    What's Cooking?

Word ! Everyone loves to cook on it so much......all we had to do on our last outing was to get the food out, and the chef's immediately hopped into action. πŸ˜‰
  2. Appreciate the heads upπŸ‘ They should show it to all of the junior classes in high school. Might deter some of these kids that can't decide what to do after they graduate, from giving themselves to the government.
  3. Ain't it funny, Babler......That as soon as you left the Water Patrol now everybody is anxious to get that autograph. πŸ˜…
  4. Interesting thread here, wish I had something worthwhile to add. I was so excited to see decent graphite rods enter the market that I'll never be able to appreciate fiberglass sticks again, regardless of how special or unique they might be. I gotta say though, somewhat within the boundaries of this discussion, that the 70-100.00 rods of today are every bit as sweet as the 300-600.00 rods of yesterday. I'm blown away at what rod/reel/line combos I can put together for around 250.00 these days.
  5. πŸ˜… That's a hell of a way to start a float. I coulda warned ya about that. Launch at the upper (concrete) ramp ONLY if heading upstream. The lower is a bit sketchy.....but do-able. Just gotta make sure you've got good tires on the trailer.....and a truck with some balls. πŸ˜‰
  6. Looks beautiful 😍 How heavy is it ? And are you gonna build paddles ?
  7. Give examples of distrust and paranoia that "many" have? No. Stop trying to troll me. If you don't get it then I'll accept that. πŸ‘
  8. Your comprehension skills are tweaked, dude. πŸ™„ Personally, my theory is that it is a test of the EBS, and nothing more. I'm not being weird about THAT, I'm speculating on the reason why alot of people are paranoid about every single thing that happens, or is reported. My point was that this level of distrust and paranoia that many have, didn't just come from nowhere. It's 90% justifiable for the most part. Do you not agree? What this turned out to be a more glowing "TEST OF"..... was a test to see how many people freely admit that they are skeptical about EVERYTHING that is being done, and reported, these days. And honestly that is a bigger problem than a possible failure of the EBS. Do you not agree? We need to be able to TRUST, in order to be UNITED. And the trust that has been broken, needs to be restored.
  9. Yeah, for crying out loud ! πŸ˜… On the other hand, think a little deeper. Nobody that any of us know, was asked to confirm that they received the message. I got it while swapping out a water pressure relief valve on a Mercury 200 EFI..... but nobody ever asked. πŸ₯΄ So who determines whether the "test" was a PASS or a FAIL ? πŸ€” Wait ! I know ! Oneshot's wife !!!!! 😁
  10. Me too ! As soon as labor day weekend was over the dingleberries at Ameren pulled the plug on my pond and pulled it down 3 feet. Why they do what they do is a mystery, and really screws up the Fall flats fishing. This will be the 3rd straight year that they've done this. I wish it would rain SO MUCH that they couldn't screw things up. When Union Electric was in control they NEVER did this. Ever. 🀬
  11. Not ranting, just sharing some analytical thoughts to those I consider friends. In case you missed it there was a EBS test today (supposedly nation wide). It was announced the day before, and immediately all kinds of conspiracy theories started spreading around. At first I was like... "OMG don't be ridiculous".....But then I got to thinking WHY every single thing that is done on a large scale always creates a certain amount of turmoil & fear in so many people. There IS a reason why, and the reason is not totally unsubstantiated. Have you ever had uneasy gut feelings about something your kids, spouse, relative, or neighbors might be up to sometimes ? $100.00 says that there was a pretty good reason WHY you felt that way. And $20.00 says that you were probably right. Or at least justified for wondering. That's all. I'm sure you (Terrierman) will claim to not being able to relate to that at all.....So just ignore me. πŸ‘
  12. If you haven't already heard, this is hilarious....kinda. It kinda isn't funny at all, though, because there is a reason why so many people are scared of everything the powers that be are doing. Severe mass mistrust is why, and in all honesty that mistrust didn't begin for NO REASON AT ALL. It was spawned by numerous dirty deeds, since even before 2011 ...... and although those deeds can't be "officially proven", and are not to be openly talked about....the skepticism and heartfelt loss of trust remains in the minds of more people than you might think. Society can be controlled, as far as what is considered OK to talk about. But the only thing that can control what people truly feel & think is the confidence that they are not repeatedly being BSed from every angle. So yeah, this is a problem, and it's not going away until....... Until what? πŸ€” Citizens have been victimized. Just go ahead and QUIETLY admit it, because everybody with a functioning brain knows, deep down, that it's true. ✌️
  13. My favorite was when he waded the Narrows. Jackson was really worried about him. πŸ˜… OC will be getting the added sound of leaf blowers in the background soon. πŸ™‚
  14. Any reports that I could put up would just be repeats of past ones. Kinda like a Lilley's OneCast.....Throwing the same ol'things in the same ol' places, and catching the same ol' fish. πŸ˜‰ Plenty of fun for me....but repetitive and boring to those listening to me talk about it. πŸ˜…
  15. If it were ME servicing that gearcase I would fill with one or the other of THESE... I keep nothing else on hand. And in my mind the only difference is the COLOR of it. And it seems to me that the Evinrude (yellow) lube tends to lubricate better when a little water gets mixed with it. The Mercury (blue) stuff doesn't appear to accept water intrusion at all. Separates far more rapidly.
  16. Hypoid lube is good for gear teeth....but "less good" for thrust bearings, thrust washers, and clutch dogs. OMC used to recommend hypoid lube for the old hydro-mechanical lower units (1968-72).....and as far as I know the only reason WHY was to quiet them down, because it certainly didn't improve the life of the shift components AT ALL. THESE are the shift dogs... Whether you wear out the gear teeth OR the shift dogs.....you still have to replace the gears. Most gear wear issues are because of worn shift dogs, not because of worn gear teeth.
  17. What you're dealing with is a Mercury labeled Tohatsu. They didn't just build the carb...... It is a Tohatsu powerhead and fuel system, with a Mercury designed lower unit and ignition system......which is kinda silly to me because I challenge you to find a single Tohatsu with an ignition system failure. Mercury's with ignition system failures are a daily occurrence at any outboard shop.
  18. I usually roll my eyes at crappie pics..... but those are some freakin' barn door slabs. πŸ‘
  19. I have a guy down the road that loves his poke salat. He's 91-92 and just re-roofed his house BY HIMSELF ...... so that should tell ya something. I'm 60 and I'll be darn if I plan on ever re-roofing my house. I won't even clean the gutters myself. Home maintenance is NOT my gig.
  20. I was trying to catch one yesterday.....and I'm pretty sure that I burned up more energy than I would have gained had I captured and ate him. πŸ˜‚ Pretty evident that I'd starve quickly on a grasshopper diet.
  21. If you're living off the land in the Missouri woods, here are a few usually easy to find & easy to collect consumables that are beneficial to your survival and health, and that are "in season" for most of the year. Pokeweed & Stinging nettle.....cooked like spinach. Willow bark....cooked like bacon.(helps you stomach and digest the other nasty crap that you might have to eat). Dandelion leaves....just lightly steam them and eat'em green. Earthworms, snails, rollie-pollies, (protein & calcium). Water turtles= good......Land turtles= bad. Aside from berries and nuts (that aren't always available). Anyone know of others ?
  22. So in other words......They are good for you if you nibble them off the ground like deer and billygoats do. Ants & mites do contain protein. πŸ‘
  23. Search "Gun screws". Brownell's (if still in business) can provide just about any machine screw you could possibly want. Or.....if you really want to be a cobbler.....drill it, fill it, and re-tap it. πŸ˜‰
