My grandson works for The Nature Conservancy. Controlled burning is his main activity. And now culling deer and hogs on a place they own near Ada, OK. Prior to his OK job he worked in Louisiana burning to help longleaf pine, at a place in North Dakota on the Missouri River Breaks helping manage a bison herd, Georgia burning again for longleaf pine habitat and finally as a wildfire fighter in Oregon. He's had an interesting career so far and now has a lot of fire related certifications. TNC is a good outfit and they treat their people well.
To all you people who are having or have had cancer treatments - I've not gone through it myself, but have seen enough to know that it's about as tough as it gets.
You have my sincerest best wishes for good outcomes, each and every one of you..
People will hate on me for saying this - but that never stopped me before. The current MDC director is a good person who I've known for a long time and she is a legit outdoorsman. And a very good politician too which counts for a lot in that job.
You don't know the one about why Nebraska took out grass and put in astroturf on the football field?
Couldn't keep the cheerleaders from grazing between downs.
My best friend came to my house to die with liver cancer. No one no how no way will ever convince me to do chemotherapy. What a miserable way to live if you want to call it that and then to die.
I'd rather be going fishing, hanging with friends, going out to do something ANYTHING, but no. Covid. Stay hunkered down. I hate it, but I'm doing it because I don't want to die soon, or give it to lovey to die soon either. Have not eaten in a restaurant since freaking MARCH for crying out loud.
Watch netflix depressing chick flick "Away" all afternoon.
Go get mail. Do a couple of shots of whiskey on the way down and back.
Make chicken and rice casserole. One more shot.
Change into flannel pajama bottoms and a T shirt. One more shot.
Get ready to steam broccolli. One more shot.
Please God, make it disappear and soon. My liver is begging you.
Last week we went two days without an amazon delivery. On the third day, fed ex driver came up the driveway and knocked on the door to make sure we were okay.
Everyone or nearly everyone I've met from our northern neighbors thinks their way is best and these Ozarks hillbillies are pathetic. I've told more than one whining about these hills and their hill people to feel free to hike it back home where things were good. And got that WTF look. Nobody made them move here, except those winters that they seem to miss. BTW, they can't drive either.
