  1. Go spend $1500 on a boat and make sure she never uses it. don't get mad, get even!!!!
  2. I saw a bobcat tonight on my way into town. And Mitch.... About my opinion... You used to be my friend.
  3. I don't have a bass boat. But I do have a boat that I will fish the White in anything short of life threatening. Everybody that's coming with me has a heads up to bring jerkbait gear.
  4. I just want to be able to fish and live to tell about it.
  5. Cast iron is good stuff - the older kind with machined interior. The newer stuff is too rough to ever develop any kind of coating that will help keep food from sticking to it. Even so, I bought the oldest grandson a five quart Lodge dutch oven and a trivet he can use in it to keep a roast up off the bottom. His Birthday is the day after Thanksgiving and he will be here.
  6. You used to be my friend.
  7. I love it when my wife comes home drunk as a skunk. Good times.
  8. That's a day for sure. Thanks for posting,
  9. It just won't be the same without you.😥 But I'm still going anyway.🙂
  10. So is life insurance with that point of view.
  11. Good thing you're a tough old goat. A lesser man might complain. Wishing you and your son healing and peace of mind.
  12. We're going to dress up and go to The Chateau Thanksgiving Champagne Brunch.
  13. I'd like a case of Stag, but not enough to drive to St. Louis and fish for trout in a pond to maybe get it.

    What's Cooking?

Chili from last night,on poltenta browned in a bit of butter and some pickled jalapeno slices. Couple of drams of the Famous Grouse. Life is good.
  15. Did that last weekend. It is early a bit.
  16. Lewis and Clark were out just galavanting around I guess. Come on man, you're a lot smarter than that.
  17. Their "people" as you dismissively refer to the men who weren't Lewis or Clark were critical to their journey. Does not change one iota the magnificence of what was accomplished by the Corps of Discovery. or the leadership of Lewis and Clark. And one further comment. How do you know what you say to be true?
  18. I was collecting a water sample in Sam Baker State Park one day. Had my hand in the water about 18" from a water moccasin sitting on a rock. I don't think I've ever seen a fatter snake. Maybe 24" long and bigger around than my wrist. And when that mouth came open and all that white showed -- I still remember seeing fangs. I gave it the creek back in no time. They're rare and really unmistakable.
  19. What a great place. See you at jigfest!
  20. I was in my 30's before I could afford a decent rifle and hunt with friends on a good place to get my first deer. They weren't as thick then as they are now. Successful hunts back then were in the lower teens percentage wise. These days they are everywhere and a nuisance in lots of places. It wasn't always so.
  21. My parents were divorced when I was very young. My love for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, floating - all of it - came from friends and my love of reading. I read all the time as a youngster, outdoor magazines, books you name it. I fell in love with it as much from the printed page as from anything else. One second cousin used to go rabbit hunting with me in my early teens. That was pretty much it for family actually going out with me. But. Family mentors are a blessing. My mother and grandmother both encouraged it for me, but I pretty much had to do it and learn it on my own. Which in looking back on it, was really OK. When I say the things I know I learned the hard, hard way, it's not really a joke. Daryk, you're lucky to have friends who will help teach your son. Keep encouraging it!
  22. There's a lot to be said for making your own meat. On so many levels. That one will be a perfect eater and a great memory from now on. Congratulations to your son.

    What's Cooking?

I need to put couscous back into my rotation. So good and so easy. Lambsicles sound just fine too and so does the broccoli. Great sounding meal.

    What's Cooking?

Venison meat loaf, smoked of course. That's Oklahoma Joe's mustard style BBQ sauce on top. Good sauce, has a nice bite to it. Hickory today for smoke. The side will be steamed cabbage.
