Correct, with one addition..... there may be a "foil" shroud around the center wire insulator that needs to be grounded also. That foil is a 2-ply shroud that is a conductor on one side and a non-conductor on the other. It needs to maintain continuity with the opposing piece. This sounds more complicated than it is.

Yeah I'm sure there's someone close to you that can do a good splice. Just have them seal it with liquid tape and shrink boot. If nothing else you could proposition one of the AT&T guys the next time you see a service truck working on a line or pedestal. Just grab one of his cones and hold it ransom, he'll do a pretty splice for ya.

Somewhere (probably on ebay) there is a set of 12'' diameter Googly eyes. I'm buying them and epoxying them to your canoe Dave, yeah it's the craft foam sheets like they sell at Wal-mart.

No dissin', Lancer....but a stripping basket is just one more thing to get line tangled around. I know several guys that own them, some bought, others homemade, but nobody uses them after the first time trying, myself included.

Those are cool. Local dealer has one in it's original wooden Elto treasure box. I have an old 1967 3hp, and a 195? Weedless 4hp, and a 1972 6hp. None of which I personally would want on a canoe....but that's just me. I'd either go with a 12v TM or snatch up that old folder from Gavin. None of those old "little" motors ever really got used much so an old one is as good as a new one if you just refresh the hoses and stuff. Plus, the old ones are built SO much better than the new ones.

I would be happy to....but sadly it would probably cost you as much in fuel to get it here as it would to replace the transducer/harness assembly. I am in Gravois mills.

Have spliced many of them, never a problem. It's just coax that may or may not have a temp sender wire in the harness, nothing mysterious.

Well there's obviously something wrong with those people. I'd keep a close eye on 'em. They aint right.

It's a good idea to change it periodically even if you have low actual running hours on it since 4-stroke outboards CAN get water/fuel/pollen in the oil. Besides, once a year (every Fall ) whether it needs it or not should give you some peace of mind. Do the gearcase at the same time.

Here's a design that I have been playing with for over a month now, and at first you might think its just another version of a "blockhead", but it kicks a blockheads butt bigtime which gives me great pleasure because I can't stand Tim Holshlag (I think he's a douchebag) It casts great,and lands with a sexy "slap". You can control the volume and disturbance of the 'blooop' by how hard you pop it. And on a long steady strip...if you just pretend that your stripping a streamer instead of fishing a popper.... it gurgles like a buzzbait and if tied on with a no-slip loop knot it wiggles side to side like a TWM leaving a trail of bubble behind it. I've always been a 'Cupped and Slotted Cork' kinda guy, but this bad boy here does triple duty. It is just 3 layers of craft foam laminated using 3M Super 77 and then cut into 5/8" wide by 1 3/4" long strips, poke it on after dressing the tail, loc-tite gel that baby and fold it over, then do a cinching wrap a little bit behind center and slap on some googly eyes (sorry Ronnie Moore) The really cool part is that after it gets chewed on a bunch it may begin to come "unlaminated" at the face which causes it to make even more racket, and more bubbles....but a little less wiggle. Pretty cool!

All of the central Mo. and most of the Northern Mo. Creeks and rivers have stretches where the bottom and banks are not just mud and clay, and you'll even find some bluff holes, gravel bars and rock gardens on those streams. Those stretches serve as a home range to whatever Smallmouth might be in the stream. If you concentrate your time only in those stretches you'll be surprised how many smallies there are in "yucky streams" like the Loutre, Cuiver, Boeff, Auxvasse, the Salt tribs, ect. They certainly deserve mote attention than they get.

Not meant for flyrods? Malarkey! Only if you load it down with so many "accessories" that you have no place to drop some line. My flats jon has no seats, cleats, latches, or foot controls to constantly be grabbing my line. All I have to be mindful of is my stupid FEET....and I'd remove those irritating basturds if I could.

Only when canned or frozen kernels. But if you eat it directly off the cob things work like they're supposed to.

That Lowe is a sweet ride. If you're biting off a brand new rig I would want to switch out the Opti for an E-tec if possible. Also look at a few Lunds before you pull the trigger.

Yeah I know. Just tape a shim to the bottom of trigger. If you have a compartment separator from an old tackle box they are the perfect thickness.

I'm admittedly jealous, you look way better in them than I would.

Put a little dab of grease around the button and forget the rubber cap. It does a better job of holding moisture in than it does keeping it out.
