Out of about 10 trips to HHT I hit it right ONCE. Hybrids are incredibly fickle, ya just never know when to go and where to concentrate your efforts. They play by no rules whatsoever. None that I can decipher anyway. The guys that walk/wade the bank seem to do just as well, if not better, than the ones in boats. I'm not sure when the last stocking was either but I suspect it has been quite awhile, so if you do hook up with one it's prolly gonna be a biggun.

I have an Old Town guide 147 that I love for a solo. It's heavy and doesn't track all that well, but it is stable at drift and it's roomy. Probably the best canoe in the world for a guy and a dog. It will get 2 average sized guys down the river, but not very comfortably.

They didn't survey the contours, so what are you saying here? The most accurate contours of LO are the old yellow "structure graphics" maps....which are flawed drastically in areas, but still closer to accurate than anything. There are several areas on this lake that I know like the back of my hand, and I can look at the mapping images and tell you for certain if they are accurate, or even close. Most aren't. I'd be surprised if anyone has done a "new survey" that wasn't just an assumption made by simply continuing the contour patterns out from the surrounding dry land, then adding in what OLD SURVEY material indicates. I understand that is hard to come to grips with after spending hard earned cash on that software .....but I'm afraid that is a fact. Accept it and learn, or deny it and stay ignorant. It's your choice. I'm not saying that the software isn't any good, or that it isn't useful, but it's no better than the old yellow POS maps.

I don't believe that is a complete list, as it only mentions minors and people in nursing homes. Exposing yourself to ANYONE can get you on the list, as can helping someone the same age as you out of a swimming pool or into a boat by touching their behind. The days of getting wedgies is gone. Sometimes being "convicted" just means that a prosecutor and his cohort local lawyer drained a person of their funds and forced them into a plea agreement. What's wrong with a jon boat ? Most versatile craft ever devised IMO. Just choose the size that best suits your intended water, customize it a bit, fish out of it forever and a day.....then sell it for the same price (or more) than you paid for it. Can't lose.

Pretty good sized crack on the main lake from the mouth of the Glaze up towards the Lodge. Almost wide enough for a bass boat.

I wanna say yeah, but it's really hard to say since we haven't had ice like this in over 2 decades. Not sure how long it will take to melt. I used to hit small lakes and strip pits immediately after ice-out and almost always had an exceptional day of it. I think there's some science concerning mass oxygen release when a lake locked up with ice finally thaws. Had an insanely good day fishing the edge of an ice shelf within sight of Alhonna quite a few years back, I'll never forget that. Crazy! If you can find an ice shelf over a hump or dropoff you might locate a school of big fish, but finding ANOTHER one will likely be impossible. I guess my point is that anything you learn immediately after the thaw probably won't be of much use to you a week or two later.

No chenilles or dubbing brushes that I have seen so far cause the fly to turn out right. Maybe "right" isn't the proper term.... "The Same".
