most of my stuff would be listed on the Facebook yardsale.
  7. In all actuality there's no way to know, same deal as color or scent. If either gives you more confidence then roll with it.
  8. Was that the one that MDC shocked and it didn't recover ?
  9. No you won't be able to run it. Put in below at Mari-Osa. The fishing is flakey, it can be amazing.....or deader than a hammer. Roll the dice.
  10. 96.4% of my jig bites happen on the initial fall. Rattles just add weight (which isn't always bad, but far from a deal breaker).
  11. Blinded by Science !
  12. Raemi and Amber were there and saw it. Actually the damage to the dock isn't bad at all, we ran over and looked at it and you could hardly tell anything happened. And the occupants were a little sore and shook up but otherwise OK. Nobody was drunk so I'm not sure how or why that got reported. The passenger was the guys "mistress" so that's why he was in a hurry to settle it and move along. LOL The boat was driven away with only a few gouges in the fiberglass and a busted bow light.
  13. Trying to imagine how hitting a wave of water can "break the outdrive". I'm at a loss.
  14. To say that it was "rough" leaving the Shootout is the understatement of the century. It was scary as hell ! As far as I know everyone made it home safe though . We have some crazys but we also have some of the best boat operators in the world here. You can't deny THAT. Good thing too, cuz the Water Patrol and Coast Guard guys couldn't handle it. They hid in a cove until it was over Luckily for them they didn't have to do any protecting and serving.
  15. They were too busy drinking beer and giggling. I mean look at the dude with the pink rod and inflatable PFD in 2' of water. The protocol is to pull his ripcord when he looks about ready to pass out. Although it's really fun just to reach over and pull it just for kicks ANYTIME.
  16. Ah yes I've heard this all my life it seems, and I've heard it from guys I consider way better anglers than myself. Here's the thing though.....If the bite occurs DOWNSTREAM of your position then a downstream sweep of the rod is rediculis. No matter which direction you wave your rod that fly is gonna move UPSTREAM. The best way to get a fish stuck is by line control during the drift.....Just enough slack for the desired drift attitude BUT with enough tension that as soon as anything stops the motion of the fly things begin IMMEDIATELY tightening up. Think of your drift as a FISH TRAP, and set/maintain it accordingly. Granted this can't be done very well with a bobber.
  17. When it's all about finding and catching trout I'm all about drifting Leech style flys (Mohair if it's slow&clear, Pine squirrel if it's fast&dirty). Sometimes they want it dead drifted, other times on the swing, and yet other times just held steady in a run or stripped up or across stream. It can get boring though..... fishing the same fly all the time.... So when I have caught a bunch and tire of it THEN I'll start experimenting with other flys and techniques. They'll ALWAYS eat that Leech though, never fished anywhere or under any conditions that it didn't do the trick.
  18. Yeah, Green sunniess are the only thing fit to eat in that river. There aren't any goggle eye and the green bass are all ate up with worms.
  19. Pretty calm up this way, considering. Caught 4 nice keepers in less than 3 hours pitching a jig, 4-8' off the outside ends of docks. All but one bit on the fall. Threw a Redeye shad around for awhile but no love on it.
  20. That is an awfully light canoe he has.
  21. Cool. I'm interested to hear how you do on that upper stretch.
  22. I guess, IF they weigh about 1/50 oz. You gotta have some weight to get the jiggy effect I think. Hollow bead chain doesn't have that IMO, but you can certainly try it.
  23. There is an old fence row in the back end of Decker that would be a great spot for flyfishing Fall crappie.
  24. Probably be fine. Color does matter to crappie but if Red/white is all you have.....try it. Actually if you have a white bucktail then you have Tan also. . Tan/white would be a solid choice also I'd think. You can also use a Sharpie marker on the white to make just about any color you want. It'll bleed out after a bit but it will work for awhile. The river channel ? Here is a topo map, just Zoom in the area in question. http://webapp.navionics.com/?lang=en
  25. I bet if you tested the O2 in an area of the lake where you see dead fish you'll find it to be within the acceptable range.
