  1. I played around a little more with my Cara Deep Cranker today, Im not a huge deep cranker either but i thought it was great, I have a old Lews BB1 with 12lb on it and i was throwing the Berkeley Dredger 20.5 and it would fling that thing a mile, I even caught a couple little guys on it, you could barely tell they were even hooked, those baits dig and pull so hard, Definitely an art to learning to feel the bite with a big crank like that
  2. We put in at 7 and took out at 11. What a great day to take someone who doesnt fish much, we had close to 30 with 0 keepers. WE stayed busy though, caught them on every lure I threw. Walking bait this morning, neds, shakey, deep diver, drop shot, and i caught a whole bunch on a megabass jerkbait, who says a jerkbait only works in the winter???? The jerker came in handy under the bridge, they were piled up in between the pillars about 5 ft deep. Livescope was a big help. Hardly any boat traffic at all, Only 2 trucks in the Bridgeport neighborhood ramp. Last summer if you werent there at daylight you may not have a parking spot. Thanks again for the report Dutch, our most productive things were neds and shakey heads. We went all the way up to Mccords Bend. Water is pretty nasty up the river, a brownish tan with all kinds of nasty bubbles on the surface, but that is where we had the best bite. If anyone has some kids that want to catch them like crazy i bet you could put a night crawler on a drop shot under the bridge and catch those little spots all day.
  3. Thanks for the report, Im meeting an old high school buddy down there tomorrow, hes not a big fisherman, got a few neds rigged up. And the trusty ole drop shot for around the Bridgeport pillars
  4. You will like it, Garmin is very user friendly, I had a non touch before and now have touch units and like them much better
  5. Bill, what about the old Cara Deep Cranker? Ive had one for a while but havent used it a ton. I did use it last year a bit for the first time and it seemed good, I plan on trying more this year.
  6. https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/garmin-echomap-uhd-73sv-fish-finderchartplotter-combo?hvarAID=shopping_googleproductextensions&ds_e=GOOGLE&ds_c=BPS|Shopping|Smart|Boating|General|NAud|TopPerf|NMT&gclid=CjwKCAjw-8qVBhANEiwAfjXLrridSEQ9j57gEc_G85MWmb_oFdKIWco9d4eNRweFdaSb8iCOVDH4MhoCUQ4QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds This unit will do it all. I dont think the Striker series has the UHD transducer and it also isnt touch screen so the screen is actually smaller because of the larger buttons. Youtube Garmin quickdraw and see if its somthing you think would work for you. I know Lowrance will do it to but im not familiar with all the new models that keep coming out, or which ones do it
  7. Another thing to think about is most these units have a feature to build your own maps, where you can idle up and down these rivers without mapping and it will draw you one and save it in the unit
  8. I believe Garmin owns Navionics now so their maps come built in. My Garmin maps are better than my older Lowrance or Bird with a Navionics Chip. As for showing fish and all that stuff they are all good at that these days. Might be just a little more money than you want to spend but you can find the Garmin 93 uhd for $599 if ya look around. Fairly cheap for a 9 inch screen. But i agree go up to Bass Pro or somewhere they have them all and see which one you like the best
  9. If i remember right you live in Republic area? If so Sutter Trailer was in Nixa and now Sancrest and they have a shop in Billings. I had them do my bearing a couple years back and also ordered an axle through them for my older boat. They were pretty fair on price. I also had to order new calipers for my boat that were hard to find the salesman found them and even told me to buy them off ebay and he gave me the part number because he said they would have to upcharge way to much to get them
  10. At launch ramps if i have a guy that has his own boat i always put him in the boat and i back my own truck. I always find it harder to back a strange truck down a busy launch ramp with unfamiliar mirrors than drive a boat But most the time the guy gets in his boat and lets the buddy back his truck
  11. When i took out at Shell Knob yesterday the Garmins were saying 84, and they are usually 2 degrees cooler than the others. These kids dont have thermometers in them, i took my boy and my niece to Taney a month ago and they were swimming in Turkey Creek.
  12. Diving in Bull we always noticed walleye seemed to run in pairs. Looks like it holds true with how many of you guys are catching them so close together
  13. The little boy talked me into taking him tubing today we were down from 8:45-1:00. In that time i only saw 3 pleasure boats and maybe 5 bass boats. Last year at this time I remember having a hard time getting a parking spot after daylight. I didnt get to fish much because tubing was waaaaaay more important. We did stop under the bridge and there was a pretty big school of fish just out in the open water. We threw a crank through them and a dixie jet. Had success with both and most were largemouth. I dont think i have ever caught a keeper under the bridge until today, usually just numbers to keep the kiddo busy. I still didnt get to reel any in between a 7 year old and his mom. I get to hook them and then they get the fight. Water temp was 83, nice James River green. Today was much more pleasant to be out than yesterday. Didnt take any pics, everyone knows what a 2lber looks like lol
  14. Well, i showed up. There is a little tournament going on 6:30 till 12 and that was enough for me. I only had one keeper good enough for big bass and 2nd. I think only 5 or 6 boats showed up, half were already gone by 12. That was one of the hottest fishing days ive had. Not much to report as i didnt catch them to well. The one i caught was in 17ft in some brush on a shakey head. I really like that side of the lake. Ive only fished it one other time about 8 years ago. The few that were weighed in all were alive and healthy when released. The guy running the tournament doesnt allow dead fish to be weighed in, which is a good rule to have.
  15. Has anyone on here fished it? I was thinking about doing it tomorrow, tried calling he number with no answer
  16. https://majorleaguefishing.com/circuits/bass-pro-tour/rules/ Just a 5 minute penalty. Rule #38
  17. Everyone wants that quiet outboard, but go to the ramp and look how many guys have loud exhaust on their daily driven trucks. No one wants to mess with mixing oil on a 2 stroke but half those guys mix up all kinds of ethonal and injector cleaning potions at every fill up
  18. Looks great, what kind of price tag does he put on it? Mine could use some love too
  19. I always wanted to name one. Get The Net! Bait and Tackle
  20. I would have done good on the Fork event if i wouldnt have picked the one guy that opted out lol
  21. This is from letting that crap sit and not using the boat. It was like this when i got it. Ive never had any issues with Ethonal as long as you burn it and dont let it sit around
  22. I love my crappie and i have my creel limit, so im on the bass headspace now. That being said i agree i think they need to lower the limit. I also love my livescope but it is hurting our crappie. I got into Scuba 10 years or so ago and i didnt do much on Table Rock because with the boat traffic and most people dont know what a dive flag means, so My brother basically taught me on Bull. But he said back in the day the flatheads around Kimberling were so thick. People need to utilize this, to me a flathead taste every bit as good as a crappie. Trotlines can be a pain for a bass fisher but when i see one and it labeled and visible i respect that and move on. So many cats in TR that dont get fished for, I think i sad this in a different report but a few weeks ago but i hooked a little bass on a crank and i was just barely wiggling and then it just stopped like it hit a log. I popped it a few times and then i realized it was a fish, i never saw it but it went from 5ft out to 20 and i have never had a rod bent over so far but it came off. Pretty sure it was a big cat that tried to eat the little bass.
  23. I do tournaments here and there and i totally agree. Those"Old" guys on the Wed. Cape tournament love killing bass.
